Imagine leaving team selections to these two clowns.......Moffie would mirror Meyer when it comes to rugby.....Denise would struggle with the positions let alone who plays what.
As for cricket my guess is Moffie would want Dave Richardson as the keeper......a kind of Matfield selection
So Moffie what is your enlightened and professional opinion of de Kock then???
No I'm saying he missed a crucial run out opportunity. And flopped in every competitive situation with the bat.
Hahahaha....this couldn't get funnier. According to Tokkie, Amla and Faf should be playing provincial cricket. But he demands de Kock be selected.....and after a poor performance behind the stumps he holes out for 5 with a shot the commentators say should not have been played in test cricket.
....emerged again today. A deer in the headlights when there is movement, Quinton was lucky to survive his first 6 balls. The two foot gap between bat and pad will never lead to consistent results against real swing and sharp spin.
Look I know you have pictures of Quinton on your bedroom ceiling you old Queen, but keep it real...de Kock was a mess in that game.
No I am not blaming one name. I'm not even blaming any name, least of all de Kock who was so obviously overawed by the situation and shouldn't have been there. Rossouw's other poor throw to de Villiers was a loser. Behardien was set to repair the de Kock damage, but Duminy lost his bearings. Steyn bowled a truly pathetic last over. Duminy's over that went for 12 just as we were getting a grip on things and the fact that de Villiers had to take over, didn't help.
But the fact remains if de Kock performed his duties....simple catching of the ball and breaking of the wicket......we would likely be in the WC final. You two groupies are so pathetically dishonest, such classical examples of loser mentality, that you can't even admit that.
A bad bounce....what a total loser you are Dave. Happy to make excuses for your favorites. The ball bounced well in front of him...he missed it with a panicky swipe at the wickets....period.
Mostly he is a member of the sane majority, who recognizes that de Kock screwed up. This was your big call, loudly and intolerantly made. This kid should replace either of the Protea openers. Well his incompetence lost us a shot at the CWC. And you are looking like the moron you are.
He missed a run out at a crucial stage....Rossouw ran in to field the ball threw at the stumps with one bounce. De Kock tried to catch and knock down the stumps in one motion.....and missed the ball completely. He had enough time to simply catch the ball and take off the bails. Any school second team wicket keeper would be expected to pull that off. It was in the last 5 or so overs where the wicket would have been crucial.
He had a chance to redeem himself.....but his keeping at the death was a disaster. Even a school boy wicket keeper doesn't miss that run outchance. And then NZ were running byes on him at will.
This kid should not have been in this game....period.
De Kock's problem is not that he isn't ready....he has played 38 ODIs. His problem is technique. The first time I saw him bat I was amazed that he had such a big reputation already. The gap between bat and pad is a barn door......and when he is nervous he doesn't move his feet at all. That's probably why he spoons catches to mid off.
This isn't going to get fixed with experience, he will get worse as his reflexes lose the bloom and confidence of youth. He is a talented slogger, not an opening batsman.
The run out of Bavuma presented a strong parallel to De Kock's failed run out attempt in the WC semi....a failure which ushered us out of the competition. In both cases the keepers had to make their way to the wickets, Bairstow from far back...and both received skipping throws.
The kid's bat is too far from his pads because he throws it at the ball outside the off stump, while not moving his feet. Thus he is massively vulnerable to the ball that nips back. He needs to be seeing the ball like a spanspek to succeed. That happened for a while.....not any more it seems.
He also missed the stumping to lose the WC. Most high school keepers would have gobbled that up....he panicked.
Actually Dave, the working to leg doesn't bother me as much. It's the lack of foot movement towards the ball and the throwing of the bat at the last opportunity....leaving the biggest gap between bat and pad I can recall in a top order batsman.
Ball 40.3....Elliott is metres out of his ground as Rossouw gathers quickly and under arms the ball. De Kock is at the stumps and has glanced to his right to see where the runner was. The ball comes in about a foot to the right of the stumps off a bounce about five feet in front of de Kock.
De Kock totally misses the ball which goes under his gloves. The commenatator trying to be nice says "the ball skidded on the wet surface" . But it was well up off the deck and with an under arm throw why not expect a lowish bounce?
It was poor. High school level stuff. If we cant expect our wicket keepers to gather in ball like that we can't win WCs.
As the commentator said in the next sentence "if de Kock had caught that he was gone". And that was Elliott. With him gone our chances would have been very, very good. Why we can't just look these things in the eye and admit what really happened beats me....but we have the same two posters trying to spin the incident. So I'm setting the record straight.
There was zero match pressure in that innings and he was in free flow. The moment he faced Boult yesterday he was a deer in the headlights.
Quinton de Kock: 2/10
De Kock was generally sound behind the stumps, but his nerves gave way in the semi-final when he missed at least three run outs. He failed with the bat too; take away his 78 not out in the quarter-final, and his
This from an Indian evaluation of all the teams
remaining seven innings amounted to a mere 67.
mozartActually the reason he totally missed the ball is he tried to catch and sweep the wickets in one motion. He had more than enough time to catch the ball and break the wickets. One of the crucial mistakes that took us out of the WC.
Why bring a player into the team for India, when we know he will flop against the fast swing bowling of NZ and especially Australia.....but if we want him to play he has to bat down the order.
Dave this is how you lose all credibility....he missed the stumping.....we exited the WC. Case closed. As for making my name"mud" ....how silly. I expressed an opinion about a cricket player that happened to be prophetic. I said he would fail at the WC.....I must admit though, I never thought his blooper would lead directly to our exit.
Just caught up on the game Fattie? What happened, never paid your Sky bill again? De Kock is fine until he meets express bowling. Talk us through how he lost us the WC semi. Miller got 30 on the deadest pitch known to man....whoopie doo, talk us through how he flopped in the WC semi.
The botched de Kock run out has hardly been mentioned. The fact is he should have been out twice in his first over....and then played a poor stroke to lose his wicket.
Other key fielding errors:
Quinton De Kock failed to collect a throw from Rilee Rossouw which would've removed Daniel Vettori. This was the easiest chance of those not taken and will leave a scar on the team for years to come, a team that prides themselves on excellent fielding.
A one legged man was hitting sixes one handed on this flat pitch, off these long hops, on this short field...nope I place very little credence in this. Play some bowlers where the ball is whistling through at 148 kph and the gap between bat and pad will emerge as the fatal flaw it is.
I was never really convinced he is an opener. At his best he looks like a fast scoring number 6 batsman and wicket keeper. That feels like a good permanent role.
