-Morne Steyn must be discarded with immediate effect.

-Pat Lambie must start at Flyhalf.

Takes the  ball flat on the advantage line from 1st phase. Our forwards performance will improve because rucks will be infront of them, and not behind. So lineouts and scrums will allow the forwards to run onto the ball instead of being isolated by a Morne that stands too deep. It is demoralising as a forward to allways be running backwards.

Lambie has Speed, skill and brains. Good pass, strong runner as well as play maker. Reliable kicker for territory and poles. Strong defender. A complete rugby player.

-Ruan Pienaar must start at Scrumhalf.

Clears the ball from rucks faster than hougaard. Better kicker than Hougaard. A classic scrumhalf in passing and play making ability. who can also kick for poles. It should be between him and Lambie who takes responsibilty for kicking for poles.

- Hougard must play on the wing

Regardless if the ball makes it to the wing or not, Hougaard gets involved. He runs onto the ball from all angles and is very unpredictable. He is a better runner than playmaker. He also doubles as an extra scrumhalf when he Pienaar is caught behind play.

Hougaard has the potential to be the best wing in world rugby. His reading of the game from wing, and work rate is allready better than any wing in the world.

-Kirchner must be replaced with Gio Aplon.

Gio Aplon has excellant positional play on defence. Ideally he would be bigger but he makes up for this with intelligence. On attack he is a more elusive runner with more of a step than the crash ball Kirchner. Also much better pass and play making ability when entering the backline.

Experimental Option-

Move Bryan Habana to fullback. He would be able to counter attack more and get involved in the game. He can play both wings, and also outside center so not much reason he cant play fullback. He has a decent kick for touch and is an excellant counter attacking runner. Running from Fullback he is also a good passer so when cutting the backline he could create space for the wingers.

This would give the option to experiment on the wing- with either MVOVO and Hougaard. Or some youngers like Paul Jordaan with pace. If we get our fastest youngsters into the game to inject pace, the Habana influence from fullback could be a real option.

Paul Jordaan can play in allmost any position in the backline. With his blisstering pace we could start him on the wing now, and bring him closer to the inside as the World cup gets closer.

This experiment of haban at Fullback may fail- if it did it would be because of positional play on defence. However on attack I think it would bring lots of options. Habana is a seasoned professional- he does not have the pace he used to but is still fast. His experience could be better utlised at Fullback where he can get more involved

Interesting proposals - but it would get nowhere with Meyer.   His so-called game plan - which I believe in reality does not exist - does not allow for attacking back line play.   Balls get kicked away by the scrummie and flyhalf and that is the law according to Meyer.

Incidentally - I would play Taute at full back or bring Goosen in at flyhalf and play Lambie at full back.

i would agree with mike... i am not a big fan of playing a player out of his no position at international level. the swim if you can approach can work but more times than often that idea goes belly up

i reckon taute would be a great idea at the back. a real thinking player and is very skillfull. the fruits of the carlos spencer backline coacking skills.

Mike and Muncher, I have actually not even seen Taute play, just as I rarely watch the Lions play. It sounds like he is a good player and especially at Fulback. We need skills, brains and speed at the back.

I do think Habana could be amazing on attack at fullback, although he does sometimes have defensive lapses that are risky.
