Malherbe vs Marais

Two penalties against Malherbe, at least one for scrumming. The Stormers won one epic scrum before the half, but that was because Van Dyk folded. Having looked carefully at every scrum, Malherbe held his shape but was moving back in almost every scrum. He never took one step forward, not as bad as the hammering Marcel Van Der Merwe got, but a drubbing nonetheless . We are still looking for a Bok tighthead who  is a dominant scrummager.

Wrong there was no issue with Malherbe at all.....there was nothing in the scrums.

 Malherbe is a big weighty fella ... it's the lard around his mid section that keeps him sort of competitive.
He tends to lean on his opponent and hope for the best. He doesn't have much physical strength. 
We're looking for someone with raw power.   
Best we have is Redelinghuys.  
Pity that Dylan Smith and Malcolm Marx didn't make the squad.
Puzzling.

I think the team was essentially chosen before yesterday. Smith and Marais are the only looseheads who put in dominating performances in the matches thus far. Neither make it. It has to be so dicouraging for these kids. If they have any overseas offer, why should they not go.....not for money, for pride.

These youngsters all have dreams of playing against the best in the world. 
It's only in this country where talent and passion count for nothing.   
I too would look to greener pastures had I the talent.
