Chew on a bit of reality, the Daily Mail WC player ratings:
Bismarck du Plessis 6
Missed talisman Victor Matfield in the first-half as line-out struggled to fire, only hitting 75 per cent of his throws.
Frans Malherbe 8
Justified his continued selection over Jannie du Plessis with a scrum penalty, adding his weight to the effective driving maul.
Eben Etzebeth 8
Topped the tackle count for the majority of the game and played a prominent role in the choke tackle strategy.
Lood de Jager 6
Brushed off by Jerome Kaino for New Zealand’s sixth minute try – not what you expect from an 18st13lb lock.
Francois Louw 8
Kept his side ahead during the first half with magnificent breakdown work and did his fair share of work in defence'
........
'Missed talisman Victor Matfield'....'Brushed off by Jerome Kaino'....hahaha.

Moola I can't remember most guy's names 10 seconds after shaking their hands.....but I can reproduce Don Clark, Jardine, Grey, Lineen, Tremain, Horsely, Jones from memory. Oddly I'm struggling to remember the captain and prop who battled a bit against Stephanie's grandfather.

Okay Liar Mike....Matfield was a disaster against Japan:
V MatfieldL 0 10 0 0
Ten tackles made/ none missed/no turnovers.
V MatfieldL 0 6 8 17 1 0 2 0
Eight runs/6 passes/2 offloads/ one clean break......and of course no turnovers.
......
A classical Matfield performance, intelligent distribution, clinical defence.....complete ball security and under his leadership, 15 out of 15 lineouts secured.

Back to Victor. Just look at your logic Tokkie......you say Matfield was a 'critical part of the Japanese disaster'.
So I provide the following stats:
V MatfieldL 0 10 0 0
Ten tackles made/ none missed/no turnovers.
V MatfieldL 0 6 8 17 1 0 2 0
Eight runs/6 passes/2 offloads/ one clean break......and of course no turnovers.
And you then say "selective stats wont help'. They are selective stats, they were selected to address the point you made! Perhaps these stats against Japan would please you more:
P ToitFL 1 4 0 0
ToitFL 0 0 7 10 0 2 0 0
Du Toit a total of 4 tackles.....he makes 10 metres, in the course of which he loses the ball once. And never passes or offloads, the ball dieswith him.
I think we have finally discovered who among our forwards caused the Japanese calamity ......Stephanie! Thanks for continuing to harp on this subject Mike.....we have our truth.

Du Toit......the real Japanese flop, along with Kriel and little Pat Lambie.
