I see you guys are suffering a blizzard, I can tell you that we're suffering an awful amount of wet weather, as a matter of fact they've predicted torrential rain for the rest of the week. Our best weather is in March when the heat and humidity is gone so it's most unusual to be experiencing a big wet.
The times they are a changing.

Actually. It's been a reasonable winter. Cold December, normal January, very warm February....I played about 5 rounds of golf, quite cold March pulling back about half of the Feb warmth. In all the winter should be about half a degree above the long term averages. Which is consistent with a 1.2 degree increase in temps since the Industrial Revolution. So the times may be a changing, but slowly in the Great Plains. But a wet March has to be a bust....September is our best month and it's usually very consistent, with the added bonus of a natural colour show.

The Sydney summer was sensational although some might disagree having to suffer 45 and 47 degree highs over three days. I guess it's not funny when you're living in dry country or out in the outer suburbs. I think we've been lucky this summer in not having any major fires which was tempered  by intermittent rain.
Predictions are that 47c is going to be the norm as temps rise across the world's hottest continent.

CHICAGO: THE IMPRESSIVE COLD THIS PAST WINTER CONTINUED DURING MARCH...WITH A MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF ONLY 31.7 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH. THIS RANKS AS THE 19TH COLDEST MARCH ON RECORD IN CHICAGO. HOWEVER...OF EVEN MORE INTEREST IS THE FACT THAT WITH THE ABNORMALLY COLD MARCH ACROSS THE AREA...THIS MADE THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE DECEMBER THROUGH MARCH PERIOD IN CHICAGO 22.0 DEGREES...WHICH IS THE COLDEST SUCH PERIOD ON RECORD FOR CHICAGO DATING BACK TO 1872! HERE IS A LIST OF THIS YEARS DECEMBER THROUGH MARCH AVERAGE TEMPERATURE RELATED TO THE OTHER COLDEST SUCH PERIODS ON RECORD IN CHICAGO: RANK AVERAGE YEAR DEC-MAR TEMP . -------------------------------------------------- 1. 22.0 2013-14 . 2. 22.3 1903-04 . 3. 22.5 1977-78 . 4 22.5 1892-93 . 5. 22.7 1978-79
