After the match Mozart found a report on the injury to Du Toit and rushed to put it non this site - gloating about the injury. There was no scan undertaken - no specialist report and the newspaper report was based on no scientific evidence.
I repeatedly pointed out that the medical evaluation was missing and that before rejoicing done - as was the case with Mozart - we must wait for the medical evidence.
So what happened next? Du Toit went to see the Specialist in Cape Town on Monday and the following report was on Sharksworld afterwards:-
"Pieter-Steph du Toit will see a second specialist in Cape Town today after yesterday’s initial appointment didn’t go quite as badly as expected.
We’re a long way from being able to make any sort of announcement here – and the player still needs your good wishes and prayers as much as ever – but there must now be at least a little doubt that doom and gloom prognosis from yesterday is accurate.
We did say yesterday morning that we were reacting to media reports regarding the injury and that the Sharks had yet to confirm anything. Yesterday’s injury report from the union fell a long way short of what all of us feared and in this case, we need to fervently hold on to the hope that no news is, indeed, good news.
Keep those messages of support coming and continue to pray – harder than ever. Maybe, just maybe, things aren’t as bad as at first thought."
So on Tuesday Pieter-Steph du Toit saw another Specialist and wrote as follows on his Twitter account:-
" The Sharks and Springboks have been given a massive boost as Pieter-Steph du Toit has undergone an operation and could be back for the end of the Super Rugby season.
The Sharks second rower injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the 36th minute of the Sharks 10-27 victory over the Cheetahs on Saturday.
Early expectations were that Du Toit would miss the rest of the season which meant an end to his Super Rugby season and no Rugby World Cup for the Sharks lock.
However Du Toit has revealed on his Twitter account that he has undergone surgery and that the doctor says provided his rehab goes well he could be back in three months.
"A MIRACLE just happened. Just got home after surgery, everything went well, "said Du Toit in his Twitter feed.
"Doc said I will be able to play in 3 months, if rehabs goes well."
While Du Toit has a chance of playing in the business end of the Super Rugby it would seem that if all goes well he could make the world cup with the Springboks.This must have been a very miinor surgical procedure - for him to have had today and being at home already.
In the meantime Mozart must be devastated by the news, After all the injury to Du Toit's knee was caused by his "thin shoulders" and "thin wrists" - according to him.
