Not getting between you and Beeno, but correct...The Theory is that God is eternal and is outside of creation.
The Atheist view was always (and still is) that the universe is eternal too. If not, something had to cause the beginning. ..and that was not acceptable.
With Hubble's discovery of bacground radiation, it showed that the universe was still expanding...well I am a bit dodgey on all the detail, but it apparently implied that everything started out of "nothing" 13B years ago.
I know that Rooi and some other clever people would like to call that "nothing" a singularity, containing everything... but then the theory starts getting too complicated...and the math, physics and thermodynamics doesn't work quite right either.
That does not mean that God exists, it means we don't understand the science yet.
God is not a wizzard with a wand. He is The Entity who created Nature to do his bidding...and He is the greatest mathematician ever....amazing how everything in the univers fits together like a infinate puzzle .
