No offense Cloudy, but the fact that you deem it to be perfectly fine that McCaw was treated differently than any other international player because he was not rude or disrespectful to the ref is downright arrogant and disrespectful to all the other captains and players in the game.
So Richie was the only player who treated the refs with respect?

Last time I checked, all the players were held accountable by their individual actions and the same set of rules on the field of play........ not by how well they get on with the refs.
Having said that, you are also basically saying that all other international players never had the refs respect, given that they were not permitted to get away with the same offenses that McCaw did, which is absolute bollocks

Even you are clearly admitting here that he was favoured and treated differently than other captains or players, which should never be the case if everyone is held accountable by the same set of rules

 
McCaw was a brilliant rugby player. No-one will deny that.

There was absolutely no reason for him to cheat ... yet he did ... and he was allowe d to get away with it.

There's no denying that either.

 Him being treated differently by refs is one issue.
The idea of him playing to the edge of the law being an idea that was perpetuated to disguise the fact that a lot of what he did was totally spohirting is another issue. And why Kiwis are so unwilling to admit it is yet another and probably larger issue. 
Do please give us your views on the video I posted where his intentional high shot results in a neck injury to another player. Then give us your views in light of recent discussions on Vinipola.
I'm not bashing kiwis. It's just interesting to me is all.

it was a well known fact that Richie had a lot of respect for the refs and perhaps that's why they were lenient on him I don't know

The entire rugby world saw McCaw cheat regularly ... and even though they voiced their annoyance, he continued unabated ... for years.

Who's to blame? The damn ref. McCaw is innocent. He's just the teachers pet. It's not his fault.

It's no longer how you win the match. Any win is good enough, no matter how underhanded. We all saw Kieran Read pleading with the ref to give Bismarck a yellow card. He practically blew him.

It stuns me to see these arrogant Kiwis defending All Black transgressions ... all the while b!tching about the misdeed that come their way ... from time to time.

None of these rugby noobs have explained how one cheats on the rugby field and when you ask them it just turns into another tearful whine about how the naughty refs are ugly to their players.

Richie McCaw has never once cheated on a rugby field. Not once. He may have been penalized many times and yes, he may have infringed and got away with it before . . . but he's never cheated and I challenge any of the rugby noobs like Klown, Dumb Ass and Ceradunce to provide some proof of Richie McCaw taking performance-enhancing drugs or dodging doping tests . . . because that is cheating.

Being offside or playing the ball on the ground or entering a ruck from the side is not "cheating" and anyone who thinks it is is as as much a rugby noob as Klown, Dumb Ass and Ceradunce are proving to be on this thread.

Again, many players do it, including SA players. Human nature I suppose.
But my question remains. Why are the Kiwis so unwilling to admit that they also have players who partake in unsporting/cheating behaviour?
Still no answer on the Vunipola/McCaw comparison by the way. Just saying.
