Tough coaches often face this kind of thing if success doesn't come easily. Now we have to see if the Sharks go further than the semis without Jake....I have a sense the Bools and The Stormers are going to be tough domestically. Watch for some major egg.

Chippo, almost correct re JW and Matfield.
Re News 24 archive:
The Rapport newspaper reports how Matfield describes an incident
which occurred at a golf tournament in Fancourt shortly after the Boks
won the 2007 World Cup. Matfield said White lost his cool when he told
him he viewed then-Bulls coach Heyneke Meyer as a better coach.
"Jake erupted. He jumped over the table and grabbed me by the collar," Matfield said in his newly released book, Victor: My Journey, which will be available to the public from Monday.
"How
could I say such a thing a few weeks after he had won the World Cup? He
(White) was livid. 'You and Fourie (du Preez) think you can intimidate
everyone, but I won't allow it,' " said White.

Big Vic should have given Jake a hiding. It would not have taken much effort.

If I remember correctly, Jake sent Victor home on his bike from NZ.

Well what we do know is Lardy John and wee victor ruled Bok rugby when Jake departed. We also know that both were unworthy of their places but continued regardless as their hold over ou snorre was total. Thus reaching over 100 tests t omuch uncalled for acclaim.wee victor then tried to make out that Jake was being arrogant because of his world cup win!!! Bwahhahahahaha and we are supposed to suck that one up!! How childish.wee victor can be thankful that Jake didnt bliksem him - I would think ou victor got the fright of his life!
And what of today. Victor continues with the Boks to the detriment of the team. Lardy asked Jake t obecome director of rugby knowing that Jake was a fine coach. I suspect though that lardy didnt give jake the support he shopuld have and Jake like Mitchell - another fine coach, walked. As did Mallet and Rassie at WP.
Lets face facts here. Jake put toether a very good Bok team. It has been said many times if he had not been fired for winning the world cup we would have dominated world rugby. Instead in came the quota coach pdv and we were set back years.Brumbies. Look what he achieved. Sharks recovered under him and were only denied by a huge number of injuries that lead to over playing key players. Now a top European club has employed him. All because he has no clue as a coach we are expected to believe
ou rooitwit then launches another crusade against Jake and ou snapster predicably joins the fray.I think the big problem here is these two in particular have been embarassed by Jake's huge success again and again.
How it will pan out in Europe for Jake? I dont know. he doesnt tolerate a bunch of arrogant polayers thinking they are the coach so it could get heated. If Managment backs him and gives him a decent stint of 4 years at the helm the chances are the club will do very well.

@beeno
1. Lions - departed before contract expired
2. Brumbies - departed before contract expired
3. Sharks - departed before contract expired
There is a common trend here.
I always have been a huge fan and still am.
But there is a common trend going on.
Im actually in the middle of reading his autobiography. really insightful read.
I think it boils down to Jake not knowing how to handle authority who dont agree with him. Its like his first port of call is to walk away. Hee almost did it to the Boks too.
Jakes best role is as a roaming advisor, where he is not contracted to 1 single union or club.
