Phoney War Flashback....the dreadful defensive gaffs that blew the 2015 Semi
Success rates:
Super Rugby 2018
Esterhuizen: 85% (9 rounds, 584 minutes analyzed)
Damian: 87.5% (9 rounds, 636 minutes analyzed)
Test season 2018 (appearances at center):
Esterhuizen: 83.3% success (364 minutes) or 80.4% (384 minutes) including substitute appearance on the wing against England.
Damian: 84.8% success (609 minutes)
Numbers of course don't tell the whole story. Esterhuizen is far more effective on the rush than Damian is (in the Australia game for example the commentators specifically mentioned his role in getting the line up).
Anyway, this is tiresome and we've already had this discussion somewhere on this board.
Strzok and Comey
You started this thread with a distortion - allow me to quote you:-
"The Boks actually defended manfully in the semi....but two horrible lapses cost them."
So lets look at the tackle stats for the test - both tackles made and tackles missed - unlike Piss-Brain's efforts - include the bench payers as well:-
Tackles made by all players 123 - tackles missed 22
Manful defenders
Backline - De Allende - tackles made 8 tackles missed 2 - Pollard 11 made 5 missed
Forwards - Mtawarira, Malherbe, Etzebeth. De Jager - tackles made 49 missed 4
Loosies 33 made 3 missed
Bench players - Alberts 6 tackles made I missed.Failures
Backline players tackles made - 8 missed 2 - all the rest not named failed - some worse than others.
Forwards - Hooker - 5 tackles made 2 missed
Benchplayers - Strauss, Nyakane, Matfield Jannoe du Plessis - 8 tackles made 2 missed.
If that is manful defending - I can only say "Blaas my siel"
Here we have 23 players of which 9 were reasonable defenders - the other 14 did squat or near to squat in defense. Of the 30 backline tackles made Pollard made 11 missing 5, De Allende made 8 missing 2 and Lambie made 3 missing none. - The rest of the backline players made - the rest of the backline made 8 tackles missing 3
So starting off with standard BS - Strzok then blamed De Jager and De Allende two of the players with of the better backline and forward stats for poor defense and dreamed up one reason to attack them. I know you specialize in distortion and misrepresentation bordering on outright lies - but this is rich.
Strzok
Keep up the great debate making a bigger fool of himself all along. Facts speak for itself. Out of the 23 players playing that day 9 did the lion share of the work in defense and the players who made two or three tackles each was dismal. Of the 30 backline plater tackles 3 layers made 22. the other 7 players made 8 tackles/. I the players wjpo diod near to nothing both tries could have been avoided if the rest did their work.
Anyway the De Allende story is a distortion and you ,may not realize it - but what you write is real garbage and you are making a fool of yourself.
Happy Distortion and Liar s Day to you.
