Jake White you twit
This myth of the Boks being 7th under Coetzee is a lie. They officially hit 7th under Erasmus early into his tenure. These people lie, lie and lie so freely that they don't even have a sense for how obvious or extreme their lies are.
playing your strongest side in the more important competition
The European cups mix teams from various backgrounds and contexts.
Teams have budgets that are balanced against result expectations.
Every money bit is welcomed as long as it keeps adding. Anytime it starts to substract, anytime priorities are changed.
Whenever a result in a European cups pays less than a result in another competition, and that securing the result in the European cup jeopardizes securing results in the other comp, the expectation is that teams are going to diss the european cups.
Teams that get more from performing in another competition only play the European cups in a way that can not jeopardize theirs earnings from other competitions.
Those are basic considerations. It seems that white people make a trade of avoiding basic considerations that could diss their conceited self perception.
European cups are poorly designed competitions.
Usually people welcome additional revenues as long as they add to each other. Whenever they start substracting, they prioritize.
European cups lead teams to work several jobs at a time.
A person who has several jobs and has committed the revenues in a mortgage or something will favour the highest revenue anytime.
A dude working two jobs, one making 200 000 euros per year and another 70 000 euros per year usually will prioritize the 200 k one over the 70 k.
Budgets and stuff...
Mmmm, I just read loose pass and it looks like that it wasn't only the bulls the sent over a weaker team this weekend. To be honest, the draw of the Heineken Cup is really mind boggling, hard to figure out who plays who and how team progress. It would just make sense to have have groups, quarter, Semi and Finals, but now they have last 16, home and away game and the bloody thing just drags on forever.
The other thing is is that teams playing the Heineken is not that well funded as what they get for being int he URC. So travelling in Economy and you have to connect in Dubai or Doha is not great either. Especially if you have to do that trip 6 times and then play back to back matches. Maybe Jake is not taking the Heineken Cup that serious and just wants to win the URC.
But I thought that the Heineken Cup was the pinnacle though.
In my honest opinion, I miss how rugby use to be way back when, when it was the Super 12, 11 games, started in March, the curry cup still had a bunch of springboks playing in it etc.
But now nations are struggling against big clubs from Japan and France and simply can't afford the players anymore and neither does their own leagues generate enough money.
After watching a year of URC, I would rather go back to old Super Rugby, before this stupid conferences and Derbies etc.
But, we are here now.
My only other hope is to see whether we can get our biggest names players back in SA.
I don't mind if the 30+ players go abroad to make some decent dough, however the sharks have been really smart in giving their key players like Etzebeth and Kolisi a 5 year deal. So they might be on to something.
