Lets start the guessing game.
Will be great to see how far wrong we are.
Allistar Coetzee (not my first, second or even third choice, but he is the right color and he has Bok experience)

As a matter of interest Dakota who are your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices
I'd like Mallet, Ackers perhaps or maybe even a kiwi or an aussie.

He should have been the current coach, like Meyer shoud have been the coach when Peter was appointed. Appointing him now would be repeating stale history. The new coach should be a current coach with recent success of note. There arn't any available in SA ATM. We should rather look at starting at the top of SARU and work our way down.

None of those guys are going to be the coach....already sycophants like Keo are saying the current team doesn't meet transformation goals. It will be a person of colour. This is probably the last roll of the dice for Bok rugby before it becomes a political football. Failure at this WC gives the perfect excuse to "engage all groups"....bye bye merit, bye bye Springboks.

Spot-on, this is the last role of the dice as indicated by the ANCYL.....should also say it's not becoming a political football.....it is one! And I say political football because no-one body whether it be SARU or the Gov has done anything to culture the sport in the black community, instead they take cheap shots at the mix of the team....when it loses, like now.

There needs to be a search for a new Coach immediately now for next year, with the right decision that is best for Springbok Rugby.
Johan Ackermaan is a brilliant coach like no other SA one. His team dynamics are simple and expansive. The problem with other SA coaches like Coetzee is they don't make use of the talent that is available to them, they tend to stick to a kicking 10 man game plan which you can no longer rely on anymore in the modern game. We saw this in the Stormers playoff match this year which was disastrous. Though I do believe Coetzee will be first in line for the job, wouldn't be surprised if he get's it because of his experience at Super Rugby level.

Surely the politicians know they have to have a world class coach for the Boks.
Anyway, the Boks are not done with this RWC. They never should have lost to Japan but it is one loss. France lost in the pool games in 2011 and almost pulled off an upset in the final (ABs won of course). Let's see how the Boks play against Samoa, it will be a tough game but it should show if the Boks have anything to offer.

JW....There is another problem for the Boks and that is if their frontline players get injured their reserves are piss poor. It would be foolish not to expect a brutal and bone jarring clash against Samoa.
22 Sept 2015, 09:09#18
If we had not lost to Japan we would have played a "b" team against Samoa as canon fodder, so the first choice players could avoid injury. Unfortunately for us, it is now a must win game, and we have no choice but to field our strongest possible team.
Moral of the story, DON'T LOSE TO JAPAN!!!!!

Get this....for half my life I was opposed to having anything to do with racist sport under the old regime, boycotted Newlands etc etc....then the day arrives when I can embrace my national team under the pretext of a new regime offering a better way forward...only to witness a regurgitation of the same crap in a different format under a different umbrella. I mean seriously now....what hope is there when a trade union movement gets involved with the whining of selected players and the ANCYL who couldn't organize a piss-up in a brothel now threatens mass action if transformation is not implemented!? Cry me a river!

1. Ed Jones (ive always been a massive fan and he has spent time with the Boks already)
2. Venter as assistant (may be too strong headed for assistant though)
3. I'd like to see Ackers there as a forwards coach

I doubt very much that will ever happen. SARU would never allow a foreign head coach for the boks, possibly only as an assistant. It's uncertain whether Jones would be committed to coaching the boks again.

The real racists are those wanting to pick on colour not meirt.saffex those were bad comments. You are abetter man than that.
Jake, Mallet, Venter, Rassie, The Lions duo. Eddie Jones is needed at least as an attack coach.
I have a feeling we could still see these Boks snap back. Just pick a proper tight five for start

At this stage I do believe that the next coach will be a South African.
Given the performance Meyer has given thus far I believe no one could do worse.
I also think that the ANC will push the issue and force the hand of SAR to select a black coach.
Two reasons for my thinking:
1. Transformation to be pushed at all cost.2. To promote a black coach to the national stage irrespective of performance.
Next move would be to call the national team "PROTEAS" and remove the Springbok from the rugby jersey.
Dreaming....no, just watch the next political move in sport.

john the bok emblem is already gone its just moved to make every use to the idea.
as for the coach i do think its a great time to get foreign coaches in place. we have a massive identity crisis in south african rugby and we need change the way we play on all levels.
ackermann needs more time to develop the lions and apart from him there is no others.
eddie jones would add to the overall depth at the stormers and the likes of carel du plessis and co would really add a lot of value. we need these coaches to transfer some skills to our local crop and build on that.
the next coach needs to be a 8 year appointment so we need make sure we build up with the proper coaches and systems.

How bout throwing King Carlos into the mix as aan assistant?
Remember, it was he that introduced the harlem globetrotter style to the Lions...
he seems to be a rare case of transferring personal skill into a coaching acumen.
Just saying...
Jones and Carlos... Now that would be forward thinking.
Imagine the dynamic style of play they could introduce.

It won't work Flash...we just don't have the backs. There are plenty of Kolbe types, and they are great open field/ turnover ball types. But you really cant afford more than one a team. Then there are our "big" fast men, like Kriel, JJ and Goosen. They weigh enough but they are not strong fellows and get dominated in the collisions. There are big fellows like Allende, but you lose the speed component and in any case they aren't available in numbers.
We don't have wings and very few centres.
All the other nations, England, France, Australia are building their running game around big and fast men..mostly from the Pacific. They are naturally the best outside backs in the game.
Our strong suit is among the tall/ powerful men of the pack who make great locks and loosies. We have to play to that strength if we want to win....shape a game which is both tight and uses a few fast small men to counter. In effect that's what we did with Habana, not a tiny man but no power runner.
If we try a me too running game we will simply lose...to the ABs and Oz...but also to countries like England and France. We don't have there re sources to play the game the fans want....not a popular view, but show me one tournament we have won with our runners.

The problem is we do have the backs to play rugby - the issue is with the selection of dodgy players who have little skill in backlines and who is there based on their performances of years ago - when a different style of rugby was played by all teams. These players cannot adjust their playing styles - they have no ability to do so.
"If we try a me too running game we will simply lose...to the ABs and Oz...but also to countries like England and France. We don't have there resources to play the game the fans want....not a popular view, but show me one tournament we have won with our runners."
Don't we already lose because we play a style of rugby already changed by all countries? Ass to England and France Argentina and Japan as well. We can compete 0 but then we do need competitive players up front and in the backline - we have too many non-performers in both at present.
Everyone knows we lose matches because of the present playing deficiencies and shocking squad selections - but some thinks we must retain those deficiencies and everything will be fine. How many idiots do we have on this site who cannot see where things go drastically wrong and then keep on spouting their standard BS? What a joke they are.

Flash...I see Jones as an attacking coach so I don't see the need for another backline coach like Spencer, I'd add a good forwards and defensive coach into the mix.
