....along with Alberts, Etzebeth (which I question) and here's the rub for some Bismark. I thought some of our more assertive posters might enjoy this:

"13 - Jean de Villiers (South Africa): The new skipper was outstanding and with a gash under his eye only a brave man would have suggested he go off. A brilliant try with great determination to get over the line and some genuine speed to burn Chris Ashton down the touchline. He also kept a close watch of the dangerous Manu Tuilagi and didn't allow him to break the advantage line.
Bubbling under: Jonathan Davies (Wales)

Mozart - why did you put in the above message?   It will give some of the contributors a fainting fit or worse.   Please keep in mind the delicate state of their minds - since they have so little of it.

No argument from me.  Jean did everything a lot of people said he could not.  I was less impressed with young Eben's performance, expected more from him, maybe the step-up is a bit high but he will get there.

Alberts found his mojo and played like we all know he can.  Bismark was good and did not give away the ten penalties that some posters say he does/would etc.

But do not discount Coenie, that was also an outstanding performance by the young man.

Funny how Jean makes the team of the week but there's someone on here who thinks Jean, Habana and Morne are has beens. Personally I believe the three of them had good games and it's great to see some of the senior players putting their hands up.

I had no problem with Jean being in the Bok team, but only  because of a lack of options at centre. I didn't expect much from him, just the run of the mill performance we've seen from him all season, but he proved me wrong and really stepped it up a level. He really threw everything he had into the game and I appreciate that. I'd be glad for him to captain the Boks for a while after the England series, but he is just too old to be the bok captain long term, because by the time the next world cup comes round he'll be over the hill. Therefore, even if he continues to perform as he did in the first test, we still need to identify and blood a real longterm solution to the captain problem.

Yep Jean is a short term solution, we do need to find a long-term investment at 13. Taute is the obvious choice

Well some of us can say we told you so and others will just have to admit the error of their ways.

All one can say is if they get roasted for playing so well what will hapepn if they play a bad game.

Sapster we do realise that Jean will not be around forever. The point though was he was right for now. Hope you see that now.

Which one is it, it's kinda like a mishmash of a 50 cents each way.....

"Yes by then we will need to have moved on from hasbeens like Morne, Habana and Jean if we are to compete"

and now...

"Jean and Habana were good, Morne was poor"

Jean was great in the Aussie QF and he was great on Saturday. We all realize he won't be there for the next RWC, but for the moment he is our best centre. I always felt Fransie and Jean was the best of our various combinations.....it's looking to be the case.

Etzebeth is another of these SA players who has a halo. Don't get me wrong he is a fantastic young player from my favourite team .  I just think he has a lot to learn still. I don't think he was much better than adequate on Saturday....which for a youngster is pretty phenominal.

Bismarck is a huge asset in spite of the pseudo science designed to prove him poor. You have to put your biases aside to do these match analyses. Garbage in....garbage out.

Look here Denise, I know you are stupid so let me explain. Just because Jean had a good game, hardly an earth shattering one, does that mean I want to see him at 13 for the Boks, huh?

Man you are a thick p..ck. So what if next game he has a shocker, will that then mean he is crap?

What a stupid person like you is incapable of comprehending is the fact that I raise questions over Jeans age and the fact that he is playing out of position at 13. I have never questioned his ability, quite the opposite, I rate him as our best 12 ever and have said that a number of times.

But here goes, one more time for the dunce - he is getting on and is out of position, I would not have selected him at 13 and stand by that - watch this space.

Habana is the same, he was great on Sat and good for him, but lets face it he has been off the pace for some time now and many have questioned his selection.

As for Morne, he was poor and that never changes

Glad to clear things up for you, but doubt it will sink in, too stupid - much like that rant about Philander - funny how you never mentioned the fact that I conceded I was wrong about him, hey yellow belly? True to form aren't you?

Well deserving to Jean! He played with some serious passion. Habana looked like a kid in a candy store. He had some step in those "old" legs of his.

Moz, I can assure you I have no anger issues at all. I just cant stand Denise, its that simple and I am not alone when it comes to this sad excuse of a man. I said I dont initiate crap and the evidence of that was there for all to see. Your buddy took it upon himself the throw insults my way - I see the good old webmaster has removed all those posts, which in itself is pretty pathetic. You and I trade blows, difference is I respect you and your opinions.

No I have not made a stupid call, how the hell can we draw conclusions from a single test. Lets face it Jean was good, but lets not get carried away. He played with plenty of guts and lead from the front, but it was not a classic 13 display that ripped the English defence apart. Hell Tuilagi ran straight over him twice, but that aside, Jean was good.

Fact is he is 31 now and not getting younger. He is not one of the older players I would invest in. I would prefer to see one of the youngsters playing alongside Frans. Jean is a good player, always has been but his best days are done.
