Mozart has made enough enemies on site with his crazy idea about rugby.   Who would ever forget his idea about flyhalf having to kick virtually 90% of the time being his norm - in other words the handover ball possession turnover and subsequent defence is his only norm for backline players.   You will never see any comments on anything other than kicking - even aimless and poor kicking he is unable to evaluate - and defense.
The other classic is his idea that breakdown ball protection and recovery is not important and then he moans about players not doing it.  
He never comments on scoring of tries and when he does he twist the info beyond recognition.   When it comes to data - he twist that too because he is very selective in using of stats.   He denies any data not tied in with his BS ideas.   He would not quote stats when it does not support his arguments and only when he thinks it supports his ideas.    If it does not support it - he would blame players for scoring of tries by the opposition claiming a player even 10 meters away should have made the tackle.
He is now sucking up to plum to avoid another "enemy" - too funny for words.   The man is an utter fiool and plum would soon found out about his duplicity.

Good debate guys and like ceradyne comment about jotting names don't make a team. But let's look at successful teams and what they had in common. I recently read an interview with Eddie Jones and his comment was that he has a spine of core players that he simply doesn't drop and invest heavily in them. The all Blacks did the same with Carter and Mccaw. Instead just going on performance. Who should be our springbok core to serve us for the years to come? Not many spring to mind and that is our problem. I can think of my top 5 players but I'll give it a go Marx Etzebeth Vermeulen Pollard Rohan Jansen Jessie Kriel

 
Yes ... I like that list ... apart from Jesse Kriel.

I haven't written Pollard off yet. He was a class act as a youngster and we're out of options at 10. He may still find his way back to form.

Would like to throw Jaco Kriel into the mix if I may.

There is a problem even in the list of players you mentioned.   Problems are the following:-
*    Etzebeth has been so-so thus far in the games played this year - maybe is a good choice though.
*    I do not follow the Top 14 matches as closely as I should - but Vermeulen has been poor for Toulon - matter of fact since his injury he was not the player he used to be.
*    Pollard has been seriously defective after his return from injury and there is no signs that he is going to make the grade in future.    Maybe a proper coach could get him out of the groove he  is at present.
*    Jesse Kriel showed some signs of life at full back in his last game - but for the rest he was nowhere to be seen.
I have a problem with selecting reputation players in the hope that there poor form on Super Rugby will suddenly and inexplicably improve in tests.   A very dicey situation at best that has never worked in the past.
You refer to Dan Carter and McCaw - fact is they were always good performers even though there were signs that they were slowly getting poorer than they used to be.   At the WC in 2015 they were still good enough as test players though.
Now back to the topic.   My 5 will be Marx, Etzebeth, Du Toit, Vorster(since Van Rensburg will be out for months) and Du Preez.
