over the years we've had our laughs, our debates and disagreements but looking back I will always remember the day when two posters unbeknown to each other from totally different backgrounds and with glaring different views to each other met alongside of their wives to have a really great time. It was a highlight of our trip, as you know there were several, meeting Jake White and fellow poster MO was another.
In contrast, the bored, bitter and sad loser is too afraid to show his face to anyone and that's after numerous invitations from a variety of posters over several different forums.

Couldn't agree more Denny. There have been some epic battles on these Boards over the years. But the guys one would still like to break bread with are the posters who can have a laugh at themselves. Two posters flunk that test royally......Urinal who can only laugh at the discomfort of others and Basque who has a Vulcan sense of humour ie none at all.

 I don't have a "weak-arsed" excuse, I haven't participated in the past simply because I have no interest but that said who knows I might be interested if I stuck my toes in the water. My biggest regret would be to join in and then  missing out in making weekly submissions when I'm travelling abroad which is bound to happen smack bang in the middle of the season later this year.TBH I read Mike's good intentioned plea, I thought about it but decided it's best to decline. Hope that explains...not quite sure what's to be "chicken" about, certainly wouldn't bother me if I didn't do well.

Sure that sounds terrific. Go to Venice and spend your time watching Super Rugby on the internet, so you can make your choices. When in Rome, check up on all the great performances, in Super rugby that is......and in Florence forget about David and make another list of bargain buys. Urinal is still playing....hahaha.

Moffie, I somehow doubt I'll be so bug-eyed with excitement that I can't spare 5 minutes while I'm at a table in Sultahnmet eating Michelin quality street food with a nice local red . . . or at the Mercato San Lorenzo where we've just bought a picnic to eat at the Giardino delle Rose and I'm waiting for she-who-must-be-obeyed to browse the flea market stuff.
I'll find time on any Thursday evening to check this forum for teams, make a few transfers and change my double-points-scoring captain if req uired. That's all it takes. 
That's what you guys don't get. You see it as this mission where you have to watch the games. Just buy and sell against Fantasy currency. Who cares if they score it perfectly or not or weigh a carry more than a tackle or something like that. You still have to recognise Fantasy value if you want to score well.

Firstly I'm with a tour group, do you know what that means, I'm sure you don't, so here let me help you. The tour has a set itinerary to which I'm bound, secondly, unlike you,the MB is a small part of my life and I really couldn't be bothered with a dumbass fantasy ride when I'm dining in a restaurant in Barcelona.

Wouldn't dream of doing any travel with a tour group. If you can't look after yourself using AirBnB, Uber and public transport then you probably shouldn't be travelling.
You go where your tour droup schedule tells you to go. Me . . . I've customised the perfect three weeks to suit my very specific needs. That's the difference between our holidays.

Not surprised really, all those queues every day. Every time you get off the bus there's another half an hour queue . . . at some destination you're not particularly interested in but was part of the package you purchased so you could sit in some horrible family restaurant in Barcelona and pay tourist prices for tourist quality food.

 Well, I'll consider any travel abroad a luxury, but would prefer doing my own thing, but tour groups cram in a lot of content in a short time...stretching the buck. Enjoy Denny...I envy your ability to travel abroad...it's a good kinda envy though, I don't resent you for it...like I said, have fun and keep us updated.

About doing your own thing versus a travel group. Firstly we have the best of both worlds but I'll leave that for further down.
Benefits of a Travel group are numerous..Accommodation is included(mostly 4/4.5 hotels)Breakfast everydayDinners includedA tour director on the busA travel guide at designated stops, very handy having someone enlighten you on paintings and sculptures at a museum as it is also when visiting say St Peter's Cathedral or the ruins of Pompei and The Louvre. And yes you can do these things on your own and it's cheaper but you'll be the poorer for the experience.No waiting in queues at places of interest( you'll know what I mean when you see them at The Palace of Versailles or St Peter's Basilica)Optional extras which includes additional visits to places of interest not on the tour
I say we have the best of both worlds because we also have Timeshare which means that when the tour finishes we would have picked our own places of interest to fill in the gaps left off in the tour. So like in Barcelona we would stay an extra week for example and visit sites not on the tour, hire a car and drive before moving onto Portugal, again using Timeshare accommodation when we get there. So instead of just doing a tour with a travel group the extended trip becomes a 6 weeks ex ersise...good value if one thinks that Spain for example is an 18 hour flight from Oz. 
Another benefit of a travel group and it's been our experience, met some wonderful people who came out to meet us in 'Frisco to shout us dinner. The couple stay in a town called Stockton in CA, drove down the 90 miles and drove back on the night. Friends for life, a group of 6 we're planning on doing Greece together in 2019. I've sent them photo's of Cape Town, they loved it so who knows where that might end up.
