After a slow start to test rugby, he now seems to get better with each performance. So much so that a starting spot needs to be made for him.

Maybe shift Koiisi to blindside flank. Kolisi actually had a very good game against the All Blacks.

Kwagga put in his best performance so that is also a factor in the next test selection. Kwagga would be better at openside than as a blindsider.

Although Van Staden is a specialist 6 bringing balance to the backrow, and he brings more physicality to the team.

No point in moving Kolisi as PSDT will be straight back in the starting 7 spot as soon as he is fit The sooner the better - he has been sorely missed

PSDT is out for the season. His first rugby game will probably be in Feb next year.

Van Staden could be our first legitimate test fetcher since Brussouw….early days but he has the equipment.

So far so good. He has looked strong in contact and free of errors. Right now, 6.Van Staden, 7.Kwagga, 8.Wiese looks the best combination.

Thor hasn't been good. Wiese has been by far the best and only guaranteed generator of momentum. Wiese has been quite a lot better than Thor. In fact, even after his omissions for Thor, Wiese was top 5 in the competition for metres gained. We don't have other options that replicate that level of production. Performance, not reputation.

I made the call on Van Staden long before anyone else here. Almost two years ago now.
Any guess which poster recently said this...
"Kwagga is our best specialist fetcher alongside Marx. Van Staden is another unskilled lump."
To be fair, he probably wasn't watching much of Marco in local games.

Apparently, the Boks won 16 turnovers, which is very high for a test match. Many of these were just used to set up another kick and chase, instead of counterattacking on overlaps.

Marco had an anonymous test debut and then sort of disappeared off the radar. If he's come back fighting, good for him.

No, you can pull your head out of your arse because you weren't the first. Here is Dense talking van Staden up in August 2018 which is three years ago . . . long before you.

My first impression of v Staaden was that he was dumb muscle but I changed my opinion of him this year after seeing his performances for the Bulls There is more to him than his low centre of gravity and strength

He was actually pretty poor for the Boks in 2018. Reckless even, such as that awful intercept try he threw against Argentina, and didn't have any physical presence. It's still very early days. The team is playing so badly that mediocre play looks like note-worthy production. I think he is heading in the right direction, but I'd like to see what he is like when the game is tight, and not wide open in the final stages. A proper solid test. Kwagga and Wiese have ticked all of the boxes, but Marco has yet to do that.
