Some questions for all of you. Just asking as i'm interested to know what you guys think. Here goes...

How do you guys rate the Boks last year? I'm not asking what ratings you give them individually but rather when you do give them a rating how did you get to your answer considering the shambles that was the coaching and management in 2016.

Which of the new players last year, taking the above into account, do you guys rate are certainly not test material?

Who do we rate the skipper should be, taking into account that we'll want him to take us to the WC in three years.

if Handre Pollard is fit and returns in good form, do most of us agree that he should be given the Bok jersey right away?

How do we feel about the other contenders for the 10 spot? Probably only Lambi and Jantjies to discuss.

If you could pick the coach and assistant who would you take. Be realistic.

Which players would you like to see given a shot this year?

Lourens Adriaanse, Bongi Mbonambi, Willem Alberts, Uzair Cassiem, Oupa Mohoje, Rudy Paige, Francois Venter, Willie le Roux.
Who do we rate the skipper should be, taking into account that we'll want him to take us to the WC in three years.
Warren Whitely in the short term, Skuna Notsh e is my outside bet for the long term skipper, if he proves he's worth his place.

Not really. Pat Lambie is still a strong contender, Robert du Preez deserves a shot and Elton Jantjies must still be considered if he's allowed to play his natural game.

As I said above, Robert du Preez is worth a shot. Closest thing we have to a Honiball-type flyhalf and let's not forget how much arse we kicked when we had a strong flyhalf like Honiball receiving a very flat ball.

Skuna Notshe, Robert du Preez, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Jean-Luc du Preez, Daniel du Preez, Malcolm Marx, Warrick Gelant, Curwin Bosch, Ox Nche . . . in all cases, assuming they perform at Super Rugby level.
How many of you want Bizzie back?

Not me so much. Great player in his day but he was always a bit of a disciplinary liability and he's past it. Also, we have plenty of promising young hookers . . . Malcolm Marx, Edgar Marutlele, Akker vd Merwe etc.

No, there is an enormous difference between the talent availbe and the results under our quota coach.
And finally, does this qualify as a rugby post?
Definitely . . . so expect Moffie to mess up the margins.

I for one was terribly disappointed with the Boks.
Pollard will make a huge difference to the backline and kicks.
Jantjies is not Springbok material in my opinion.........he is way behind Pollard, Lambie and du Preez.His kicking for points is poor, he is petrified when he gets the ball during play and sells his backline short with poor or suicide passes.In short, he is not a test rugby player.
The coach was out of his depth with players, tactics, and the game of rugby. 
Agree with Rooinek on the players to be given a shot and with the pack except for Whiteley. The young du Preez from the Sharks has all the credentials to fill this position. 
WW is a good player but does not have the size or strength for a modern day #8. 
I think the Sharks will win the SA conference in 2017.

There is an enormous difference between the perceived talent in SA and SA potential.

SA can not field a team that would play winner rugby. The players, the coaching, the training, the collective ideas... nothing is there.

Once more, for SA,it is all about getting people to support a team that cant play loser rugby only.
In this department, SA rugby is years behind other countries that play loser rugby.

Rob Du Preez does look like a good player. No doubt his dad has been talking rugby sense into him since day 0. That can't be a bad thing for a fly half. Will be interesting to see how he goes this year.

Lambie, i dunno. He's just never looked like the real deal to me. And he's very slow for a lad his size. For me, if Pollard gets back to 100% then the pecking order would be Pollard, Jantjies, Du Preez, Lambie.

For me Pollard brings good goal kicking, defense and attacks the line. Lambie  pretty much does all of those too, but less well. Du Preez looks a little more creative than either them though. Jantjies is obviously the most creative of the lot and can make magic happen but is a lesser defender than all of the above. I think all their goal kicking stats are within a few percent of each other but i could be wrong.

I'd also go for WW as captain. Everyone says that he's too small but he's the same height as Reid(spelling) and weighs only 4kgs less. I don't hear anyone saying that he is too small. And he brings more pace to the position than most other 8s at test level do and has a nose for the try line. Aside from that, he seems to be a guy that people rally around. Also, he's kinda earned it and i think it would be wise for the Boks to roll with his career momentum and get a bit of that Lions brotherly vide in the dressing room. God knows it was completely missing last year. Problem is, who ever we nominate as captain now probably has to stay in the job until the WC.

I also agree that there is a massive disparity between what the Boks produce this year and what the Boks should potentially e capable of. For example, the young guys that you mentioned as names that you like to see being given an opportunity this year...they'd all stroll into the Italian, Argentinian and Irish teams yeat all those teams beat us last year. That pretty much says it all really.
