Yes he isn’t as strong as Etzebeth or as fast as Usain Bolt. But he made 31consecutive tackles over 2 World Cup finals without missing one….and he made 47 tackles in the 2023 WC playoffs without missing one.
These are undoubtedly rugby world records which I suspect will never be bettered. And Mostert tends to be the second tackler not the first, which means he is more likely to be tackling players in space.
Why don’t our journalists ever report this stuff….brain dead I’m afraid.
Now if Mostert was an ex-Stormers player we would be swamped with endorsements from all sides.
But unfortunately he will never receive the credit due to him that he has earned on the field wearing the Green and Gold.

His work rate in some tests has been very high. Although he has not really pitched up this year.
Most of the time, I trust Rassie's selections, with the main exception being keeping players like Reinach, Bongi and Koch who will never make the next World Cup. 2 Years out from a World Cup, players that will not make the squad on merit should be phased out.
It is unclear if Mostert is part of this crew.... He has not delivered much this year.
Reinach is taking up a spot that could have gone to Faff Deklerk, who could make the 2027 World Cup
Rassie stuck with Kwagga, who had a very slow start to test rugby. He was never a major standout
Actually the first duty of a lock is to secure lineout ball…Mostert does that as well as any number 5 lock. But he has yet to have a great game since his injury, time will tell.
Mostert was out for a good while. I expect that he'll do better as the year goes on.
Still, he's getting a tad older now and will need to be replaced. I can't understand why Rassie never starts Eben and RG together.
I'm not sold on Nortje yet. He has flashes but then also vanishes from time to time.
Would much rather see Cobus and Elrigh become regulars. I can't say enough how gutted I am for Louw.

I feel like Rassie was looking for a like for like replacement for Mostert in Nortje. But they're really not the same player. Nortje is naturally more of a linking player and doesn't have Mostert's work rate and willingness to operate in the engine room indefinitely.
As much as Fat Dawie despises Mostert, I feel like he's gonna be one of the most difficult guys to replace.
It's crazy to think that almost nothing DDA does can be classed as a dark art, happening at the heart of the battle, but we are told he does some special stuff that we just don't see. Special stuff that is so special that not even slo-mo replays reveal it.
Yet, Mostert, who puts in more tackles than anybody else, in a defence orientated side, goes totally unnoticed by our self-proclaimed rugby professor. And the evidence for Mostert is right there. All you have to do is look. I've watched the WC matches back a few times now and at the end I'm left wondering how any human can get through as much work as Mostert did. The evidence is right there, no xray-Rassie goggles required.
If ever there was evidence of Dave's sheer ignorance, it's his opinions of those two players that rubber stamp it and put it beyond any reasonable doubt.
Nortje is far better than Mostert - a far better athlete, as high a work rate and just an all round better player
Lacks the physical grunt like Mostert so like Mostert I would not select Nortje
