Frans was never mediocre in any position. His performance at 10 between 2007 and 2015 were excellent. In fact, they were so good that they eclipse the likes of Libbok, Lambie, Goosen, Pienaar, Willemse et al quite comfortably. I can cite some jaw dropping stats. His best position by quite some distance was 12, he was next best at 10, then on the wing, and then at 15. He can play 15, but his skillset is much better elsewhere. Frans was and still is a highly talented player. Willemse is not a very talented player, and cannot make up for it with cerebral contributions. He ended up at 10 because he failed at 15, then 12 because he failed at 10. Frans played many positions because he was often better than most of the incumbents, and could play them well; Willemse has ended up in multiple positions because we cannot find a place where he can excel. Willemse is yet another in the increasing list of imaginary talents that simply doesn't exist. His performances last year were shockingly bad. I wouldn't even have him in the squad. I would rather be a man down than resort to him.

Show me Willemse playing well against a good defence Mpower. Even moderate to average. His performances last year were poor. Even against all time bad opposition. Willemse is a D- at the ceiling of his potential. He is nowhere near as good as Frans, at any stage of his career, at any position. Show me Willemse turning a losing All Black test around. Show me anything. It's becoming quite tedious having to continually talk about the least of what we have available to us. There wasn't one quality Bok showing last year, in an atttack that was the most ragged, scattershot, and toothless of the entire Erasputin tenure. The England test was when they played one of their worst ever tests, in a poor season. But, when they pitch up, how bad do we look? I'm not going to drop my standards for a feel-good narrative, a false sense of security. I have never seen Bok rugby have expectations that were so low. Erasputing must have sold his soul to the devil. So much better has been viciously hounded out of the Bok job.
Damian had 100% negative contributions in the 2018 test season. He wasn't used often, but when he played, it wasn't very good. His first contribution was throwing an intercept pass. His play against New Zealand was horrific, and he actually helped lose that test. I challenge you to reference a play in 2018 where he was effective.
