Ed, would you please tell Beeno where he should stick his trumpet? He seems to think he should stick it in his ear There are other suggestions as to where he should stick it

3 points to the Landers off a scrum penalty. This could be a long game if Lions can't correct the scrum.

Lions intercept & almost score but could not get the ball down. All against the run or play.

Highlanders win the scrum against the bead on the 5 meter line. Looking good.

Brilliant try on a kick through for the Landers. Landers up by 10 but it took a lot of effort.

Lions get 3 against the run of play. Ya have to give them credit though. Landers need to take advantage of their dominance & get points.

Landers score a long distance try (B. Smith) 3 -18 with the kick good to Landers. 44 mins gone.

Intercept by Landers another try. 22-3 after 44 mins 20 seconds. Kick is good 24-3.

Another long distance try off a turnover. Fekitoa scores. 22 points in 16 minutes as Landers go up 31-3 after 57 mins.
Lions are not playing up to their potential, last game of the tour syndrome or are they just dead tired? Could also be that the Landers are in a different class

Lions score a try after a persistent set of phases. Lions show heart they are a good team. 63 mins gone.
Beeno sleeps through another good game but perhaps that is his best strategy.

Congrats to the Landers, Lions showed their class but did not have what was needed today. Best team in SA? Probably at the moment, did really well on the road.

I see Smith's foot was on the line with the quick throw try. That was a tipping point in the match. Highlanders deserved the win though.

There also were the case of constant inward scrumming - consequently illegal.  If you watch where the props feet was when he entered the scrum he could do nothing but scrumming inward.  A few years ago the Crusaders used the same system and the result was the prop was put on the sideline for a few games and then used as a bench prop.  Scrumming should be properly reffed and this did not happen in this game - giving the Highlanders a huge advantage.
The problem is the ref was not reffing  the scrumming properly and that was clear a number of times.  Faf even told him that the prop was scrumming inwards disrupting the scrum - but the ref ignored that completely.
However, the Highlanders deserve the win and I share Draad's sentiments in this regard.

Not as positive as they were last week - he was up and down.  Too much skip passes creating for instance a loss of at least one try scored by the Highlanders.

So the poster who had earlier pointed out Jantjies as being inconsistent(hot or cold)  is correct?

Yes Denny. I think all of us except Saf are in agreement on that. I don't think Jantjies had such a bad game. Pakie, I watched with half an eye, what did I miss? IMO the Lions played better than the score sugests....against the current champoins at home...they crossed the try line 2 times without scoring, the Landers got a lucky try off the quick putin.  This game was a lot closer. Bad luck Lions, well played Landers. Hard fought match.

Is it fair to say that we had some on our best young talent up against some of the best young Kiwi talent?

Denny, I would say that all the best young talent is not in either team.
Some of the best young talent is in both teams though. We have players like McKenzie in the Chiefs, and there is some really good young talent in the Blues.
SA must have some decent talent coming through that is not in the Lions team. The Lions and the Landers are looking good at this stage of the season.
