Ag foeitog -  despite all the lectures and proof provided that fairy tales are not really true - poor AO still believe in it.   I suppose you he will be equally stupid in 2019.  Have a nice break at cloud 9 - you will need a real rest taking into account the volume of BS you will be shoveling aound on site.

Fringe tackles indeed Pakie....I call them process tackles. They are almost certain to be made. Stephanie's year rests heavily on the number of process tackles he made. Put any other test lock or flank in that first tackling slot and they would produce similar numbers. Vermeulen, Marx and Louw are the three primary players who link up with the first tackler to secure turnovers. So it's ignorant to expect them to make as many tackles as the first tackler. Watching Coetzee against Munster is what you don't want from your fetcher....getting over the ball and being unable to rip the ball away. Not the case with Louw, Vermeulen and especially Marx.

Listen Mozart

I would rather have process tackles than what some so-called players made what you call real tackles, because they are so small in number, it is practically useless in games,  It obviously is a ploy to advocate useless low work rate players as candidates for selection.

You are as per normal dreaming about what Louw and Vermeulen in fact produce at present,

I have never heard such a lot of airy fairy statement s from what should be real fugby enthusiasts for years,   Keep it up - it really is funny in the extreme.

I think you have put your finger on the problem Tokkie....not enough real tackles. Let's examine Pakie's stillshots: Image 2....Stephanie is the primary tackler, but the Bargies have burst through the tackle actually making contact with the hovering fetcher. This occurs in no other instance. This kindof feeble tackling makes a mockery of fetching tactics. Thanks for pointing that out.

In the Argentina game Steph only hit one player backwards one on one: a big hit on Sanchez when he countered from a kick and ran into traffic. The only other instance on a player with momentum was a driving tackle in tandem with Marx. He also flattened a stationary kick receiver in tandem with Esterhuizen.

There's not necessarily anything wrong with that. Not many players consistently hit their opponents back in the tackle: that's tough to do when someone of equal weight comes at you with momentum. But let's quit the superman hype attached to this player, nonsense like "he is the one SA player who make sure the ball is placed near to perfect when he is tackled". As if none of the other Boks know how to present a ball when tackled. He's a good honest grafter, but he's not a god.

Put any other test lock or flank in that first tackling slot and they would produce similar numbers.

Exactly Moz. The two Argentine locks for example amassed 20 and 24 tackles respectively against Ireland, where Ireland won 145 rucks in the game. Henderson made 22 for Ireland against England, the prop Furlong 18. England won 138 rucks in that game. It's not difficult to tell why these tight forwards have such high numbers - all those tackles around the fringes.

In Pretoria against NZ Steph only made 5 tackles and our two locks only 8 between them. The reason is clear when we see that NZ only won 50 rucks in that game.

Pakie

So how many tackles were made in the two tests and how many were missed by Louw,   Why is it that Du Toit is under constant attack by BSters like you and Mozart - while Louw is being praised to high heaven,

Now tell me how is stated that in the tackles of Louw  knocking players backwards and Du Toit with three times the number of tackles made did only 1?

Suddenly Du Toit made only 5 tackles in the AB game - sure it is a fact - but Vermeulen only made 3 and that is not worth mentioning at all,

As I said previously I m sick and tired of BS being spread  going for hardworking players like Du Toit and praising low work rate players on site,    It is based not on fact - but prejudice,    Keep it up though - it is extremely funny to see how desperate you two BS get in spreading the stuff.

I didn't criticize the low tackle count in the AB game - I explained why it was so low. If you get off the defensive and try to comprehend what is being said you'll do a whole lot better.

Pakie

Get it straight - I criticize all players and that include Du Toit at times as well.    However - I do it based on fact and not stories dreamed up by members on site,

Lets look at the AB test as an example.   The AB's realized that the way to play the game was to play the ball wide and was desperate to get the ball to Ioane and ben Smith  - which reduced the number of  tackles around the fringes as you claimed,

There was a number of tackles made late in the game with the AB's attacking with their forwards and they got over the line - the final try being scored by Barrett,   You and Mozart praised Mostert - but a weak effort by Mostert allowed for that try,   Not a word about that by the two of you.   However, the previous tackle to that was Du Toit and the tackled player went down straight.

My problem is that if Du Toit fouled up the Barrett tackle you would write a book about the tackle and we would here that for years to come.   Because it was Mostert involved the silence on that one was deafening,

I like objectivity in all cases - but that is never expected from the two of you,    Because of that I am always supporting players the two of you and AO single out for attack.

Actually I was the one who pointed out Mostert's high body position originally, which is the only reason you noticed it. Whether he could have stopped the try anyway is debatable. It was too close to the line.

The AB's realized that the way to play the game was to play the ball wide and was desperate to get the ball to Ioane and ben Smith  - which reduced the number of  tackles around the fringes as you claimed,

Er yes, that is what I pointed out in my post further up - how little ruck play the All Blacks engaged in. You're backing up what I said, but you're too busy looking for an argument to realize it .

Funny this. One hell of n argument following a post praising Coetzee to high heaven after being named MOM in a game. The songs and praises come from the same people who rubbishes Victor Matfield being named MOM in a RWC final.

Pakie

Sorry to disappoint - but I did not take particular notice of what you wrote.   I have repeatedly said that Mostert is a weak tackler compared to Du Toit - but you lot never discussed that - you wanted to concentrate on Du Toit only.

Ceradunce

Dimmest of all - Matfield did not deserve the MOM in the bronze medal play-off , it was just a farewell gift,   Matfield was not the best player that day as was proven over and over again.   The game was against the Argentine "B" team in any event.

Fact is that Matfield was dismal during the rest of the WC anyway - should never have been in the squad at all.

Apart from the fact that you had the wrong game, you also have no source, other than your own suspect opinion, as evidence of the idea that....... “...... Matfield did not deserve the MOM in the bronze medal play-off , it was just a farewell gift, .....” and that....” Matfield was not the best player that day as was proven over and over again.” I have told you time and time again that you have a massive problem when it comes to reading comprehension. In fact, quite a number of people have been trying to tell you that but you still don’t get it. Maybe it is actually because of your lack of comprehensive skills that you fail to get it. Maybe I should cut you some slack. Hahaha.

OK

I must have realized that Ceradunce brain stopped functioning in 2007 - nothing happening since has no meaning whatsoever,   The poor bugger also forgot that virtually nobody was critical of Matfield in 2007 - it is the farce he made after returning from retirement that was criticized.

How can anyone living like that in a  dreamworld at present is beyond the understanding of all reasonable thinking people..

Who was critical of Matfield in 2007 - bar perhaps Beeno?   I cannot really remember anybody else, but one thing is sure and that is that it was not me.

The only thing I said for years was that I disliked the fact that he was too often amongst the centers  frustrating backline attacks, but that was not any real issue at all, since it was never intended as a reason  I supported for dropping him from the team.

Listen doffies - I have up to 2014 never denigrated Matfielkd - the way you and the BS crowd denigrated  players mostly without any sound reasons whatsoever,    There was ample reasons why Matfield should never have come back and destroyed his reputation in the way he did through piss-poor performances. .

Your first lie is utter BS.   I never attacked Matfield before 2014 = FACT

The lies spread by Mozart and you lot about players you are prejudiced against are endless and to deny that is a huge distortion of  the truth.  Just read this thread and think before the BS flows like lava from your mouth whenever you speak,.

Naming wee matfied MOM in the 2007 RWC must rank as one of the most stupid calls ever. His try savi ng tackle only happened because he was as per usual shunning the work of a tight forward.

Worst Bok "lock" ever!

From Wales Online (hardly a Bok biased source).....team of World Cup 2007: 5. Victor Matfield (South Africa) South Africa’s lineout master was man-of-the-match in the World Cup final, and just for good measure pulled off a try-saving tackle on England centre Mathew Tait. The world’s best lock since John Eales.

Why do you guys insist on dragging out the elderly?

Let us rather focus on the young .... those we can build a future on ...

Marcel had his time ... he was never that impressive anyway ... and will undoubtedly be less of a player now tha n he was 5 years ago.

Time to move on ...
