Kriel is the one new player that could make a difference
Up front, JC van Rensburg returns to lead the side, with Jacobie Adriaanse joining him in the front row. One of CJ van der Linde or Pat Cilliers will be the reserve prop, again depending on the former’s fitness. It speaks volumes for the esteem in which Ackermann holds both van Rensburg and Adriaanse that he’ll pick them ahead of his two Bok props. At lock, Franco van der Merwe returns to join Micheal Rhodes, while Warren Whiteley and Baywatch Grobbelaar start in the back row, ahead of Derick Minnie and Willie Britz. Minnie makes the bench, along with Hendrik Roodt, while the likes of Britz and Paul Willemse are not quite so fortunate.
Lions: 15 Andries Coetzee, 14 Ruan Combrinck, 13 Jaco Taute, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach/ Dylan des Fountain, 11 Anthony Volmink, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Warren Whiteley, 7 Jaco Kriel, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Michael Rhodes, 3 Jacobie Adriaanse, 2 Callie Visagie, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg (captain)
There is a reason he has not played 7 in 2013 and 2014....you work it out cowardly old man.
Moffie was it not you who had the prop numbers the wrong way around. Am sure Rooi took you to task on that? Or am I mistaken?
" Moffie get this into your stupid head Kriel has never played 7, will never play 7 for the simple reason that if you are going to use him as a running flank it will be as a link player not a bruiser who is going to seek contact."
Yawn, and down goes the Vetsak.
Huh??
Kriel has played a lot at blindside ... in fact he's been rather impressive there ...
He started at 7 for the Lions.
Not very attentive are we, Dave?
A powerful mother ... punches way above his weight. Don't regard him as a test blindsider though.
Openside flank comes naturally to him. Would give him the Bok 6 jersey in an instant.
Yes Moffie I was talking about this year.....the year Kriel made an impression and got selected for the Boks......I am not talking about 2012 when he could not make the Lions starting 15.......get it?
Not to mention the fact that we are talking about your ignorant call that Kriel should play 7 for the Boks now......stupidity of the highest order
CC stop speaking shit, Kriel did not start as a 7
"The boks will get hammered week after week"............................... "No wait, I actually meant that they will get hammered week after week against Oz and NZ"
"Kriel has never played at 7"............. "No wait, I meant that he never played at 7, this year............"
Come now Dave ... not only did he start at 7 but he played a lot at 7 with Minnie at 6 and Whitely at 8.
Wake up man!!
Oupa isn't Bok material. He's a quota pick. Nothing more.
Tell you one thing ... I'd rather have Kriel at 7 than Quota Oupa.
Wrong CC, Minnie played 7 with Kriel at 6
No Vlagshit, I am not talking about Kriel when he was a nobody and not featuring as a starter at the Lions......why would I you dunce?
Your confused Dave ... again.
Kriel only played at 6 when Minnie was injured. When Minnie return from injury he was moved to 7 ... Ackerman in his wisdom then kept Kriel at 6.
Try to get it right will you?
Apologies Dave. I've tried to find all the teams sheets for this year but wasn't able to.
That which I did find has Kriel playing 6. Seems I'm mistaken.
Now never doesn't mean never....hahahahahaha....defending the indefensible again Vetsak
Kriel started every other game this season wearing the #6 jersey and I cannot find a single instance of him ever wearing the #7 jersey. Not one.
There's a very good reason why Jaco Kriel wore the #6 jersey in every game he started . . . he's a specialist fetcher with zero experience of playing on the blindside . . . not this year anyway.
Anyone who reckons Kriel doesn't compete on the ground or doesn't play the classic fetcher role for the Lions obviously hasn't watched a lot of rugby this season.
Yep and I have a feeling it was exactly the same in 2013.......but our resident rugby guru Mofgat wants him at 7 for the Boks.......go figure........can he be more bloody stupid?
Just shows how much this ignorant old fool actually knows about the game
LMAO!
Also, you were right earlier when you mentioned the fact that Moffie didn't know how the props were numbered until I set him straight some years ago.
" With zero experience of playing on the blindside . . . not this year anyway."
Wehe....never means not this year.
Now that that's been cleared up, can I take it an apology to Vetsak is in order?
I wonder how many others on this board deserve an apology from you, Arsehole??
You ineffably stupid man Carbuncle....you shouted the odds about Kriel being a seven. I simply said two things....firstly his strongest suit is his running game....secondly that if he plays Bok fetcher(code for six) he will need another flanker who is strong on the deck to help.
I did, however, point out he has played seven in the past, which is of course totally accurate. The two inaccurate fools on this thread are Dave who said he never played seven....and you who said he mostly played seven with Minnie at six.
Now that's cleared up, a word of advice. Don't project your poor research on others.
