I've no doubt you will be more competitive at home and over the course of the season several of your times will rise up the table.
As for the top teams, which I would argue are the 4 Irish teams and then behind them 2 Scottish teams.
Leinster absolutely spanked the Bulls at the start of the year, yes it was a home game for Leinster, but the Bulls where actually closer to full strength than Leinster where and Leinster won that game in second gear. They really have the fire in the belly this season after they had to forfeit a Champions cup game to Montpellier due to Covid but then went out and subsequently battered Montpellier and Bath.
Connacht the weakest Irish team put them to the sword as well. (lol at Jake White's their a small club comment" yes Jake they are small club with twice the operating budget of the Bulls)
As for playing in South Africa it really depends on what strength teams the Irish send down. But say it was a Champions Cup match in SA and full strength teams where sent down, I'd put money on Leinster, Ulster and Munster beating any SA franchise team. They just have stronger teams. Less confident in Connacht but they would be competitive (After all they ran the English league leaders extremely close in both home and away matches in the Champions Cup).
I do believe South African teams will become more competitive within a few seasons, but if some people believe the URC is a weaker league that's unworthy of South African teams then really the SA teams should be winning the URC at a canter.
