The latest inofrmation on this issue is as follows:-
"Springbok captain Jean de Villiers says he looks to make a full recovery following his knee surgery on Thursday.
De Villiers underwent surgery on the left knee he injured in the final test of the season against Wales, in Cardiff last weekend.
"I would like to thank every medical practitioner involved in my injury, from Saturday when it happened until today's operation," De Villiers said in a statement.
"My focus will now be on the arrival of our third child in the coming days. Thereafter it will be about recovering as soon as possible so I can start with my rehabilitation.
"I still have my sights set on going to next year's Rugby World Cup and will do everything in my power to get to England."
De Villiers had a full reconstruction of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments with an artificial graft, as well as a repair of the medial collateral ligament.
"The procedure went well, but at this stage it is difficult to determine an exact return to play time-frame," Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts said.
"The use of an artificial graft should speed up his rehabilitation and hopefully increase his chances of making a successful return to the playing field."
The above ia really good news. H ope he recovers fully from the horrific injury.
That was not all that was actually said by De Villiers - he also said t hat his next priority is the birth of his third child within the next few days. This guy seems to eb one of the kind of men whose wife gets pregnant every time he hang his pants over the bedstead - three childen in three years is quick family building. .
