I was reading that in the 95 WC final when Ian Jones punches Kobus Wiese in the final scrum on the final whistle it was payback for what had happened to Johan le Roux This is what Wiese said in an interview recently. The Boks were taunting the AB’s all game about le Roux and Jones finally snapped According to Wiese, le Roux was a great guy and a hard man Bullshit he was a disgrace to Bok rugby and clearly a hard man does not resort to biting

Johan le Roux. Most probably the only player in to receive two red cards in one game. This is what happened. It was in the days when provincial and Bok players still played club rugby as well in SA. Before the start of the provincial leagues the clubs used to play friendlies against clubs from neighbouring provinces as warm ups for the leagues. We, the Mpumalanga clubs, used to play against clubs from Easter Transvaal. I cannot remember which club it was but they played against Middelburg in Middelburg. During the first half some shit broke out shortly before the break, and Le Roux was the culprit. He got sent off. During the break the Middelburg guys decided that it was a friendly and that they went to the other team and had a chat and then the chairmen of both clubs went to see the ref. They explained that, it was a friendly game, and in the spirit of the game, Middelburg felt that Le Roux should be allowed back in the game. It took some persuasion but the ref eventually caved in. The second half started and within fifteen minutes the unthinkable happened. Le Roux caused shit again and was sent off for the second time. Two red cards for the same player in one game. This is no bullshit. I knew the chairman of Middelburg rugby club very well and he personally confirmed it to me. It spread through the whole of the Mpumalanga rugby world like a bush fire in any case.

@Saffex. I also heard that story about the 95WC punch, but Wiese was no ray of sunshine either. How is this for a sucker punch:

At least Gert Smal faced his guy when he sorted out Gary Knight:

Wiese's punch is the same cowardly shit we saw from Burger Geldenhuys, hitting a guy from behind. One hell of a punch by Smal though.

Correct, Pakie. Why I said Gert, at least, faced Knight when he punched him.

"Burger Geldenhuys, hitting a guy from behind"

Andy Dalton, captain of the NZ Cavaliers...ended his tour with his jaw broken in 2 places. Match vs NTvl, so I think he did not even get the opportunity to play the Boks. Sad and disappointing stuff. The Cavaliers risked and sacrificed a lot to come here and play the Boks at the height of the resistance to Apartheid.

Was the first match of the tour. 2:20 in. I recall watching the live feed in Afrikaans. Oelie het ook vuis geslaan. (5:20 in) Reff:"Maar Naas, hy het hom dan openlik geslaan!

I still have no time for Geldenhuys. Little more than a thug. Same goes for Uli. Who can forget that challenge that ended Tony Watson's career?

Die ouenswas rof in die oudae...but some did not play a gentleman's game....Uli Schmidt (Oelie Boelie) was ook 'n vuilgat...same as some of my WP manne of the time. My late dad always said Michael Dup was a brilliant player, but a "vuilgat"...Cubus Kirsten ...let Vlag tel you.

Draad

Did you see what I wrote above about Michael du Plessis - "fuilgat" is a wonderful description.

Yes Mike...I recall that incident like yesterday(Michael's knee to the head stunt)...

Carel and Niël's tries were magic . Pity that Niël Burger had Ray Mort to contend with, he could have been a good Bok too.

PS, Pieter Muller had that same geniepsige vuilgat tactics a few years later.
