Tigers boss Richard Cockerill fears supporter segregation may be introduced to rugby following the fiery match between Leicester and Toulon last Sunday.

Cockerill's fears referred to an alleged incident in Sunday's heated match between Leicester and Toulon where the Top 14 side's fullback Delon Armitage was reportedly involved in an altercation with the Tigers' supporters. Armitage is currently under investigation from Champions Cup tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby.

The Tigers boss fears any more similar incidents and rugby could be forced to go down football's route. "If what has been reported is true, it's not great is it?" Cockerill says in the Daily Telegraph. "What will happen is that players and supporters will be more and more segregated and you will end up like football, where there is no relationship after a game between players and fans. I hope that day doesn't come. Both sides, fans and players, need to treat each other with respect. Banter is one thing, abuse quite another." (A point I make repeatedly when dealing with erring oaks!!)

It was an eventful evening for Cockerill who was subject to a foul-mouthed tirade from former Tigers prop Martin Castrogiovanni who lashed out at the club and coach for the manner in which they dealt with his departure to Toulon. The prop is also under investigation and has reportedly been served a three-day ban by Toulon.

Cockerill described Castrogiovanni's rant as "disgusting" and has added the prop "made a fool of himself".

"To call our club a bunch of amateurs after what we have done over the last 134 years, well, that's incorrect," Cockerill said. "The one thing we do at this club is treat people properly. It's madness. Castro has gone off on one and made a fool of himself. Certainly he has tarnished his reputation and I am not really sure why. I was amazed and have no idea where all that angst came from."


I think really the only answrer is to separate the yobs. Clearly the English, forgs and italians hav no idea how they should conduct themseves at a rugby match etc . No blaming Dywer for this one!!

 Ummmmm.......and what is it I have read about incidents at your Rugby matches this past year ? Did someone get killed for talking to someone's girlfriend ??? Have there been fights in the stands at the Kings matches etc ? Hmmmm....best shut up, Beeno !!

No Becs, we never have such incidents! Granted, every now and again one of our supporters tackles the ref....hang on, n evermind!  
Beans, we have our fair share of incidents. There is a good reason nobody is allowed to drink alcohol in the stands at Loftus.

 Ah yes, I imagined them all  I think I have spent too long reading Beeno's posts and am suffering some of his delusions  

As for Castro......his behaviour was appalling. If he has a gripe, there are ways of dealing with that. This was not one of them and I know he has sullied his reputation somewhat...he was much loved here. Leicester is a tough place to play at. You don't get picked on reputation, you have to earn it. If you can't deal with that ? 
The other incident, with Armitage, is being looked into. There is a certain amount of hearsay and contradictory statements, so ? Personally, I don't rate the man or like his attitude, but the facts need to be obtained before they hang him out to dry ! 
I have been to Welford Road many a time. It is a bear pit both on and off the pitch. But it has never spilled over into incident when I have been there. Yes, tempers have frayed, but they often do, it seems. And alcohol mixed with testosterone does seem to play a huge part in that ( and that is just the women  ) All I know is, that I am liking the crowds less and less these days. Far less knowledgable about the game and manners, more interested in the alcohol in lots of cases. I don't like the way things are going  
Oh.....a fact for Beeno......Castro is actually Argentinian  No Italians involved here ! He just plays for Italy

Castro's rant was foul. If he has a problem, deal with it in a manner befitting someone of his standing and in the correct way. Not like a foul mouthed yob.
If Armitage abused a child as well as the adults, then that needs sorting out too. 
Rugby doesn't need this.

 Bluebok yes we all know why achohol is banned at loftues. Its a well know fact that the smaller the brain capacity the worse the effect of the alcohol!Becs we have the odd yob at our matches but its never ever come close to having crowd separation as far as I know.

This is just an isolated incident and you are simply stirring as usual. The only person mentioning crowd separation is Richard Cockerill and he is simply winding things up for Saturday's re-match. 

What happened last week needs a proper investigation, things need sorting out properly and those involved need the correct sanctions to send out the correct message to others. 
No crowd measures have been put in place anywhere and I doubt they ever will !! It will be a very sad day if they have to be !!

 Yes, I have read exactly what he said....even the unedited version. I also know he was going through a divorce at the time too, so that cost him even more money ! Just because Toulon wouldn't pay his transfer fee and he had to pay it himself, to buy himself out of his contract, as many players do.....that was his decision. And still he mainly sits on the bench, week in, week out. 

No, he made an idiot of himself.

Incidentally why the reference to Hollanders as D ut chman a swearword...that's really taking things to extremes and quite honestly ridiculous but it is the way of this insane thought today...we are scared to hurt sensitivities that are laughable...we are men (at least I hope some of us are) of the this world are wimps...ass-holes and cannot face realities...we cover all the s h it up by vulgar niceties but don't really care a rats ass.
