Surrised to see no thread on the game! However given the result I understand ou JW absence!!! Bwahhaahhahahaha

Hearty congrats to the very gutsy Lions. The blues had some 80% teritory but couldnt win.

At the end the 854 kg Lions scrum was demolishing the 923kg pap Blues scrum.

Personally I think the Lions need a bit more bulk.

Faf was brilliant and transfromwed the game. Has more go in him than any other SA scrummie. Beautiful break by him.

Lions forwards tackled relentlessly.

Blues looked pretty clueless. HAve talent but its not working. Send Sir John to understudy Master Jake! A good schooling might help!

De Klerk should be a bok beeno he changed the game. Wouldent read much into it. The 12 year old Under 12 girls team could of beat that Blues side tonight.

I thought the "power was out" in SA as no one was on the forum. Plus the internet feeds for the game were showing the cricket instead of the rugby for much of the game.
Tough day at the office for the Blues but they won the stats so they won the game, right Beeno?

3 IQ Faf must be a Bok I agree! He is superb. Blues have everything but their problems are intellectual. It may actually be the players as it was the same story when Sir Graham was assisting Sir John and they both got schooled by Master Jake!

JW check the scrum stats Bwahahahhahahaha. I would think the Lions were also fine in the lineouts. So not complete stats domination like the lions versus the blowhard hurricanes.
nz lard 923kg couldnt cope with saffa muscle 854kg. Hahahahahahahaha
Lions should I think have started with Minnie. They need more power at the collisons.
Sorry started watching the tape 30 mins into game.No slac king JW!!
Cloudy will be singing the Blues unfortunately. Its still early days in the comp Cloudy. Blues have big potential but need some advice from Beeno and Master Jake.

Amount of time inside the opposition 25;  time of possession; field position in  general. All meant nothing as they Lions scored points when they got their very few chances. I am sure Beeno comprehends this point

I do JW the scrums put the Blues away. Shunted back like an express train by an 854 kg pack!!! Hilarious. But yes not a game where on the stats the Lions should have won!! Blues need a big rethink - intelectual process - their problem.

I think the blues couldn't execute the final play last week so that's why they lost. This week they seemed to "know" they would not win so all that effort and no points just undermined their confidence. Not a matter of smarts more a matter of a team with no mojo.

Dont agree. Blues try hard but bit too individualistic.Had their scrum been half decent they would surely have won. They lack smarts. Coach not getting best boiut of them. Lions frustrated them by their never say die attitude.

Something is wrong. But can Sir John figure it out. He has had plenty of time. But never say die Cloudy, the Blues have good players so just need to find the formulae. How many matches has Kevin played. C ongrats on a very long career. At his peak he was very good.

Cloudy
The problem with the Blues is they do not need the opposing teams to beat them - they beat themselves.   They attack and attack and attack - then make a blunder which sent them back 50 meters or more and then start all over again - with another repeat performance with the same end.
Don't think it is only the Blues suffering from that syndrome - the Chiefs did exactly the same - no difference.
