This is a continuation of a discussion of on the Goosen thread, I feel it needs it's own thread as it's off topic on the other. So here we have the activities of Lambie against England, it was a typical performance by him, we see these things constantly from game-to-game year-after-year.

  1. 00:21 - Clearance kick deep inside 22, England lineout just outside Bok 22.
  2. 01:19 - Tackle assist, Coetzee the primary tackler. Driven backwards off ruck.
  3. 01:34 - Loose ball from England at ruck, Lambie and fellow Boks with outside-in defence to shepherd ball carrier back inside.
  4. 02:39 - Bok linout; Etzebeth jumper. Lambie with a slow, high floating pass to Serfontein who gets swarmed.
  5. 06:46 - Lambie grabs the waist of attacker and is dragged until Matfield brings him down.
  6. 10:56 - Lambie penalty.
  7. 14:14 - Lambie tackle. Lambie goes low on Barritt who runs gets behind the tackle attempt. Quick ball presented as defence moves backwards.
  8. 15:42 - Lambie conversion.
  9. 16:37 - Lambie attempted tackler assist but gets swatted away from tackler standing in a low Jean tackle.
  10. 21:31 - Lambie tackle. Lambie goes low on Barritt who gets behind the tackle attempt. Quick ball presented as defence moves backwards.
  11. 21:36 - Lambie attempts low tackle on Vunipola who runs through and breaks tackle completely.
  12. 21:54 - Eastmond (12) eyes up Lambie and runs at him, Lambie goes low but 12 gets behind the tackle.
  13. 22:08 - Lambie at ruck base, clears with kick inside Bok 22 which is charged down.
  14. 22:15 - Lambie scrambles back with fellow Boks to win loose ball and stem the tide.
  15. 23:21 - Lambie carelessly takes out Barrit off the ball
  16. 23:30 - Lambie piles into ruck
  17. 23:51 - Lambie rushes out the line in Bok 22 but England attacker (12) draws him only to throw a long pass over him.
  18. 25:57 - Lambie tackles 1 higher but 1 burrows low and presents clean ball.
  19. 27:40 - Lambie restart.
  20. 28:52 - Lambie kicks penalty to touch into England 22.
  21. 29:49 - Lambie with a cross-field kick from deep just outside England's 22 that's far too deep. Wasted opportunity.
  22. 32:16 - Lambie penalty.
  23. 33:05 - England 15 runs toward Lambie and kicks at him, Lambie concedes knocks on.
  24. 35:54 - Lambie restart.
  25. 37:46 - Lambie penalty. misses.
  26. 38:22 - Boks with numbers, Lambie attempts to run it; gets well stopped making no ground.
  27. 39:55 - Lambie attempts to rip the ball off 5 who is tackled by Matfield, gets driven away.

  1. 40:00 - 2nd half restart.
  2. 40:35 - Lambie receives ball deep, chips over rush defence and Boks get try through Willie-Reinach breakout.
  3. 41:58 - Lambie conversion.
  4. 45:45 - Lambie restart.
  5. 48:43 - Lambie restart.
  6. 50:04 - Bok penalty; Lambie kicks for touch.
  7. 50:58 - Bok penalty; Lambie kicks for touch.
  8. 54:39 - Lambie conversion. Misses.
  9. 58:05 - Bok scrum. Lambie passes from deep to Jean.
  10. 59:10 - Lambie gets smashed in possession on England's 22m line.
  11. 60:28 - Bok penalty. Lambie misses kick into the corner for Bok lineout inside England's 22. England were a man down in the forwards after yellow card!
  12. 61:58 - Lambie with an attempted tackle assist, no impact.
  13. 62:42 - Lambie passes from deep to Serfontein. Defence drifts and smothers Bok attackers out wide driving them into touch.
  14. 66:10 - Lambie penalty.
  15. 68:15 - Lambie restart.
  16. 69:52 - Lambie wraps attacker's upper body who receives ball as he stands flat footed in front of Lambie. Attacker gets forward momentum in the tackle presenting quick, clean ball.
  17. 71:30 - Barritt runs at Lambie and drives through the tackle attempt.
  18. 71:39 - Lambie passes from deep, inside Bok 22, to Serfontein.
  19. 74:29 - Bok penalty; Lambie kicks to the corner. Bok lineout in England 22.
  20. 76:01 - Lambie drop goal inside England 22.
  21. 78:12 - Lambie grabs attacker by the ankles and twists in the tackle bringing him to ground.
  22. 78:36 - Lambie with an attempted tackle assist but falls off.
  23. 79:46 - Lambie restart.

There you have it. What more needs to be said? We saw no flat running, we saw no slick distribution, we saw no command with the boot. He was stodgy at best. Even worse then that on defence; England ran hard at him and he failed to cope. The net result? They got the quick clean ball they wanted and dictated most of the game as our defensive line was marched back after each and every failed tackle attempt. Our opponents continually go after him and they continually get what they want.

Nothing rugby related? Such a shame that the trolls at SS banned you; fancy that, even they couldn't tolerate you. So you loaf around here with all the vigor of a stale fart bleating endlessly from that gaping crevice in the crudely etched, weather-beaten, slab you call a face. Don't worry Rooibek, I know you are just a worn down middle-aged never-was who has been beaten down by life, riddled with bitterness and anger; but in the end you just want to feel validated and special.

Lambie was pretty much the same for Italy and Wales. He tackles well low, but closer to the line he can't effectively smother the passer. His own running yields nothing and too often he holds his pass until the receiver is about to be hammered. His long passing, like the dying duck to Peterson, is not crisp.

In the entire match against the Poms he made the chip and the drop.....the rest was mediocre and worse. And that was his best start on tour.

 Letsallbemorons
Here is the stats on Lambie:-
Lambie0/0164/4/20000110/10/000/0
The  fact that this moron mentioned Lambie's involvement in the game 50 times in a game lasting 80 minutes is absolute bullshit of the first order.   Any player in any game is not that active and what he sees as invovlement is tommyrot.
According to the stats in the whole game Lambie handled the ball ten times - he kicked four times - passed the ball 4 times and carried the ball twice.   Lambie lost the ball possession once - by failing to find touch in the filed of play with a penalty - it went out behind the corner flag - he made 10 tackles and missed one.
Now cut out the garbage and then tell us what really was the situation.
Most of the abovei s real BS and a biased and unconfoirmed lot of garbage.   Have you nothing better to do than to come up with that tripe?

You watched the game and recorded everything Lambie did ? Impressively obsessed !

N o flyhalf on tour smothered themselves in glory. If we ran the same exercise for Handre Pollard's outing against Ireland I think you will find it even more atrocious.

No need to - for a player to be active in 50 cases in a game is a total impossibility.   Normally about 40 minutes is taken up by scrums, line-outs, mauls. penalties, converting of tries etc.
That means Lambie was involved in the game onee every 40 seconds of actually play.  That is a physical impossibility - so if that is not BS of the first order what is?   I am not going to waste any time going through that lot of tripe.
Now be clever - for a change - and try and figure that one out so as not to support your fellow-moron.

Maaik old toppie....that's an interaction about every 1.5 minutes....totally possible for a flyhalf. Don't whine, just find an  instance Lestat reported a false involvement....the floor is your's. But if you have nothing to add, take my advice and shut it.

You are on your usual course of accusing another poster of lying....back it up.

Bloody impossible.  The player handled the ball in total ten times and according to your fellow-moron Lambie wa constantly involved in everything.   Think moron - what your fellow- moron wrote is a physical impossibility.   Get it into your head - game, set and match.
Just do yourself a favour and compare the stats with what Letsallbemoron wrote and you will find out that what he wrote does not add up to the stats and he is making a fool of himslef.

By the way he must have learnt this type of rubbish from you with your morzoscope _ which alays turned out to be BS as well.

@mosquitofart

To be entirely fair, it hardly seems that Nosferatu's play by play account is objective by any measure.

Considering the colorful language used (smashed, swatted, dragged, swarmed) for each negative incident and the bland, 'legal'esque' type description used for each positive contribution it would require a dimwit of impressive magnitude not to view Nosferatu's assessment of Lambie as subjective at best which reduces its legitimacy somewhat.

You surely dont buy that classic marketing technique do you ?

Even dumbassmike noted it. Rooihol did too and so do I.

Nosferatu - do a play by play of the Ireland game. Lets see how that one reads.

Mozart - point out where I said  "he wasn't involved in these interactions at all. "   You are a liar unless ypou can prove I said what you wrote here.      I refer to the stats indicating most of the issues he was involved in - so  now get your flipping lies admitted for a change.

Nope you said he couldn't have been involved in 50 interactions.....it wasn't a question of whether he did well, or whether Lestat was accurate in his descriptions....your bald assertion was it was impossible for Lambie to be involved so many times. Here is the relevant passage:

"The  fact that this moron mentioned Lambie's involvement in the game 50 times in a game lasting 80 minutes is absolute bull[removed] of the first order.   Any player in any game is not that active and what he sees as invovlement is tommyrot."

So I ask you again, which of these incidents was Lambie not involved in? No ducking, diving or changing the subject.

England.  28..... Boks 31

Italy     6..... Boks 8

Wales.    12..... Boks 6

Total.     Opponents 59.....Boks.  50

 Without Lambie

Ireland 16...Boks 10

England.....no substitution

Italy 0...Boks 14

Wales 0....Boks 0

Total   Opponents 16....Boks 24

The fact is there is no evidence having Lambie at 10 helped the Bok cause. On the contrary the team without Lambie was well ahead in points....the team with Lambie well behind. Not definitive, but another data point suggesting Lambie is not a campaign flyhalf. More of a bench player that provides versatility.

Moz,  we still lost the game against Ire with Pollard  being the main 10 AND we beat the Poms with Bambie. Against Wales the overseas players were not involved, so it can't be taken as a yard stick. I'm all for Pollard, but due to the game plan we lost to Ireland. Bambie played the rest of the tests and we were also poor, but at least we beat the Poms. Like Mike says, there were some other players in the team as well.

But by isolating Lambie and Pollard one does get a bit of a sense of how the teams did when they were on the field. The big swing was against Italy when Pollard's superior running game blew the Italians away.

To me Lambie looks much like the flyhalf who started the last two S15s and got worse the longer things went. He made heaps of mistakes against the Poms and Wales.....he will never win us a RWC. I hope HM has the guts to go with Pollard.

Balls and utter balkls - where is the answer to my question?
Interesting theory though.   Lmbie is replaced and the team performs better.   The Bulls replaced Fouche and Matfield is the reason for their improvement - not the flyhalf.
This kind of prejudiced BS is what we get from some of our members.

There is no prejudice whatsoever. Do you know what is though? Bare faced lies! When someone hates a player to the extent they fabricate an entire decade of nonsense to justify that hatred... well, that is prejudice right there. What I have done is as I always do, present the cold hard facts. I will have a video up in the next few days to go along with my summary. You can get to work in the mean time making some excuses as to why video evidence is not evidence at all; you'll have to avoid the "stats are where it is" as I had you beaten in that department too. No way out but the deep dive as Mozart puts it, that followed by the subsequent threads stuffed to the brim with vitriol.

@Draad: Draad, it's not a case of not pointing out anything good in Lambie's game. In fact, I've already stated the pros to the cons to him as a player and where he could fit in. But the question at 10 is this, does he bring enough to the table? Are there more good things than bad? The summary makes it clear, no, there are not enough positives. I don't blame him entirely for the Boks poor showing, there are certainly other issues too, but his a quite a heavy burden to carry.

If you honestly believe you are entirely objective, please conduct the same play by play description for Handre Pollard in the Ireland game. Please also use descriptions such as smashed, dragged etc.

Looking forward to that one. More than likely will contain extensive justification language . Lets compare the two descriptions to each other.

If you want to prove the point then do the video yourself. I'm not splicing footage at the behest of lazy oafs, if you think you are onto something then the onus is on you to spend the time to put it all together. As per semantics, the video I post will match seamlessly with my summary.

Relax. It is all about opinions. You make a lot of statements which cannot be substantiated and that is ok. Stop killing yourself over this.

I am not trying to intimate anything nor am I of any intention to fall face forward into any kind of egg. I am sure your carefully and colorfully crafted one-sided account will garner support from many, however to me without a comparison it is superfluous.

I suspected but was not certain until your last contribution that it seems you are provincially motivated for sure. I definitely dont have the obsession with Pollard that you apparently have with Lambie. In my opinion, if we were to use only the end of year tour as indication, then neither are Springbok quality flyhalf options.

I only wish Goosen had got more game time. It is apparent that Heyneke Meyer himself is still trying to fit the correct Nr 10 into his game. At this point in time I dont think we have anything solid and this was painfully obvious on the Northern Hemisphere fields where we will compete for the world cup next year.

The Ireland game was atrocious and unfortunately Handre Pollard was complicit.

If you admitted that Handre Pollard had a below par performance against Ireland I am sure it will lend more credibility to the objectivity you are so vehemently eager to claim.

Provincially motivated? I am the least tribal minded person you will ever meet. Not one team has escaped my wrath at some point. Last season it was the Bulls I hounded the most, the Sharks the least. When I backed the Bulls then I was a Bulls fan, when I backed the Sharks as our best then for several years on SARugby.net I was a Sharks fan., when WP... you get the idea. The problem is this, you are a relativist. You try to twist an interpretation until it fits your preconceived notions. I point out Lambie's failings then you try to find a way of interpreting it so that you can still man-love Lambie. So you resort to the, "You are from tribe x and Lambie's tribe y". Unfortunately for you, the facts I have presented are still facts and you have dealt not with the issue at hand merely skirted around it so you may find a pocket of ignorance to coddle into. Well, the video is down below, not that it matters because you will still defend your preconceived notions founded on emotion, not logic, sound reasoning or fact.

Oh, and as an aside? Pollard's performance, nyet, the Bok performance as a whole, against Ireland was the best on tour. Pollard was still very good.

Pollard's performance against Ire had more to do with a poor game plan than the inability of the player. Against England, Bambie made allot of errors, but still steered the game out of the Pom's reach. Much of the same to me. Wales was a game that should not have been played at all, but Mammon had his say.

Pl is still my favourite...the pressures on and he has not been handled right...in NZ he would have been a star...simply because NZ coaches recognise exceptional talent, he would have done well in any country that has no pre-conceived format, even Scotland...I was told he nearly went there...being of proud Scot's background...PL is a strong man with integrity and loyal to the "t".

Pat do your best young man...you have many backers here and fans here and worldwide.

You have got a huge challenge from a very unforgiving public...you have not played your best...your coach must use you correctly but I know you are stronger th an that...rise above them Pat...you're a great.
