The usual unsupported Dave assertions. Here is the truth from the Rugby 365.
5 - Brodie Retallick (Chiefs):
Another player who towered over his rivals.
Bubbling under: Victor Matfield (Bulls)

4 - Will Skelton (Waratahs):
He may have played off the bench in the latter stages, but his impact was immense.
Bubbling under: Lodewyk de Jager (Cheetahs)

 Er.....feeling silly again
Team of the Tournament: One-pointer; Rugby 365
August 04, 2014, 18:54:50

The Waratahs claimed their first Super Rugby crown with a one-point win and that is exactly the margin in rugby365's famous Team of the Tournament.

As was to be expected, the champions have a healthy representation in our selection after 125 matches and more than five months of conception - including the June break.

It was a tough selection, having to look back over so many matches to find the best individuals in each position. It made for an interesting mix.

The Waratahs just edge the Highlanders (four to three) for the biggest selection in our starting XV.

The Sharks (two) are the only other outfit with more than one player - the losing finalists, Crusaders, Brumbies, Western Force, Lions, Chiefs and Blues all got a look-in.

Our back-up squad has an even bigger spread, three teams with two each - the Waratahs, Brumbies and Lions.

The Crusaders, Cheetahs, Blues, Hurricanes, Chiefs, Sharks, Force, Stormers and Bulls each have one player Bubbling Under.

Team of the Tournament:

15 - Ben Smith (Highlanders):
He was key to the Highlanders' resurgence, which ended in the play-offs.
Bubbling under: Israel Folau (Waratahs)

14 - Henry Speight (Brumbies):
Worked his way into the Wallaby squad, only for injury to delay the inevitable first Test cap.
Bubbling under: Johnny McNicholl (Crusaders)

13 - Malakai Fekitoa (Highlanders):
He stepped his way into the All Black frame and is set to stay there for a long time.
Bubbling under: Adam Ashley Cooper (Waratahs)

12 - Kurtley Beale (Waratahs):
It is difficult to understand why he is not a regular starter for the Wallabies.
Bubbling under: Ma'a Nonu (Blues)

11 - Nick [removed]mins (Western Force):
We are going to miss his chirps, but - more importantly - the quality of his game.
Bubbling under: Julian Savea (Hurricanes)

10 - Bernard Foley (Waratahs):
He may not have been the best when the season got underway, but grew in stature and delivered the tournament-clinching play.
Bubbling under: Matt Toomua (Brumbies)

9 - Aaron Smith (Highlanders):
Arguably the best No.9 in the world at the moment.
Bubbling under: Cobus Reinach (Sharks)

8 - Kieran Read (Crusaders):
It was a tough call, but Read just edged the willing Lion from Johannesburg.
Bubbling under: Warren Whiteley (Lions)

7 - Michael Hooper (Waratahs):
Was there ever any doubt?
Bubbling under: Matt Hodgson (Western Force)

6 - Jaco Kriel (Lions):
He is so much more than just a physical specimen, a forward with the skills and vision of a back.
Bubbling under: Nizaam Carr (Stormers)

5 - Brodie Retallick (Chiefs):
Another player who towered over his rivals.
Bubbling under: Victor Matfield (Bulls)

4 - Will Skelton (Waratahs):
He may have played off the bench in the latter stages, but his impact was immense.
Bubbling under: Lodewyk de Jager (Cheetahs)

3 - Charlie Faumuina (Blues):
One position where the options seemed plentiful, yet the quality limited.
Bubbling under: Ben Tameifuna (Chiefs)

2 - Bismarck du Plessis (Sharks):
He had his moments where his composure let him down, but he is still the best hooker in the world.
Bubbling under: Stephen Moore (Brumbies)

1 - Tendai Mtawarira (Sharks):
He was truly a Beast.
Bubbling under: Schalk van der Merwe (Lions)

But Dave you incredibly thick fool....explain how you get four players from 4 different teams in one game. It had to at least be a TOW. But then you aren't really known for smarts, are you?

Hmm given Retallick is a 4 the less said about this rating the better. Much like having passenger Matfield bubbling under. But good to see the confirmatio n of how good Lood was playing for one of the worst sides in the comp

JeromeV in that Boks move against the Lions, the defending player moved to tackle the decoy runner whereas in Hendricks try the decoy runner stood in Crudens way (flapping his arms in the air) and preventing Cruden from tackling Hendricks. He cleared the path for Hendricks.

One can debate players, but only an utterly stupid fool would think you can get players from 4 different teams from one game. Congrats that's a candidate for stupid comment of the tournament

How did you guess? What has he done since his forty minutes of fame against the World XV, after all? Oh yes, now I remember. He strolled around the park against the Argies before waving their scrummy through for a pasella try.

Moffie get over yourself you prick why not explain your stupid post instead of just posting a few names - how stupid.
I did not pay much attention to the details of your sad excuse for ratings given the stupid author had Retallick as a 5 and then goes and selects the Lions openside as a blindside in his team - what a joke.
Vlagshit Lood was no better or worse than his bok team mates in those tests....hardly a measure of his potential status as a test player you fickle twit

Follow the bouncing ball Dave.....4 different teams cannot equal one match. Are you following me Dumbo? By the way it wasn't one person who chose Retallik it was a panel of five...but of course you know better. Thick as a brick.

Well I am not stupid enough to pick Retallick at 5 when he is a 4 - it's basics but you are too thick to pick that up for your rugby knowledge runs shallow.
But I just wonder how Lood made that list kind of back fired on you did it not for it exposes your complete bullshit regarding him.
Let me guess players that made the team are poor are they....you exposed yourself old man - how fucking stupid is that bwhaaahaaaaa

Stay down Dave....I have already told you Lomp was the most hyped lock in the S15. In the end he couldn't even displace a huge fattie that can't play effectively for more than 15 minutes and was shown up by the ABs.

But let's keep focus.....4 different teams can't be represented in one game.....just keep trying to absorb that. Walk before you try to run.

 @hakwa,
the obstruction to Cruden is very clear. Serfontein stopped in the middle of the AB' defens ive line and stood there obstructing Cruden who otherwise could have reached Hendriks.
This is the kind of ref's mistakes that could be avoided if the referrals are introduced.

ABasquefan I agree. The difference in the two videos shown is exactly what you state. In the Habana try the decoy runner did just that and ran as a decoy through the line and kept going. In the try on the weekend Serfontein stopped in the defensive line which for mine makes him more of an obstruction than a decoy. I am not sure if the result would have been any different but its where he stops that creates the issue.

The angle at which Hendricks came in may have taken him past Cruden anyway, but we'll never know. Thing is, Cruden, just like I pointed out with Morne Steyn against Aus, stopped playing the moment someone stepped in front of him, turning his back on the action and appealing to the ref. He could have gone past Serfontein's right and still maybe had a part to play in the defense, but even before Hendricks received the pass he was already turning around to wave his arms at the ref.

Hakwa, if you wanna call that forward, how about this: It's marginal, but Read was in front of the kicker for the Mac Caw try: linkThese things happen and we had a great game between 2 exceptional teams, with the better team winning on the day, but we were kept in suspense until the whistle made an end to the contest. Both teams were forced in to errors by their opponents.

Draad, no way was Read in front. The black line shows the kicker's position at the moment of striking the ball, the yellow line shows Read's position.

AB and Hakwa
I looked at that try repeatedly ad could not find any obstruction in evidence.  In any event - even if Cruden was in position to make an effort it is unlikely that he would have stopped the try - he never was the soundest of defenders and neither was he on Saturday.
I am afraid that the AB defense was caught off gauard and there was nothing they could have done to stop the try.

As for the forward pass from Pollard to Vermeulen, it's marginal. I layered two frames, one at pass release and one showing the position of Vermeulen when he received it. Their feet are almost in line, so it's a tight call, although Vermeulen is probably half a yard ahead.

And finally, the obstruction. Another layered image showing both the moment of obstruction and where Hendricks finally received the pass a split second later.

The issue is that Serfontein stopped instead of continuing through the line on his dummy run (yellow), preventing Cruden from drifting across (orange).

Look at where Nonu is at this stage, and where he finally tackles Pollard on the far right of the image. The Boks were drifting across fast, which is why I have a bit of doubt whether Cruden would have been able to get to Hendricks at the angle he was coming in.

Was it obstruction? Yeah, probably. Could Cruden have gotten to Hendricks to stop the try? Who knows.

 nice job, pakie.
As you said it was a very fast play, difficult to see even on the TV (it's not seen in some shots) so a lot more difficult to see on the ground.
It didn't affect the result but it's an example of what can be corr ected if the new referral system is introduced, IMO a step in the right direction to avoid ref controversial

If this was an obstruction which is debatable, they tried that Barrett scored in South Africa last year was certainly an obstruction.
Their is intentional obstructions, unintentional obstructions, and ones that certainly effect the play.
Given the speed of the move I doubt anyone was going to prevent Hendriks cutting the line

That's fine Draad I see many of these things only when I take screenshots and start drawing lines. Even in slow mo it's difficult because the camera angles give you a warped perspective. For example, Read's head appears to be in front of the kicker due to the camera angle, so just watching the video it's not that easy a call to make.

I know, funny how the officials didn't think of reviewing it. I think that quite some similar illegal tries were given in the past though. This one seemed OK though.
