I read before I watched the game that Kriel was rounding into form, he even got a try assist. So I was dismayed to see its all hot air. The Aussie commentators decided Kriel has to be talked up, for what reason one can easily speculate.....they love the idea of a Kriel/Kuridrani/Folau match up in the tests.

They talked up two 'great tackles', but the first was a hospital pass tackle, and the second a simple side on tackle, high, on a player near touch.
Front on Horne regularly made metres through Kriel, once up to 15 metres before Kriel got him to turf. He can't tackle head on with any authority. The closest parallel  to the Kriel tackling style...JJ Englebrecht.

The try assist? A simple drawing of the tackler and pass....school boy stuff, any centre could have done that.
But no doubt the same fools who were howling about Steppie last week, will build these crumbs into a loaf of bread. Step by the way was totally overshadowed by the Tahs centers....as he almost invariably is against decent opposition.

Mozart, but who would you play instead of Kriel? Le Roux has better offense but his tackle % is a miserable 67% and has 16 turnovers.

Don't as the donkey brain on the site for who is to play in any position.  His constant attack is on the players he dislikes and nothing ever comes out of that solidified component called brain matter.
Remember how he glorifies De Jongh as outside center.  That remains hisideal outside center with Fat Fransie the ideal inside center.

JW  this is one of the insoluble Bok positions at the moment. We simply don't have centers who are test class, inside and particularly outside. Mapoe is a little better, but not really a test centre, likewise de Jongh. Jordaan is an accident waiting to happen when the big boys come out to play. Kriel is an eery repeat of the JJ experience. He looked so much like JJ in the tackle yesterday I thought the old free rider had returned.
No easy answers at 13.

There is a real difference between Kriel and De Jongh - Kriel never goes AWOL in games and De Jongh does.

Beware Dr Moz you are going down the wrong track re Kriel.I am trying hard to save the good Doctor future embarrassment.
The improvement in youngsters Serfontein and Kriel has been marked. They are developing very nicely. They would be looking eve n better in the Lions outfit.

As far as Comrade Mike's concerned Jesse Kriel's the only possible selection at 13.
Others like Mapoe and De Jongh are apparently best suited on  the wing.
Funny how this traitorous bast@ rd wants to play a full back at 13 and two mid fielders on the outside.
We've all seen how well his pick at lock is doing.
Does this w@nkstain know anything about rugby? ... he seems to think he does.
Truly laughable.

Stop your nonsense about Comrade Mike - irt was a phase i wnt through 15 years ago and has vanished totally since then.  I think it is the same as what happened in the case of Comrade Mainame.
I was just taking a swipe at Mozart when it comes to his hero De Jongh.   I am not saying that anybody should be in the 13 position - based on performance thus far in Super 15 Mapoe is probably the best candidate.  I mentioned that Kriel thus far this year was disappointing and since I believe that performance is the main criteria for team selection - I am not in favour of selecting Kriel at this stage at 13.
My pick at lock is Du Toit and he is performing the best of any lock in Super 15 - thank you.

The dofdoos at it again.  The real reason I opposed our resident imbecile Mozart's  mindless/idiotic comments was that I said he should have more time to see whether he can perform on the required level as a center and he had too few game on Super Rugby level at that stage.  I subsequently wrote on this site I am not convinced that he should be the 13 - since there was inadequate performance in evidence.

Jessie Kriel like Serfontein have both been good for the Bulls in particular Serfontein who has been by far our best 12.
In the last two games the Bulls have been poor mostly thanks to a pathetic half back combination who fail to ignite their outside backs......Paige is pathetic, as hesitant and indecisive as they come. v/Zyl showed so much early promise as a youngster, but injury and a lack of investment have proved costly in terms of his development.....he has struggled to secure a starting spot and it shows in his performances.
The loss of Pollard at 10 has been decisive for the Bulls.....chopping and changing between the useless robotic Brummer and the talent but uncertain Schoeman at 10 has done the Bulls no favours.
The contrast between Phipps and Foley for the Tahs against the Bulls was the difference between the sides
Kriel and Serfontein have had little action in the last two games thanks to poor performances by the Bulls as a team
Prior to that Kriel was great for the Bulls as he was all of a last year
Jessie Kriel is a special player, gifted with speed, strength and brilliant feet
Just as I have always said, Serfontein is a class act and under Marais he has shown his class, proving his ignorant doubters horribly wrong.....same applies to Jessie Kriel and de Allende for that matter......who right now is in awful form.....but does that define him......no not at all.
Just like Marcel v/d Merwe yet again dominated at scrum time, just like PSDT continues to prove he is the real deal and more than anything Jantjies is making his doubters look like idiots.

Good old Marcel penalized again....the string bean he was scrumming against took 2 scrums to figure him out and then had the ref exhorting Van Der Merwe joke to 'stay up'

Thats another lie......Marcel dominated the crap out of him as he did Sio.....there was a free kick for an early engage and a slipped bind.....Marcel dominated yet again.....about the only positive in the poor Bulls performance along with good contributions from young stars Jenkins and Snyman
Hell I'm waiting for you to climb into them your pathetic old man......they are 20 after all.....you losing your touch?
So Moffie how many penalties were awarded against Marcel when he scrummed against the Brumbies replacement loose head huh?

 Mo zart aka Dofdoos 1
I have always been consistent about Springbok selection.  The norm for me has always been PERFORMANCE.   That is where we differ -with you selection criteria has always been REPUTATION without any regard to performance with a nasty prejudice approach thrown in.   Your attacks on players you dislike are never really based on actual performance - but a concoction of lies and misrepresentation,
When you wrote about him being a failure - I said he had too few a games to reach such a conclusion and we must look at him later on.  When there was to my mind no later improvement - I said that he is not producing the goods and that he is not to my mind selectable.
But De Jongh is even worse - the last time he played in a test he went AWOL and even Meyer would not select him again.

Moffie back to should have been awarded.....is that your best shout......is that based on your pathetic childish prejudice against Marcel
Mike has it spot on.....you kept banging on about how great Sio was only to have one of your anti's in impressive Marcel rip him to shreds
Next game, has Marcel doing exactly the same to the Tahs loosehead......fuck me you must have squirmed in your zimmer at the sight.....poor Moffie being owned again
But its nothing compared to your informed rugby take on CJ Stander......I doubt anyone could ever get a call that wrong again.....how many awards did CJ secure again, old man......not bad for such an average player.......bwhaahaaaaa
Keep surfing Moffie.......you are such easy pickings

Test flop???.....no better or worse than the Boks around him.....and a test or two does not define a player unless you are a pathetic coach......lets not forget the circumstances he found himself in....all his own doing granted......but a class act he was....a true openside unlike Schalk
Watson was talented enough to make test rugby his own.....but

Here is the talented Watson against Italy in the first test for which I can get data. Really impactful....4 runs for 4 metres and one turnover and a penalty. With numbers like that no wonder Stumpkar looks good to you.

As usual ... someone else is to blame for Dave's under-performing fancy.
We've heard on many occasion, all season long ... with one excuse following another ... and another ... on why HouGat sucked and who was to blame ... why JJ was out of his depth and who was to blame ... why Lomp's just not cutting it and who's to blame ... why Taute was so unfairly dropped ... and now ladies and gentlemen ... it's Kriel's turn.
Everyone else is to blame for this talentless chump failing time and time again.
It's his inside man's fault when Kriel goes to ground with the ball ... didn't you know that??
It's that same damn inside man's fault when Kriel refuses to pass.
That damn inside man is once again at fault when Kriel tries to make a break and fails ... time and again.
If it's not his inside man then it's someone else ... anyone will do ... just as long as we not look too closely at the man himself.
One would swear that talent is no longer a prerequisite ... all we need to look at is at the players around him ... if they suck, he sucks.
Strange how this doesn't apply to Kriel's direct inside man, namely Serfontein (another of Dave's absurd fancies) ...
Dave is so desperate that he'll go as far as to move Kriels inside man out to two three players away.
I guess we'll all be hearing how the hooker's also to blame for Kriel pathetic display ...
Perhaps Kriel should run on alone ... at least then he won't be hindered by that pesky incompetent inside man ...

I have watched Kriel throughout the season - but he has been very, very average in each game he played.  I always give players a reasonably number of matches to make up my mind and in nearly three-quarters of the Super Rugby games he played in he produced very little to write home about.

I think that his approach towards the game is questionable.   He got his weight and physique up and now believes he is Hercules that can use his physique to get through all opponents or over them.  This is not the way a a center should play.    He is going the Fat Fransie way – crashballing and mindlessly running into the first opposing center he encounters – who tackles him easily.   He has one advantage over Fat Fransie – he has speed, which is totally absent in the case of Fatso.

The talent to use space and run different lines is absent in his case.  He can develop that if he has a proper backline coach and may develop in future – he is still very yo ung – but at present he is not my first choice selection at 13
