Mostert takes a soaring throw.....brings it down perfectly....Stephanie is on the left flank, but upright, pulling not pushing.....he swings across the front of the maul ineffectively pulling at it, then pops out behind the maul....Mostert meantime after briefly being lifted is pushing strongly and binding in defenders. Bongi breaks across the tryline.....which is the line directly in front of the maul in Pakie's pics......you are so clueless you obviously think it's the next line. But given how close the tryline is and Stephanie's west to east orientation, he obviously has no material effect....thanks for asking.

Mozart and AO

A twisted description as per normal.    Mostert takes the line-out and try and form a maul.  The effort does not work and the maul went backwards - with Mozart pushed into the air with both feet of the ground,   Miraculously he started the forward move with both feet in the air and that is where he stayed until the forward movement gained momentum/  Du Toit afterwards joined by Vermeulen caused the maul to start  going forward - not Mostert..

Can you just explain how Mostert with both feet off the ground and the maul going backwards managed to get his feet back on the ground in the middle of the maul.   That is a physical impossibility - but you may twist it that it could happen.   A man can turn around in the air in a  maul situation with both feet in the air - he can come down to earth miraculously and can show great physical strength to do the impossible.

This is going to be hilarious - I am waiting for total idiocy here.

Okay, now that we've seen the biased opinions, here is what actually happened.
Mostert:
1. Mostert cleanly takes a line out throw, though it must be mentioned that it is a very easy take because it is an uncontested line out. 2. Mostert then sends the ball backwards within the mall, as is standard practice, and starts driving along with his team mates towards the French line while still facing backwards. At 83.56 his feet are lifted off the ground by the French forwards getting underneath him and lifting him up. From minute 83:56 to 84:01 Mostert has no impact on the forward momentum on the maul because his feet are off the ground. 3. The French forwards then drive to their left (or possibly the Boks drive to their left), spinning the front of the mall around enough for Mostert to get back onto the ground, and to turn around and assist his teammates in driving forward again4. At this point the Boks are too organised and have too much momentum for the scattered French forwards to halt their drive forward. Once the maul has advanced far enough, Mbonambi peels off and scores a relatively simple try. 5. Other than take a relatively standard throw in, Mostert did not do much more than what is expected of an international level lock in a line out leading to a driving maul on the opponents 5m line. In other words, he just did his job, there was nothing exceptional about his part in the try.
PSDT:1. After a standard line out take by Mostert, PSDT finds himself at the front left of the driving maul. 2. His body position does appear to be a little high, but he also has two French players driving against him, they appear to be pushing his torso upwards. 3. That said, his side, the left hand side of the maul, does have more forward momentum than the right side of the maul, so his combination with the Bok forwards behind him, is providing more forward drive than the players on the right hand side of the Bok maul are able to provide. 4. Ultimately the Maul wheels away from PSDT, at which point he detaches, and rejoins at the rear of the maul. From this point onward his contribution is unremarkable because the Bok maul as a whole has clear momentum, and is destined to score. Which is what happened.
So the reality is, Mostert took an easy uncontested line out, however he would still have been under a lot of mental pressure due to the importance of making the take at such a pivotal time in the game. Other than that, his contribution was unremarkable.
PSDT, performed the function of any forward that found themselves  in his position in a maul. He did appear to provide good momentum to his side of the maul, even though his body position was slightly compromised. Other than that, his contribution was unremarkable.

Blue, also notice how the two French beefcakes slamming in to stop the maul drifting forward and to the right influences the shift to the left. First #18 who sort of checks the movement, and then when #17 slams in the real momentum towards the left begins. Otherwise I can't fault what you say, and as I maintain, it was a great team maul. This focus on two individuals while the real engine of progress was chugging somewhere behind them is just silliness.

This is probably the most analyzed maul in recent memory

"This focus on two individuals while the real engine of progress was chugging somewhere behind them is just silliness"
Yes, it's very silly but it's all part of the agenda on this board to denigrate everything Pieter-Steph du Toit ever does on the rugby field.
I reckon Pieter-Steph could run 20m with the entire All Black pack on his back to score a try and the likes of Omlett and Omellete would be saying "oh but he was so slow" or "he was standing with the backs again when he got the ball."
That's the level of bias, prejudice and childishness we've reached on this board . . . and it's all because Moffie backed the wrong horse. Moffie was one of the first to jump on the rampant out-of-control Eben Etzebeth bandwagon and now that Eben's proving to be an overrated and over-hyped donkey, Moffie (and by association his Servile Gimps) are all trying to pretend that our best player this year - PSdT - is also average just so they don't get more egg all over their stupid faces.
The lengths these sad little clowns will go to try and slag off Pieter-Steph (as evidenced by the OP on this very thread) is nothing short of pathetic.

Sure Rooinek. Just don't forget that the whole hoo-ha about this maul and then Bok mauling in general was started by Mike claiming that we can't build a successful maul around Mostert. We're all fuel to somebody's fire in this place.

Ja well, I don't have a lot of sympathy for posters who allow ou Maaik's stubbornness and intransigence to upset them.
I was one of those people myself many years ago. I'm going back to the old Supersport message board that a few of us - myself, ou Maaik, Moffie and Baboon-ou among others - used to post on . . . must be over 15 years ago now. Anyway, back in those days, I was the one who used to be on ou Maaik's case and today's posters might not believe it, but back then it was Moffie who always used to jump to ou Maaik's defence and protect him, saying what a fine upstanding person ou Maaik was and what a mean and horrible person I was for making fun of him all the time.
Over the years I've come to realize that ou Maaik is wired differently to the rest of us and that it is useless to try to use reason or logic against him. Reason and logic have no effect on ou Maaik and the people who are driven crazy by him are the same people who still believe that they're going to change his mind about anything. Now I just sit back and laugh as ou Maaik sends his critics into orbit with his truly remarkable powers of stubbornness.
It took me a while to realize that there is no chink in ou Maaik's impenetrable armour of intransigence and ever since I've accepted that, ou Maaik and I get on just fine. You'll notice I never get involved in any arguments with ou Maaik around Willem Alberts, Juan de Jongh, Frans Steyn, Morne Steyn, Heyneke Meyer or anyone else on ou Maaik's long and ever-growing shit-list . . . not because I agree with him but because I know that debating the issue with him is utterly futile . . . something that a few of you are yet to learn . . . and we have some slow learners like Moffie who still haven't twigged literally decades down the line.
Also, for all his frustrating single-mindedness and obtuse dogmatism, ou Maaik adds a lot of value to this board. He sticks to rugby, he puts in a lot of effort to get team sheets every week and he's prolific. That's a lot more than I can say for ou Maaik's chief adversary Moffie who basically only ever posts on here to continue his childish squabbles with ou Maaik, Saffex or me; who hasn't got the first clue about rugby and contributes nothing positive, preferring to denigrate players and other posters in his sneering and supercilious manner while droning on and on about himself, his ability to integrate numbers, his possessions, his education, his jobs, his house, his cars and pretty much anything that will get his Servile Gimps squealing with delight.
I'll take ou Maaik as a fellow poster long before Moffie. Any time.

Difficult to find a more jealous, envious oak than poor rooitwit.

Ask yourself when last did Moz last talk about, and how often, re all the things listed by the hopelessly envious rooitwit. Poor Rooitwit has been green with envy about Moz for close to two decades. it eats the poor guy up! Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Pakie

Let me get  t straight I did not start the nonsense about the maul in the French test.  it was all started b Mozart and AO to attack me for earlier posts I made about the absence of driving mauls in most tests the Springboks played this year  and indicating what to my min is wrong.

Mozart and AO jumped onto me and started to prove that the maul in the French test was in fact an example why what I wrote was wrong.   I then watched what actually happened and give a detailed description in the case of that maul and it was clear that their account was totally wrong and the counter-attacks by them flowed from there.

Mozart is besotted to  his hatred of Du Toit and he constantly started writing tripe about him as well as other pet hate players on his list.    That is all he brings to the site and I am afraid AO and to a lesser extent you fall for their BS.    My advice to you is watch careful about what Mozart and AO write and do not fall into their shitholes they create for themselves.

You're right Baboon-ou, I am very jealous. I'm very, very jealous and not just jealous of one person, I'm extremely jealous of about 7 billion people . . . I'm very jealous of all the people on this planet who don't know you.

From your preferred source Collins: 'If you say that someone has a chink in their armour, you mean that they have a small weakness in their character or in their ideas which makes it easy to harm them.' No doubt you thought it was 'armor', that's the American usage. Hope that helps and good luck with your chinks. LMAOFY.....how dumb is this plank!

I missed this unbelievably stupid and patronising reply, so to respond now . . .
I know what armour means, you small-minded and pompous little prat, my exclamation of surprise is that you consider your flabby, smelly, wrinkled and weak exterior to be "armour".
If that is armour then I'd hate to see you unarmed, Moffie.
