Mozart and Mike: Elena who is still in Moscow because of mothers ill health says this

Hi darling,
yes this teo people are the world famous stars and the most required worldwide. Dmitri mostly lives in Europe, it's where the most of his work, probably. We all followed his story with great simpathy.
Anna is also the star, she is a.beautiful women too and even filmed herself - i.e. star Anna Netrebko - in some Hollywood film about European princess.
She is Russian born from Donbass region, which is now Ukraine and according to new their government, who was bombing people there, she is also "subhuman", as all Donbass Russians.
She was sending humanitarian help to her colleagues in Donetsk Opera and Ballet theater.

You said your wife's mother has cancer - how is she doing?  One can only say I hope and pray for the best and that the cancer will go into remission.  
I am still looking forward to your visit to Riversdale in April.         

 Interesting comments on the Donbass Russians, you won't read that in the Economist. All the best to Elena and her mom.

My wife has "incurable" cancer & has had this for three years now. It is a tough disease to deal with. We also have this international dimension in  that we live in Poland and travel to the US for scans and treatment. 
Our Russian daughter in law made us realize the Russians (at least the ones in her family) see family as being even more critical than we do. It is the same in Poland. Someone explained to me that because of political oppression and suspicion, plus hard economic times the family unit became critical for people to survive.
I am not surprised about the Don bas Russians. People are quickly categorized as different and even inferior. History shows us this and also shows it can have very dire consequences.

 That sounds very tough JW, your good spirits and  sense of humour  in the light of those challenges, does you great credit.

PS thanks CleverMike. I don't want this to turn into a sob story. I felt I had to say something as Seb & his wife are going through it. The best support any of us can have is the fun & games on this site.

Thank you Mike,Dr Win and Moz for your thoughts...my mother in law,Lyudmila had cancer but this was nipped in the bud...however she developed extreme hypertension and bad heart condition.

Then if this not enough she slipped on black ice and fractured her hip bone...and can't undergo hip surgery/replacement 'cause her heart wouldn't allow it...she is a cripple and hobbles around with a walker...she is going down fast but Russians are resilient.

A heart breaking ordeal...she cannot look after herself...Dmitri her husband hardly helps and disappears at week-ends to Dacha...in the warmer months...not now.

It's very hard...since the fall of the USSR there are very scant facilities for folk like this.

She cannot and won't board an aircraft...

We are taking huge strain but Elena is a very good and strong character...I really marvel about her.

Mike I'm not too certain if we will go to Kleinmond/Herma nus in April but I hope it's possible...if not maybe later.

 Seb, your poor mother in law is really having a tough time of it. She is lucky to have such a caring daughter and son in law. Her husband sounds like a real jerk. 
I hope she can at least be made comfortable & I am sure having your wife there with her gives her some happiness.  Amazingly I have seen people happy in the most dire times, sometimes it simply defies logic. I hope it is the case for your mother in law.
