After being selected for the first time this season to represent Stade Francais in a Top 14 match - Morne Steyn was red-carded in a match against Lyon.

He has now been suspended for 14 days and must appear before an inquiry on 22 January 2015.

Morne must be very careful - there were rumours last year that Stade Francais tried to get out of their contract with him - purely because he was not up to standard - and the Club may use this as an excuse to get rid of him especially if he is to be banned for a further period.

To the best of the my knowledge it is the first time he has ever been suspended.

You did see the reason why he kicked out at the other player?

Probably built up a little frustration because of all the time spent on the bench.

Silly thing to do.

He should maybe think about opening up a coffee shop at the coast and leave rugby to those with talent.

Nope the guy was apparently going for his eyes. Ou maaaikie Morne is not a dirty player. Never has been.Steyn was sent off in the first half of Stade's narrow defeat at Lyon for kicking out at Ratuvou, feeling he had been gouged at a ruck.

He now faces a fortnight on the sidelines, while Ratuvou has also been summoned by the disciplinary authorities for his behaviour in the game.

Steyn's sending off continued a miserable run since his arrival at Stade, with the South African international having disappointed in his time in Paris.
I saw somewhere else he complained strongly about the red being really unfair becaue e of what had happened.

Did I say anywhere that Morne was to blame for the incident.   What happened is basically a newsworthy report.   It merely stated that he is suspended for 14 days with a disciplinary hearing on 22 January 2015.
Fact is that Morne's performances for Stade Francais were sub-par and there was a report that the club was trying to get out of their contract with him - all over the media.
There is nothing hate-filled in that message.   What I asked  you repeatedly is - why is it that Morne Steyn is not rated by his club as their no 1 flyahlf and is constantly on their bench?   You refuse to answer that simple question.

"This is just the last desperate attempt at Michael trying to prove a point, because he is that bitter and hate-filled."

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha!

This must be the ultimate irony! Here we have LeTwat . . . the same sad and lifeless loser who hates Pat Lambie with such a passion that he cannot post on any subject without finding some way of bringing up the subject of how much he loathes and detests Pat Lambie . . . the same manipulative coward who creates a series of characters (Alucard, Dim Sum, Gonzo the Gimp, LeTwat and literally dozens of others) to try and create the illusion that he's not the only person in the world with this obsessive hatred for a rugby player . . . and he's calling ou Maaik "bitter and hate filled"?

LMAO!

I don't think even Moffie at the height of his "I'm taller than Dave" campaign showed quite as much bitterness and hatred as LeTwat and his legions of alter egos have shown towards Pat Lambie.

" Look at his stats - he was no good and they were playing a  low ranked team to boot. One penaltiy and one drop goal against a try - what a massive lead that entails!!!!!!.   Yes it was a red card - the bugger kicked a Lyon's player and got red-carded.  Other than I said it was a yellow card - thew truth was glaringly clear in what I wrote above..
Morne started for the first time this year in Top 14 and it will be the last time - I am sure.  He is a bloody useless flyhalf - and that is a fact."

No Jantjies is by far the worst. And Lambie is up there....he did enough to lose the Welsh test. In fact he has probably nobbled  our RWC chances.......he catches that pass into his breadbasket, Wales don't get a penalty from the scrum and Jean doesn't get injured on the kickoff. Without Jean we have no adult centre. Playing Lambie was a disastrous decision by HM

There is no evidence that Lambie cost us the Welsh test - but there are ample evidence that Morne  Steyn cost us a string of tests.   Playing Morne Steyn ever  was  disastrous decisions by HM.
Look what I wrote about Morne Steyn is factual.   Stade Francais thought to rest their first choice flyhalf for a match against a weak opposition team.   Whether you like it or not - Morne Steyn buggered up that opportunity - FACT.    Will they take another chance - bearing in mind his performances thus far for them?   Not at all likely.
It is not "hate-filled words by a loser".   It is factual words of somebody  who has to correct your stupidity all the time.

Lambie cost us the Welsh test....dead ball kicks, kickoffs into touch, dropped ball, hospital passes leading to turnovers, pathetic tactical kicks giving up possession . The evidence is all there to see.....and no I am not going to list the mistakes because you will simply ignore the truth.

Lets look at the stats of two tests SA lost this year - the Welsh test and the Australian test in Perth insofar as flyhalf play is concerned:-
Lambie0/069/6/52413022/00/000/0

Steyn0/0188/9/0000018/70/010/0
There is no evidence - bar the prejudiced BS made up in your own mind - that Lambie cost us the test against Wales.   There is plenty of evidence that Morne cost us the  test against the Aussies.   His defense was standard - piss poor - and his passing game consisted of  hospital passes.    And his habit of missing to find touch with penalty kicks cost us badly in the Perth test.
Why must I kick your silly ass over this Board all the time?   Why do you refuse to answer a simple question I posted repeatedly on this site - Why is it that Morne Steyn - so loaded by you and other morons - is not used by his club as frontline flyhalf and in the main only brought on from the bench when his presence could not influence the outcome of m atches?
The problem with the tests we lost this year can basically be attributed to the fact that our Tight 4 was not standing up to the opposition and especially with a weak blindside flank we were really poor up front.   If we could only have had a Tight 5 it would have been easier.

The only person who lost us the Welsh test was useless Meyer and his selections. Much like the season as a whole.
Lambie is twice the talent Morne is, it's not even close.
Same can be said of Jantjies vs Morne.
They don't come more ordinary than Morne. Without his boot he would not have smelt a single CC cap.

Lambie has won no international competition for any team. And nor will he in my estimation, he is not mentally tough enough. Morne has won a TN and a S15, and no team wins those tournaments with a disfunctional flyhalf.

At the end of this year we'll all know who's talking sense here, at least I hope so...that's if the coach gets a whole balanced and co-ordinated team that functions well together. The issue of MS versus PL is getting a bit tedious...MS is definitely not the solution for progression...he is the past...Lambie, Pollard and Boshoff are the future.

Pat Lambie,is highly talented...has had a rather unsettling start in his career with coaches that chop and change selections and his unfortunate injury last year at the beginning of Superseries, just when he was hitting top form.

This year I believe he will settle down and perform if the coach is firm and single minded and gives him the reigns to play to his full potential.

I've got great faith in Lambies ability and yes, I think he has to come up with the goods...Mozart, you're definitely wrong on this one...I don't understand why people judge PL incorrectly...they don't even know him...not mentally tough??? Obviously that's total nonsense...in fact the opposite is true...he is a far stronger character than most players. Always has been, even from school...he was head boy at Michaelhouse, Captain of the 1st XV for 2 years and the 1st X1...true toughness and leadership skills...he might have an angels face (just good Scots breeding) but never be deceived by looks...he's strong and tough believe me...people who know him well will laugh at this.

Sorry Chabal, being head boy cuts no mustard when you are facing a motivated international team. You have to have specific skills, athletic ability and a natural model for the position. I see none of that in Lambie. His latest stint started brightly against OZ, was saved by late kicks against NZ and the Poms......and declined dramatically against Italy and Wales. Far from benefitting from more time at 10, he steadily declined. As he did in the 2013 S15 when he had all the time in the world to settle at 10 and ended up being replaced by Butch James.

And you are a liar to boot.  James did not replace Lambie in the two games in July 2013 - Lambie was out with injury in the two games.   In one game  James played at flyhalf and in the other Viljoen.

 Slimeball
Lets explain this one to you - Facts are as follows:-
*   Since the injury to Francois  Steyn - the Sharks played Butch James in some games at 12.  Statistically he was useless in all games he played at 12.
*    In one game on 6 July 2013 they switched the two players around and here are the stats for that game:-
 James0/108/21/31000008/20/011/0
Lambie1/0144/6/1011311008/20/000/0
*   As is evidenced from the stats - James had an average game and Lambie an outstanding one.
*   During that game Lambie was injured and he did not play the next week - neither did James -  Viljoen played at flyhalf.
You remain an outright liar about this issue and to even suggest that Lambie was the reason for the switch is absolute BS.   But nothing better can be expeted from the board moron.
Either the article quoted by you is wroo g or ESPNscrum is wrong.   I think you have been caught out again.   It was Lambie who scored the 14 points - not Butch James.   Idiot

In a nutshell........the choice of Morne over Lambie sums up posters take on rugby generally.......if you favour Morne over Lambie, you are almost certainly going to be in favour of the retention of players like Matfield, Steenkamp, Bakkies, Pienaar, Jean and co........its conservative versus progressive.

Some supporters are like HM, conservative in their rugby outlook......others tend to live on the edge, where experience for experience sake counts for little and where solid is just not good enough.

Yip Saffex...MS versus PL is retrogression versus progression.

Moz I don't agree, in fact your words were mentally tough...remember when Lambie took that long and difficult penalty...Eng game after hashing a dead sitter earlier in the game...he insisted he could do it...remember Jean De Villiers consulting this decision to go for posts instead of touch...Lambie showed a strong cool head.

I think he ha s a much, much more tougher head and constitution than Morne ever had...just read his body language under pressure...Morne was alright in the past in a winning game...but look at the facial expressions when under pressure and falling apart...certainly no where as tough in the mind as Patrick.

I think we must wait and see and I'm sure you will gracious and a gentleman if this year proves you wrong.

One thing that cannot be questioned is Lambie's mental toughness. He has always shown an old head on young shoulders. At that to his natural talent.

A quality player who proved his credentials ages ago. Hell imagine how good he would have been by now if he had been afforded as much test time as useless Morne has.

The poor lad, like Goosen and Pollard are always on trial as our useless coaches have always invested in a plodder in Morne, instead of showing the same faith in a real rugby player.

Chabal, your belief in Lambie is your right. The problem is that there is no reason for me to believe in him. This year will be his sixth season at senior level, and he has shown less clout than Pollard has in a couple of tests. Lambie's performances have been exposed. He was atrocious on tour. His Welsh test was far worse than Morné's Perth test, far worse. Yet you tell me it's okay to excuse him from responsibility because he has potential. If I didn't know better I would think Lambie was related to Khomphela such is the bias. You're right, it's another year, and another opportunity to turn things around. If he can do that, then there can be no arguments about a call-up, but he has a hell of a lot to prove.

Saffex, Goosen was a disaster. He cost us two tests and even when Meyer gives him a shot at fullback he looked out of his depth. Yes, poor Goosen. Poor Lambie. Morné made his debute at fullback of all places and saved the 1st Lions test with a try saving tackle over the line. good players find a way to make contributions. Frans played on the wing in his first test, at fullback in another, at centre in another and excelled. In 2010 he was thrown at 13 and excelled again. Jaco is not a 10 but delivered the goods. Even Brent Russell showed more at 10. There are no more excuses.
If after five years a player hasn't delivered - being outplayed by a has-been Butch and Michallak and out of position Frans - then it's time to question his ability. If he is talented, then he must have extraordinarily poor temperament to drag his performances to such a hideous low.

Lestat you are lying again......Goosen was brilliant against Oz at 10, sadly got injured and should not have played the following test against NZ. But such was his impact against Oz that Meyer could not resist playing him injured against NZ.

Goosen and Lambie have more rugby talent in their baby toes than useless Morne has in his whole being.

The guy has no rugby talent at all. Has no attacking skills, knows nothing about making a break or beating a defender and is a complete liability defensively.

All he has is a boot on him......take his boot away from him and he would not have played a single CC game. He is not even average, he is bloody useless

If they have more talent then where's the evidence? Nothing you say is true. you even rated De Allende as good as kuridrani! That after being hopeless against Argentina. Or did Meyer make him bad? Is that your excuse now? Everytime your picks don't deliver it was Meyer that did it *rolls eyes*.
Here's a little something to remind us all of Goosen; do recall that the Aussie test was lost mainly because of Aussies dropping like flies.

Scrum.com - "The under-fire Wallabies had little answer to their hosts' physicality and it also took an alarming toll with Adam Ashley-Cooper, Berrick Barnes, Radike Samo, Digby Ioane and Tatafu Polota-Nau adding to an already epic injury list. And it could have been worse with the Boks denied two tries by the Television Match Official and fly-half Johan Goosen and scrum-half Ruan Pienaar far from perfect from the kicking tee."

Saffex, Morné has beaten defenders, he has made breaks. Morné is our best defensive 10, that much was proven already, in detail. H e has the best pass of all our 10s right now, ONLY Pollard is competition for him.

I am not fan of Morne Steyn, but he is not as bad as some people make out.
When he is behind a winning pack he can be effective, as he varies the depth of his position when receiving the ball to stand more flat. He has a decent long pass.
When his pack is losing or being equaled, this is when Morne is useless.
He stands in the car park. Many South African flyhalfs are like this though.
Jantjies is not even a rugby player. He has a few back flick passes with some decent skills, but comparing him to Quade Cooper and Carlos Spencer is a joke.He looks like he is a slow runner with no step. I have never seen accurate long passes from him. His option taking is pathetic. He done one good Chip for the Stormers, and then each match afterwards he done the same play over and over, but is was so telegraphed the opposition easily killed the move.
We should be starting Pollard, and have a scrumhalf with a kicking game until Pollard is a better kicker.FDP and Pienaard need to combine with Pollard this year. Goosen has the best allround game at the moment except that he is too frail.
1. Pollard2. Goosen3. Lambie or Morne

The rest in South Africa are not test level players

Here's the problem with the Morne bashing and Lambie promoting. Lambie has won nothing internationally.....Morne has won a TN and a S15.

This is not about how good a player is in isolation. It's not a pick up game of two players in the park....it's about the effect you have on the team. It's about how your game defines team strategy and how you execute.

Lambie was obviously told up North to attack the game line. But he can't. He is too small, too slow and has no guile. So he was smashed every time....so much so he got into the habit of last second passing. Which meant the next player was smashed. And after Pomerania everybody was waiting for the short chip. By the end of Wales he had no idea what to do and was dropping the ball.

Morne has no pr etentions of running. He is a link and very effective  one.....partially because opponents are protecting the U & U .....but his passing is crisp and accurate. The tries we scored against NZ in 2013 were generated by superb Morne passes. And the team is confident with him at 10....they know what to expect. You don't have the chaos we saw against Wales. The strategy is clear and well executed.

So where does that leave us. Well with the best 10 in the world for executing a tight game plan....and in Pollard the best 10 we have had since 1990 for executing a game line based running game. I would start my campaign with Pollard and have Morne available to execute Plan B when indicated. Lambie is a sub for Willie at 15.

Lets get this straight - the argument started with the following sentence by you:-
"As he did in the 2013 S15 when he had all the time in the world to settle at 10 and ended up being replaced by Butch James."
First of all that was a total misrepresentation of what actually happened and really a false statement per se.   If for a change you write the truth - you would have placed the whole issue clearly.   The real situation is that after Francois Steyn was injured -  Bosman played at inside center.   Bosman got injured as well and Butch James played at 12 in some games towards the end f the season.  However, James was no good - so for one game on 6 July 2013 the team management decided to switch them around.
Butch James played one game at flyhalf  - did not make much headway and when Lambie was injured in the 6 July 2013 match -  the flyhalf position was taken over in the final game of the series by Viljoen - James never played for the Sharks subsequently.
What you said was a totally misleading and not factual at all - sio much so that it actually boiled down to a lie.  When the situation was pointed out to you - you came back with a report about the match from foxsport.    When checking the report against the ESPN stats, it was found that the report was wrong and that the `14 points attributed to James - were actuually scored by Lambie.
When you wrote "Now slime off you stupid old coot" it is not offensive?    When I responded in kind - now I am offensive.
Incidentally - what you fail to mention in lauding of James was that e got carded in that game - but that is obviously not of any importance.
Now for the following sentence:-
"Here's the problem with the Morne bashing and Lambie promoting"
The thread started off with a factual report on Morne Steyn being suspended and having to appear at a disciplinary hearing on 22 January 2015.  The response by Letsal and you centered not around the factual statements made - but centered around a personal attack on me being hate-filled.   When the spuriousness of that personal attack did not work out - you tried a diversion with the following remark:-
"No Jantjies is by far the worst. And Lambie is up there....he did enough to lose the Welsh test"
THERE WAS NO STEYN BASHING AT ALL - WHAT WAS WRITTEN WAS FACTUAL.   However to divert attention away from Steyn - you started an all-out attack on Lambie.
If any BASHING was done - it was started off by you - nobody else.   You went to ridiculous lengths to bash Lambie and that is a fa ct as well.
Get some reality into your postings - and there would be no problems and matters can be discussed on a reasonable basis.

This is what happened as reported
"  Lambie, switched back to centre to accommodate 2007 Rugby World Cup medal winner James as playmaker, contributed 14 points from a try and three penalty goals."

Lambie was switched so James could be the playmaker. Does that sound like Lambie was doing well as the playmaker?
You are literally a waste of my time OOm with your pathetic dishonesty.....I'm going to have to put your posts on a ration basis. Dishonesty in an old man is a lousy characteristic.

Look - you accused me of hating Steyn while the thread was based on facts and what was written was factual.   There was no bashing at all in what was written.    The bashing in fact started when you attacked Lambie and went all out in that.
I have never seen so much drivel - based on prejudice against or even hatred of Lambie - written on any player by any member of this site.    If what you wrote on Lambie is factual - then he would never be in the Springbok squad.   You  attacks on Lambie has no factual basis - it is based on your prejudice and hatred of the player.    Lets quote some of your statements:-
" You have to have specific skills, athletic ability and a natural model for the position. I see none of that in Lambie. His latest stint started brightly against OZ, was saved by late kicks against NZ and the Poms......and declined dramatically against Italy and Wales. Far from benefitting from more time at 10, he steadily declined. As he did in the 2013 S15 when he had all the time in the world to settle at 10 and ended up being replaced by Butch James."
"Lambie was obviously told up North to attack the game line. But he can't. He is too small, too slow and has no guile. So he was smashed every time....so much so he got into the habit of last second passing. Which meant the next player was smashed. And after Pomerania everybody was waiting for the short chip. By the end of Wales he had no idea what to do and was dropping the ball."
"Morne has no pretentions of running. The strategy is clear and well executed.'
THERE IS NO FACTUAL BASIS FOR TH ATTACK ON LAMBIE - HE MADE ONE MISTAKE IN THE WALES TEST AND THAT IS A FACT - BUT THERE WAS NO CHAOS IN THE BACKLINE THROUGHOUT TH E GAME - AS IMPLIED BY YOU.   THERE IS NO FACTUAL EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER THAT LAMBIE CAUSED THE LOSS OF THAT TEST,  BAR YOUR PERSONAL ATTACKS  ON HIM.
tHE SAME RHETORICAL DISHONESTY  IS USED TO DEFEND MORNE.    TAKE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS:-
"Morne has no pretentions of running. He is a link and very effective  one.....partially because opponents are protecting the U & U .....but his passing is crisp and accurate."
You are at least honest enough to admit that Steyn has no pretentions of running.   The comments by the NZ commentators on Steyn was that the defense was easy when he was the flyhalf -  all defenders ignore him and goes for the potential recipients.   it was the recipients - who were smashed - to use your own words in the attack on Lambie.
"And the team is confident with him at 10....they know what to expect. "  Have you discussed this statement with any of the payers in the team - the way you put it is as if it is factual.   Was the players confident when Morne made a mistake he often enough is guilty of by not finding touch with a crucial penalty kick in the Perth test?
The final word is still - why if Morne was so good - does the Management of the Stade Francais club has so little confidence in him?.
All in all - it is fine for you to bash  players you dislike - but if any players you like is criticized on this site  - you iether divert the issue to somebody else or get personal in your attacks.   In the latter regard you are offensive and really stretching the truth to extreme limits   and do not regard misrepresentation of situations as wrong.
