Shockingly right now Steyn may be the most productive flyhalf in SA in terms of general play....while Lambie looks like the best kicker. That would be a weird 360, but with Goosen gone, the cupboard suddenly looks less full.

Lambie is the incumbent and the obvious choice without Goosen....but he is adding zero to the try starved Sharks offence. Michalak looms like the ghost over the Sharks troubles....the man they miss most.

And of the other flyhalves Demetri is solid, but is he being taken seriously. And Burton Francis was pretty poor today, even excluding his poor goal kicking.

So the notion of Lambie at fullback, taking the kicks and Morne at flyhalf for his general play, is possible and delightfully ironic.

Moz, its a little unfair loading on Lambie given what he has to work with outside him. Lets face it, not flyhalf is going to get much change out of Bosman, Jordaan, Ndungane and Viljoen outside him.

Morne has his usual kicking self today, he kicked too much when he had dangerous backs to work with on his outside.

I'd like to see Lambie operate with the Bulls centre pairing who were great today. There is no way we can have Morne at 10 for the Boks.

Lambie has not been poor, but has little to work with.

Morne played well, but no wait......... He was his old kicking self and he kicked to much. Lambie did not have a good game, but it was not his fault. It was his outside backs. When you compare the two, though, you get some interesting issues.

Morne kicked too much. He has kicked 17 times to Lambie's 12. But wait a minute. Morne has kicked less than Lambie. He kicked 17 of the 52 times that he recieved the ball. That is 32.69%. Lambie kicked 12 of the 34 times. That is 35.29%. In addition Morne had one try assist and Lambie zero.

What was the result? The Bulls won their match and they scored 4 tries. Two by Morne's outside backs. The Sharks scored zero tries. and don't come with the Kings is an easy meat team BS, because they are not really, after all. The drew with the competition leaders in their own back yard, and they came close to giving the Sharks a mighty surprise as well.

I know it's not what fans want to hear......but right now Morne is the more positive player......and Lambie the book keeper.

Morne had for years now had a chance to perform on interntional level and he constantly produced exactly the same.   He is a good goal kicker - though last year he failed badly and will that failure not return when under pressure?   He kicked well iat Loftus - but some rucial kicks in the Reds and Brumbies game went astray - so what if it happens again in tests.

Problem is that Morne cannot play attacking backline play - not that he kicks too much - that is the general imprsession - but he constantly stand nearly motionless deep in the pocket and after receipt of tha ball he took some action.  On international level that is just not acceptable and it place the players outside of him at a disadvanatge.

On Super 15 level against weaker teams that can work - on onternational level  it cannot work and effectively   kills backline play.   I would rather have a different style player at flyhalf - not one that has not on international level produce anything - but kicks at goal.

The problem is that firstly the Sharks pack is not dominating enough. Jannie has been pap. Bissie has been out together with alberts and even Deysel. This has had an enormous effect on their ability to deliver good go forward ball. Then we have had Movov and Ludik injured and also recently JP. Frans has been the diappointment of the season. Cumlulative effect means the sharkies are not operating at anyhwere near full effectiveness.

Blaming Lambie is not reasonable.

Our flyhalf stocks are fine with Morne, Lambie and Cat. Next year Goosen is back and hopefully he does alll the conditioning needed.

As for jantjes well he does not seem able to make the right decisions often enough. Take the young crusties flyhalf. he doesnt make mistakes. At flyhalf you need a cool head. Lambie, Morne and Cat have that.
