I thought both bros were gonna break into the squad and be Bok stalwarts with their size and strength but man they have hands like cows udders, Durban humidity and bar of soap ball maybe?

Still ones to watch going forward.

Is Jean Luc still injured?

Marcell looks like a burnt out old plodder but on limited viewing.

For once ou rooitwvt is talking sense. Du Preez looks like the answer. That said on the YE tour against France and England a real proven powerhouse like Vermuelen could be used to tame the Poms.

xavi, not to insult you but I always question how much rugby someone has watched when they drone on and on about the du Preez brother's ball handling.
They are more skilled than most backs. It's not a weakness, it's actually one of their great strengths . . . but watch them and focus on their handling and then tell me if I'm crazy.
Jean-Luc played the second half of the Currie Cup game last weekend. No sign of Dan though but he may have been rested.

Correct in the sense that JL du Preez made the most offloads in Super rugby....but he was also in the top 10% for balls lost as was Dan du Preez. Interestingly our second best offloader was Snyman, who seems to have adopted the offoad as his signature move. Most South African balls lost by a big margin.....Stephanie

Coetzee couldn't even leave an impression on the Kings as a ball carrier. He is not as strong as you think. Not even remotely close. We have many much stronger loose forwards, even Kolisi is stronger.

Listen here numpty I can’t take any of your shit seriously. Coetzee makes the likes of Whitely look like a little boy. Talk us through de Allende not being strong either. Let me guess you don’t think Marx, Etzebeth and the du Preez twins are strong either

Dave .....Whiteley is not a power loosie, much like Kolisi he is best in space. But he is a more secure tackler than Kolisi and very smart. Also a great leader. Absent Whiteley's brilliant chase back and tackle on Perenara we don't win in NZ. We can play Kolisi or Whiteley....playing both ratchets up the burden on the tight five.

Disagree Moz, Kolisi has power always seems to bust tackles. Whitely is a good player but just not test standard as he lacks physicality. We need an 8 in the Vermeulen mould but he is getting on hence my calls for a match fit Marcel Coetzee or Dan du Preez

Whitely had a good running game, but that has disappeared. He was Bok captain 2 years ago- and gets injured playing pub rugby in Japan....

@Rooinek.

Guilty as charged. I have watched hardly any Currie Cup lately if at all.

It's always the mistakes a player makes that one remembers so if they've improved, great!

Whiteley punches well above his weight. One of our better cleaners as well. Something that would have been useful on this tour.

Saffy, stick around for my season review of Damian and André. It's going to be quite revealing. I can't wait to see the Damian fan girls squeal when they see it.

The guy who rates good performers as poor and poor players as good is the laugh of the year.   One knows what he would come up with video clip - so it won't warrant looking at it.

I for one look forward to the Allende file.....lots of tractoring, no offloading. Apart from running in the unopposed try Kolisi created for him I can't think of anything this player contributed. And I can think of tries he botched....like not getting the ball through to Kolbe against the AB. Perhaps I'm wrong....but honestly that's a long shot.

So that's Rooi and Saffy to the list of dissenters. Why am I not surprised. Rooi has to go the extra mile and insult a member's intelligence. That'll come in handy later. Loose lips are a key ingredient when making an omelet.

Steph contributes, Damian doesn't. Mostert has been much improved since the second Puma test. I'm not necessarily a fan, but I  am not going to talk down what he has done. Committing far fewer errors than Steph. He deserves some credit.

Damian was comprehensively outplayed by André this year. Ponderous is a word that come to mind. A very technically flawed player. Can't sum up situations, weak in contact and positionally poor. Just isn't very good. He is more a 13 than a 12, but without the defence to play 13.

Aug you speak utter horse shit. Esterhuizen has been very good this year for the Sharks, but at best solid for the Boks. de Allende on the other hand has been both good for the Stormers and Boks. He was great against the AB’s comprehensively outplaying SBW. However Serfontein is our best 12 and I’d like to see Vorster given a go, no 12 runs better lines than him

Yes Dave, I also still like Harold Vorster. Whatever he's lacking in sheer pace or line-breaking ability, he makes up for it with solid defence and general rugby smarts. Reminds me a lot of the underrated Brad Barritt.

He is no slower than any of our other 12’s has a great rugby brain as you say. Beats defenders running great lines. When he played for the Barbarians, Will Greenwood was the backs coach and he raved about Vorster saying England could do with him. I rate Greenwood as one of the most astute rugby brains in the business.

So walk us through JJ is going to be the best since Gerber. Vorster is too slow, he has no weapon to test a good defence, he was toothless in the Super final.....7 runs for 4 metres, no defenders beaten, 2 turnovers. A nothing.

JJ outplayed his Kiwi opponents, got unfairly shafted and never recovered. At the time he looked the best we had had at 13 for some time. But he lacked the hard edge to fight back. I stand by my call at the time but concede he lacked the hard edge much like Jantjies. As for Vorster bullshit re his speed he is no slower than Serfontein, de Allende, Esterhuizen, Frans, Venter or Odendaal but apart from Serfontein has the best rugby brain of the lot. As for the final the whole Lions side was crap. Unfortunately Vorster and Janse van Rensburg both suffered with the Lions political need to always start with Mapoe at centre. Greenwood summed Vorster up perfectly, this man is a pleasure to listen to on Sky....the sooner he gets involved in coaching the better, he is wasting his talents in the Sky studio. Vorster has the best rugby brain of all our centres - reminds me of Smith of NZ

Vorster vs the Tahs in the semi....5 tackles made/4 missed. Bog ordinary....as is Stepfontein, as is Allende....Esterhozen at least is a big unit. The only decent centre playing in RSA since the WC was Hugh Jones.

Will Greenwood coaches Maidenheads u14's. His lad played flyhalf last time we played them.

They beat us by one score then. We're  due a rematch at our place soon.

Moz I’ll say it again you know stuff all about centre play. It astounds me that you have not grasped the modern day centres standings. Which current test centre can be assured of his place? Big fat zero - why is that, is the rugby world suddenly deprived of world class centres? Or could it be that the game has changed so much that dominant individuals no longer exist especially at centre, the pivot of creative play? Moz you need to broaden your outlook to the current and stop measuring centres against the Gerbers and O’Driscoll days. With structured modern defences you will never see a centre ripping defences apart week after week

There are dominant individuals at centre. We don't produce many of them. We should be holding our centres to much higher standards, and certainly not entertaining the mythical figures we are routinely saddled with.

In my view the Springbok number 8 of the future is neither of the players mentioned.   Ever since his Under 20WC  performances - where eh was the Player of the Tournament scoring tries in every match in that tournament - I have always said Augustus is the future Springbok no 8.

Fact is he has a number of real assets:-

*   Physical Strength

*   Pace

*   Ball skills

*   Ball sense

I believe he is a better player than either of the Du Preez twins and Ackerman as Springbok 8  will be.
