Mann-Rea got a week suspension

All this talk about a red or yellow card for Mann-Rea has now been resolved.  The red card was justified as is proven by the suspension.   
What I could not understand is why Cane was not subjected to a judicial enquiry  for the attempt to strangle an Argentinian player by using his forearm when the man was pinned to the ground.   That resulted in the player having to carry the player off the field on a vehicle and apparently ending up in hospital.
That is and should be t he basis for at least a 6 week suspension to my mind.

thanks for the info.  I always liked Cane as a player and constantly wrote on this site that I think he was the most worthy of potential successors to McCaw as a loose forward.  However, I did not like what happened on Sat urday and hope he can get his act cleaned up.  

Injury to Jaquares player looked really serious. Some are already questioning the change in rule that allows entry from the side of the ruck because it results in the player that his hit getting hit from the side, a more vulnerable position. 
Cane is not a dirty player. All in the hands of the judiciary now.

My problem is that it never entered the mind of Pollock to penalize Cane for any offence.  There was a number of refereeing blunders made in games this weekend - and the Cane incident is one of those.
As I said I always was an admirer of Cane and I do not admire any dirty player.  He has a clean record up to now and I think he may have learned a lesson in this case.

Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play."

The real problem is that the ref did not even award a penalty after this offence was committed.    That I believe was not poor reffing, but crooked reffing enabling in the end the Chiefs to win the game.  

Calls get missed or second guessed, inspite  of TMO & assistant refs. Making the jump to corrupt refs, etc is a big leap & often is simply "Beano-istic" behavior. 

Its a "weak" suspension.
Should have been longer. Holding Kebble by the shirt and throwing haymakers and elbows.

I am not Beeno - but I am perturbed when a player is seriously injured and the referee does not ask for a review of what happened.   That indicates a serious deficiency by the referee - not that Pollock is a top referee anyway - he is not on the test panel anymore and he was negligent in this case.
If any action was taken against Cane - the chances of the Chiefs winning the game would have gone out of the window - so there is a serious question mark about the referee in this case is fair and reasonable.
