Well Hasbeeno, looks like the Boks made the wrong call now doesn’t it?

Deserted the SR competition and now expect NZ to bend over backwards to suit your new situation?

You may have been getting whipped constantly in SR but it appears you should have stayed put if this dork on the video is serious about your player welfare!!

Very amusing how he kept contradicting himself all the way through. Crying about the tired Boks and then in the same breath bragging about how they will continue to be the best anyway!

Time to grow a pair Hasbeeno and come scuttling back to a real competition…..

I don't care about this bickering, Rugby fundamental problem is that it is trying to be professional for the past 30 years, yet want to hold on to the amateur values that make rugby and some how we are still stuck with Amateur administrators that get their inspiration from Manchester United marketing play-book.

If rugby for once stop worrying about how much money = how many games

But rather worry about the product, being the players, the sport and the atmosphere then the money will follow.

We should be looking at two places. NFL, 32 teams, world rugby can't even put 32 test teams of that quality out into the world let alone professional teams. If you combined all the best clubs in the world, we won't even make 20, that includes the kiwi teams.

Players are chasing money and longevity of their career.

If you follow the NFL model, restrict game time, Franchises, teams have to pony up the money and go through a rigorous financial qualificaiton model and it is really hard to get an NFL team. There are 50 states but there is only 32 teams.

The anomaly in club rugby is France, there is so much being poured into the game but then the season is very long and full of rugby mercenaries. Players don't come back better from France, the come back crocked.

To me rugby has always been about your test team.

It is Fantastic to see Ireland, Argentina and for a while Wales and to a degree Scotland and even Italy getting more professional. Japan is starting to produce some upsets.

To a degree I side with the Kiwis, but they didn't help themselves by loading the super rugby in their favour and Australias. They should never have had 4 teams, they should allowed their players to become free agants and play for Australian teams. SA is fine with 4 teams. So super 12 was always the perfect formula. Play over 14 weekends, near test quality games, 11 matches, semi final, final and then we start looking forward to test rugby season and the championships. But when started adding Japan, Argentina, more Australian teams the wheels came off.

But the system always favoured New Zealand, SA had to travel and play 4 and even 5 games away from home on the road.

If they brought it back I would have done what the NFL did and chose a neural location.

It worked when the Sharks and Crusaders played at Twickenham with nearly 40 000 people that showed up to watch it.

Rugby should always start with the national team, players should play in their countries, and each nation should be able to product a fantastic product.

Back then I could name all the players from the Super 12.

Today I don't know that many good players in the Irish, Welsh, Scottish or Italian teams. If you ask me, who are the best players in Benneton, Cardiff, Leinster and so on I couldn't tell you.

Moolaa is right this sanctimonious fellow contradicts himself all the time. He talks about the schedule shortening player careers, but fails to note that the Boks beat England last year with a team that averaged 30 years in age. The current Boks are the oldest and most successful Bok team ever.

His fundamental point is right….the South African players aren’t getting a break, but surely our rugby leaders could have anticipated that when they decided to exit Super Rugby. He’s also right when he says the money dominates, but name a sport where that’s not true.

Watching teams play rugby in Durban in mid summer makes a fundamental point, rugby isn’t suited to hot weather and poses a real, potentially catastrophic health risk to players . That can’t be fixed in a NH dominated competition, but the need for down time can, by making it the Seven Nations. Yuk!

And what’s the point of the new pseudo WC tournament this year….it simply aggravates the problem and is bound to devalue the actual WC. Why not rather put the WC on a 3 year cycle…..the Ancient Greeks had the Olympics every 4 years for various trade and religious reasons. But the Isthmian Games were held every 2 years in Corinth. There is no magic in 4.
