Time and again we see these players being given a chance to help the Proteas....time and again they fail. Sure Miller looked good hitting sixes at the Wanderers, on a tame pitch in front of a friendly crowd. But one knew today would come.
Sure Faf wasn't great and AB has really lost confidence, but it was the manner of Miller's and particularly Rossouw's dismissals that was so discouraging. They never looked as if they believed in themselves....deer in the headlights.
And so barring a miracle we go home, another failed tournament.
One also has to wonder how we came  up with the strategy in the last over. Bowl long hops to a tall batsmen who only had to free his arms to clear the boundaries. Rabada has a great Yorker and can bowl a tight line....why not use it. He looked totally uncomfortable executing the plan. And it's a hell of a note when a 20 year old kid has to take all the pressure in the last over.
Kudos to de Kock who handled a sticky wicket well, even though he might not have been satisfied at the time. Well done to Wiese, a journeyman who kept his nerve with bat and ball....and also to the irrepressible Imran Tahir, he deserves to be part of a better team.
Once again we learn the lesson. At the very top level talent is often trumped by guts. Which is why players like Quade Cooper don't succeed/

You cannot help to attack sportsmen you do not like.  You go for Miller and Rossouw - while not actually dealing with the failures of Amla, Du Plessis and AB.  You did not even mention Amla who ran himself out by stopping in the middle of the pitch and then running on.
Dead quiet about De Kock this time around - but he is a normal in your attacks - so what went wrong?

I don't dislike Rossouw and Miller. In fact I was positive on Rossouw at the outset....I have just come to realize they are not competitors....talented guys who fade when the pressure is on. I warned about this, but you and Dave knew better. Enjoy the crow.

And not dead quiet on de Kock....not quiet  on AB and Faf....at least read the post before opine. It sometimes helps you to avoid making a fool of yourself. Still you would probably find a way.
As for Amla, Tokkie, if being run out is failure there are many failures out there. But whose call do you think it was?

The world according to Mozart is a weird place.  He attacked two players - it then find excuses for two others who failed (Du Plessis and De Villiers) and keep quiet about the third one (Amla).
The real gutless one in this case was Du Plessis - he caused the loss against England batting at a run a ball when the other batters were all batting at 1,6 runs per ball - but not for Mozart.
As to the Amla run-out - it was De Kock's call and it as the correct call.  However, Amla froze up - stop running and then went on.  No temperament in evidence.
He did not get my statement - he has been going on about De Kock and his reputed inability to bat against spin for the past year and now that he is proven wrong he skipped out of it.
My point is blame all the failed players - don't cherry-pick.

Actually he hesitated for a moment and was run out in spite of a poor high throw. My guess is it would have been a close call if he never hesitated and it was a good throw. It was an unnecessarily sharp call.

There is a section further down for other sports including cricket. This section is for rugby.
The site admins have made some effort to cater for requests for an additional sports section and an off topic section which are slowly but surely being used. Have the good manners and the common courtesy to use the functionality that was provided to you and stop cluttering up the rugby section with this same tedious and repetetive garbage.
Thanks!

I am very concerned that you lose perspective when you deal with issues.   There was a run there and Alma ran himself out by hesitation when he should have run.   Any reasonable person would not try and find excuses like you do.

We South Africans can only dream of still having a Union Jack on our national flag.

I'd go back to the old Union in a heartbeat!

Only in a few games - but that makes no difference here.  Him who hesitates is lost and that is what happened to Amla in this case.  No hesitation and he would have been home by a distance.
So why is this heading about Rossouw ad Nikker when they together with AB, Du Plessis and Amla all failed on the day?  In all honesty should all the failures not be in the heading or better still should be -
*   Batters bar De Kock all failed in the 20Twenty World Championship against West Indies .
That would have been the correct heading - not the standard misleading statements  constantly provided to us in thread headings.

Wrong...against England Amla, de Kock and Duminy made 50s. And against Afgahnistan de Villiers top scored in the sixties and de Kock and Faf made runs.
The point is, when we really need them to come through Miller and Rossouw don't. They were deer in the headlights again on Friday.....they can't deal with pressure.
Bluster all you want...they deliver when things are benign. All the pressure is off against Sri Lanka, and I wouldn't be surprised if they come off....but if we had to win that match to make the finals, they would flop.

Mozart - sorry I did not add the game against the West Indies to the above suggestion and have changed same - since your comments related only to that game in any event.   However if the above games are all analysed my proposed heading is still 100% accurate.
In any event - let look at the tournament as a whole:-
Against England - Failures Du Plessis  17 runs - 17 balls faced,                                    De Villiers   16 runs -   8 balls faced
Against Afghanistan - Failure Amla       5 runs - 11 balls faced
Against Windies  -  Failures Amla         1 run   -  2 balls faced                                     Du Plessis   9 runs -  9 balls faced                                     De Villiers   10 runs - 19 balls faced                                     Rossouw     0 run   -  3 balls faced                                     Miller         1 run   -   5 balls faced
Now lets look at the "deer in the headlights" in this tournament - the phrase you raised about De Kock so frequently in the past:-
Amla - 2 failures in three games playedDu Plessis - 2 failures in three games playedDe Villiers - 2 failures in three games playedRossouw  - 1 failure in 2 games playedMiller       - 1 failure in 3 games played
Your skewed comments - even in the proposed headline if applied to all three matches are clear indication that your eval uation is seriously flawed because of constant prejudice.
The problem is that by the time Miller and Rossouw came in the situation is so desperate because of dismal failure by players higher up in the game that they hit out at balls they should not do so - especially in the T20 format of the game.
Now go home and start thinking before you writer tripe on this site.

So Afghanistan beats the Windies and that again showed up how bad the five failures I dealt with above has really been.  Not the two only you headlined - the others were equally BS in their performances.  When will you ever learn to stop protecting the older players and attack only the younger ones?  I suppose never.

But of your 5 'failures' the only two who never made one meaningful contribution were the chokers Miller and Rossouw. The WI game was perfectly positioned for both or either to finally make a pressure innings.
Rossouw's shot was total panic...it never resembled a cricket shot. And poor Miller was just frozen, a far cry from the fluid bat back on his home turf. They never looked like getting runs.

So what was Amla's panic in the run he should have made easily and his panic in the English game?  Bit of advice once more - stop writing nonsense on the site - think carefully before you come up with easily c ontested stories.

Tokkie as somebody who has admitted you never played much cricket you need a bit of help.....run outs are rarely the fault of only one party. Your campaign against Amla is laughable, he is one of our true professionals....to compare him with Miller and Rossouw is naive at best.

Do you understand the difference between test cricket, ODI's and T20 games?   Apparently not at all.   Amla is under normal circumstances bound to be a flop in T20 games - especially in India.  That is why for years running he has not received a bid when players from all over the world are bid on to play 20/20 games in India.
He is not a T20 player because he cannot get decent starts and his run rate is too low on a more or less consistent basis.
I am not comparing Amla to any player - but is pointing out that the top batsmen - other than De Kock - all flopped in the present WC competition.
I was told that De Kock will be delighted with the fact that he can get back to SA soonest as he is to get married before going off to India to earn his annual R10 million to play for Delhi in the upcoming IPL starting in two weeks time.

I think Beenz did the mature thing to conform with board protocol. ..eventually,  but like Blob says, what goes for the goose...
Having said that, it serves no purpose being too pedantic about these things and self regulation has been quite successful most of the time.

Yeah Wardad I realised your humour but only responded...it's a pity that some lack a sense of the ridiculous...lol

Boroda is probably an Argie troll (Ole Cruz) whose taking his revenge on a Stormer/Trump fanatic who needs to calm down

Dr Win has backed Boroda recommended Valium...lolz.

Ol' Mikie and Moz meanwhile continue their feud about Miller and Rossouw but this could also be a set-up methinks...it is similar to the Matfield, Alberts and Fransie saga and debacle that has gone on for ages.

Sometimes I thinks...Ol Mike and Moz are taking the "Mickie" out of us...just like Walter and Jack in the Grumpy Old Men comedy.

It certainly adds flavour and spice to this forum

I don't side with anybody and yes I try and often fail to see the good side in people.

Well I believe when one starts pointing a finger at someones faults (which I have many) then there's a hundred fingers start pointing back at you...fault finders look for the worst in everything...nitpickers who throw a frothy when their ducks are not in the row...at least as their self-centredness perceives it and are the real hypocrites.

Rooi has his faults but he has his good side but so do we all...don't worry nobody is perfect.

It's the spirit of the law that really counts and not the letter.

Try seeing the positive and good side of people and let them deal with their own problems...understanding is the best thing in the world
