Where he belongs for Ulster....why does it take a foreign club to work out where he should be playing? Hell he is huge these days no doubt spent all his injured time in the gym. His bisceps would give Etzebeth some competition. Perfect 8 - physical with high work rate and good pace.....was always too big for 6 too athletic for 7 Would be my Bok 8 - easy decision

Would have been my Bok 8 too. Not any more. Overseas players should focus on keeping themselves fit for the clubs that pay them loads of money. No room in the Springbok setup for mercenaries. We'd rather have the okes who play for the badge . . . or what's left of the badge anyway.

I'd certainly rather have Coetzee than Whiteley.

Whitely is one of the best players you've got. You've got far better players in your own country then NH.

Whitely is not nearly physical enough for a test 8 great pronvincial player. Rooi we have enough issues with the Bok side without excluding foreign based players. Given the volume of young players leaving SA we simply can't afford to exclude them. Most my starting pack are foreign based....Kitshoff, Bismarck, Marcel v/d Merwe, Jacques du Plessis and Coetzee...not to mention the impressive Paul Willemsecat lock as a strong contender. We simply can't afford to exclude players looking to better themselves financially - would you turn down 5 times your current salary to stick around in the hope of joining the Coetzee circus?

If I was in charge, you would only be eligible to play for the Springboks if you were signed to a Super Rugby or Currie Cup franchise. No exceptions.
Looking at the various Super Rugby squads this year, I reckon I could pick a side that would thrash your Northern Hemisphere showboaters . . . assuming they had half-decent coach.

The future of SA is to grow into a nation sized Kolmanskop.

What happened in Kolmanskop is bound to happen on SA scale. That is the result of excellent men's work.

Patriots would do that. Excellent men destroy though. Hard to feel attached to a place you are going to destroy any way.

If there were any player able to get a SA team to play winner rugby, they would be in the team.
Coetze's lack of proficiency is not enough to cover for this matter of fact. Neither is the quota policy.

SA no longer cant afford pretending. They cant emulate England and their make believe rugby project.
SA rugby must win and win against the odds as SA is less and less of a profitable customer for WR.
Talks are already on to get rid of SA at this international level to make room for more profitable customers like Russia, Japan etc

Yet excellent men, as per usual, are unable to face the consequences of their actions, will find scapegoats to spill their  hatred on.

I hear you Rooi but completely disagree.....if I was in charge I'd want access to every available player and a player like CJ Stander would never have slipped my net.
Most of our talent is at home, but I'd want Willie, Goosen, Hougaard, Groom, Kitshoff, Bismark, Marcel v/d Merwe, Koch, Willemse, Jacques du Plessis and Marcel Coetzee in the mix......add the likes of Arno Botha, Ollie Kebble etc who are jumping ship soon.

There is no NH rugby which overlaps our test season....and arguably the chaps will be better prepared for the tests playing in the NH than Super Rugby. Missing the over long, wide open Super Season is a good idea, as is selecting best players. If they are excluded, what are the castoffs to do but qualify to play for 6 Nations teams. So that's really smart....our very best players are courted to play overseas and we then gift them to England, France and Ireland. There's your brain dead strategy.

 
The french league runs for 10 months as an example. Players must take a break.

France changed their selection policy and dropped the selection based on merit.
England is on a different course (not foreign based players) but it leads to the same end.
Unlikely that Ireland, Wales or even Scotland call massively SA players in their squad for various reasons.
