Those who want to see how the RWC will be played should study this game. It was decided on mistakes. The Poms exploited the woeful Aussie scrum. If they can't fix this, Oz will be toast. They also need to stick with Foley, the Quaalude and Beale once again failed to deliver anything of substance in a tight match.
The Poms in turn suffered from very poor defensive structure. There was always space on the outside for Oz. Twelvetrees created a drooping line......AC cut into the bulge to gain many metres. Those who complain about Jean rushing forward should study the effects of the alternative....it created acres of space for Oz.
We also saw in Folau the risks of a fullback who can't kick quickly and with authority. The wings were fine, but Beale and White made key mistakes. All the props were road kill. The locks are ordinary at best....and with the tight forwards under the cosh, the loosies weren't great.
There was great joy when the new coach arrived.....as I said at the time, they might regret overlooking a White/ Jones combination. That time has come. There is only regression in these Cheika Aussies.
