If somebody cared to do the analysis, they would find many of our turnovers came in the backs.Every time a Bok centre was tackled it seemed the ball was turned. These out wide turnovers have to be stopped by determined rucking over the ball by the backs. Most to blame here was Mvovo, who lingered outside the contact.

Add his general inability to get involved, his ineffectiveness under the high ball, feeble tackling and fragility with the ball behind him.....and you have a losing package.

Being young and running well, in space doesn't make a player test ready. I'm glad we finally figured this out before playing NZ

Agree Moz. Its a pity because he does run well but you need more than that at this level. Lacks physicality. Hougaard will be better I would think.

Does this further strengthen the call for a fast number 8 like Coetzee to cover the backline a bit? Maybe not as even though the Stormers who had Burger, Vermuelen and Louw as a trio - not that quick collectively - they didnt suffer this problem as I recall.

@beeno it was never a problem because the stormers never played the ball beyond channel 1 or 2. not to far for the bigger players to run but if the tempo is higher and the boks are running from tramline to tramline then the effects will start to show on the bigger players

on mvovo...he is a great runner but for him to be effective he needs quick ball in space. to be fair any wing in the last couple of games that could have performed well in the highly disfunctional bok backline must really be something special.....

we need to be objective. man for man hougaard might be a better option but only if he gets the ball in space with time to play. if the boks play the same pattern hougaard will be nothing more than the catch the ball type of wing.

cant really blame any outside pack for being poor on the day. but i do agree that hougaard is more rounded than mvovo but on attack mvovo can be much more effective than hougaard

mucher we did take the ball wide in those days and we did not lose it.

Mvovo is poor in the tackle ball contest losing it regularly.

As for Hougaard of course he needs players around him to function but he can make things happen - is more of a competitor. Hougaard is better on attack than Mvovo. Watch and learn muncher! Very dangerous wing is Hougaard.

Jalapeno...you obviously know all about bmchming from your comment.

Here is an idea, I'm sure it will be a first for you.

Think before you try posting...a little class goes a long way.

No schooling needed. Morne was bad, but Lazy M threw the game away. Waiting for the ball to bounce? What kinda winger does that?

... Sadly both Steyn and Mvovo (as well as a number of other Springboks) had a bad day at the office on Saturday, it happens. I've no doubt Mvovo feels pretty bad about not catching the kick off. He will be back, he needs confidence and support both from his team mates and supporters. Sure there are better wings (JP), there are also a lot worse. The BOKKE played below par, they know it, we know it, let them get it right and we will be pleasantly surprised at the result ...
