Springbok lock Lood de Jager has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a shoulder injury. While the injury kept De Jager out of the Vodacom Bulls’ match against the Lions at Ellis Park last Saturday, it was initially thought that he would be able to return to the field after a couple of weeks on the sideline. However, according to Netwerk24, the Bulls captain will now have to undergo surgery on his shoulder and is not expected to play again this year. The news will come as a big setback to both the Bulls and Boks, as De Jager was part of Rassie Erasmus’ plans for the upcoming World Cup in Japan. Zimbabwe-born lock Eli Snyman (23) slotted in for De Jager against the Lions, but the Bulls should have RG Snyman fit to play in the coming weeks.

Mozart

Are you sure about your source?

Any news like that would make headlines on News24, timesonline, Planet Rugby and  Rugby 365 and will definitely be on the Bulls website,  Nothing other than that he was due to see the specialist in  Tuesday last week and if he was to be operated on it would have happened last week.

Sorry - but I would wait till there are reliable  confirmation of that' story.

It is true, he is going to be out for most of the year. Touch and go for WC selection. Though he wasn't good enough for the Boks anyway.

Probably journalists trying to get the scoop before they had all the info. Still, no guarantee he'll be match fit for the WC.

And some idiot on here reckons Lood is not good enough for the Boks - what a joke. He is one of the best locks in the game. In fact only Retallick and Etzebeth are better. Can’t think of one single NH or Oz lock that is better.

Mostert and Snyman comprehensively out played Treeman last year. Show me where Lood has been an asset to the Boks, in any of his tests.

Mostert is the best middle of the lineout forward in the country.....Etzebeth best in front. Mostert was crucial to retaining Marx at hooker. Marx and Stephanie weren't hooking up. In general play Mostert's defensive numbers were better than Stephanie, who is marginally the better runner. The dirty little secret about Stephanie nobody wants to deal with is that he loses a lot of lineout ball.....which is why he is playing at 7.

This type of campaign against De Jager is total BS,   He was by some distance out best no 5 and the campaign against him is unbelievable.   I could literally hear the cheers of Silly Billy and Mozart abut the news - but am afraid as per normal they have a Mostert support group on site.

They first of all wanted Du Toit out of the Springbok squad and the Mostert campaign started and kept going on despite the signs that he weakened the Tight 5.   Now suddenly is a worse lock than    Lawes, Kruis, Itoje, Lose-Jones, Vahaamahina, Toner and Ryan.

That is I am afraid serious disinformation without a shred of evidence to support it.

Oh what crap, Mostert offered nothing with ball in hand. Never makes an impression in contact, in fact spends most of the time getting smashed backwards. The guy effects nice low tackles but you never see him smashing anyone. He offers nothing in the engine room. His lack of physicality must negatively impact the overall scrum performances of the Boks. He is nothing special in the line outs, he is hardly a Matfield. I reckon Snyman is a better middle of the line out jumper. I don’t believe he is any better in the line outs than Lood and PSDT and if he is it’s very very marginal and nowhere near important enough to outway the physicality the likes of Lood, PSDT and Snyman bring to the role. Why you find favour in such a lightweight lock at test level is beyond me - I just don’t get it. You are clearly taken by his energy but fail to pick up on the lack of productivity. I thought you were more astute. Backing Mostert is nearly as bad as backing Albert v d Bergh in his day

Mostert handled himself well. Lood did absolutely nothing. Reference one positive contribution. I bet you can't. He is slow, ponderous, has hands of stone and the tackle radius of a jaffa cake. He doesn't have a lot of endurance either. A flat track bully for a few carries then he fades away.

Aug I’m not interested in debating rugby with a clown. I certainly don’t sit around naming specific contributions by a player, I could not do that for any player you idiot let alone Lood. Name a single positive contribution from Mostert at test level in contact situation - be it carrying the ball in contact or putting in a big hit. The standard requirements of a test lock. You are big on video footage - show me where powder puff Mostert makes an impression physically - come on huff and puff

Around 25 minutes into the French test, he carries it up breaking the tackle of a French loosie. He protected the ball from a strip as he drove his way forward through the tackle of two Frogs.

"Aug I’m not interested in debating rugby with a clown."
LMAO!
Couldn't agree more. Discussing rugby with Omlett here is like discussing good parenting with Michael Jackson . . . or debating the merits of democracy with Robert Mugabe . . . or asking Baboon-ou for his world view.
Omlett is just another Servile Gimp who parrots his massster's equally laughable rugby statements. Moffie says Pieter-Steph is crap and Omlett here is telling us all how he analyzed (I think he meant analized) every minute of rugby Pieter-Steph ever played and came to the same conclusion as Moffie. Moffie says "Vinny Vunipola should play for England and Omlett starts attacking anyone who dares to suggest it's not Vinny but Billy (or Mako . . . who knows?). Moffie expresses his man-love for Fat Fransie so Omlett starts calling Fransie the greatest centre of all time.
It's hard to stomach sometimes but quite amusing at the same time.
Can't say I agree with you about Franco Mostert because he plays with a lot of heart but Lood is a big loss and the Bulls are very lucky they have the grafter Jason Jenkins and this new kid Eli Snyman to cover for Lood and RG Snyman.
No shortage of quality locks in the SA Super Rugby sides but we are very thin in a few other positions.

Here is the real story about the De Jager injury from news24:-

"A shoulder injury will sideline Bulls captain Lood de Jager for the rest of the Super Rugby season, the Pretoria-based franchise said on Monday.

Originally, the forward was expected to be out of action for only two weeks after being forced to leave the field during a loss to the Jaguares in Argentina.

However, the injury proved more serious and he will have surgery on Tuesday and be out of action at least until the end of June.

"Lood will return only at the end of the Super Rugby season," confirmed Bulls doctor Herman Rossouw.

The Super Rugby season ends on July 6.

The prolonged absence of De Jager, 26, is a major setback for three-time former champions the Bulls, who have won two of their three Super Rugby matches this season.

But Rassie Erasmus was a relieved South Africa coach after reports on Monday said the De Jager injury would also rule him out of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan which starts in September

De Jager has won 38 Test caps and will be a strong contender for a Springboks starting place as they seek a third world title after triumphs in 1995 and 2007.

The South African Test season begins on July 20 with a Rugby Championship match against Australia at Ellis Park in Johannesburg"

I am afraid I have to disappoint you and Silly Billy about your hopeful statement of D e Jager being out for the year,   He is likely to be back before the Rugby Champions Cup - which would mean that Mostert won't be selected again.    .   .

I see the requested clip is about as forth coming as the requested match 23 ... but then again what's new from ol Poepol.

He loves to fabricate ... he can be so dramatic when it comes to players he likes ... giving them all kinds of attributes, skill sets, even intellect ... where clearly none exist.

A doos of note ...

Mostert is one of Rassie' favourites and will undoubtedly be in the WC squad ... he is a class act and may not be the type that some like but .. not physical enough blah, blah, blah ... but bear in mind that he's playing at 5, and isn't expected to be the bruiser of the tam. His line out skill set cannot be matched by anyone in South Africa.

The Lions have missed him big time ... not only for his line out skills but also for the incredible work rate he brings.

Mostert is twice the "lock" wee matfiled ever was (Matfvled was a line out jumper and backline wannabee not a lock.. However give me a Lood any day. Nice big pacy genuine lock.

As for Du Toit one can safely say he is the best 7 in world rugby right now. Don't even think about him moving to lock other than in an emergency. One suspects Dr Moz is warming to D u Toit.

Don't you understand English - Mozart burst out in joy when he claimed that De Jager is out for the year and he was joined in that by Silly Billy and Pakie.   It is terrible that some people rejoice about injury to players.  Be careful - you are very near to be shamed yourself.

Now your ignorance is just about total.   Knowledgeable people think that De Jager is a top class lock and Erasmus announced last year that his ideal lock combination would be Etzebeth and De Jager,   In the meantime the hate campaign against Du Toit went on overdrive and that is still ongoing at full pace - so a wonderful discovery of Mostert was engineered and all his limitations negated,   He has serious negatives as a lock - even Gloucester normally uses him as a 7 - not as a lock.

Dave is right - there is a structure of locks suitable for selection - so now we have a typical idiot coming up with an idiotic statement and calling for clarification - that reflects badly and indicates imbecility.

So go and hide in the corner Dunce - you are too stupid to discuss anything on site,
