The sign that there was something serious wrong in 2015 was emphasized in the awards for the players of the year and the question arises are why did none of the senior players were even nominated:-
*  The coach of the Year -  Johan Ackerman*  The Young player of the Year - Jesse Kriel*  The Super 15 Player of the year - Damian de Allende*  The Players Player of the year - Jaco Kriel*  The SA Player of the Year - Lood de Jager
There was no nominees of any of the senior players who made up such a high percentage of the Springbok WC squad.  Not one of them deserved nomination.
The fact that Jaco Kriel got two awards - the CC Player of the Year, as well as the above-mentioned award raised a serious question mark as to why he was not in the WC squad.   Other than Kriel - the other top awards went to three youngsters consistently criticized and belittled on this site and that raised the issue why some members regard younger players as useless and not worthy of replacing the reputation players.

Those awards look spot on to me and they put some much-needed perspective on the huge volumes of utter garbage we've seen plastered all over the pages of the forum for the last year.
The two Kriels - Jaco and Jesse, Lood de Jager, Damian de Allende . . . those are indeed the stars of SA rugby last season . . . although to read this forum, you'd think they might all be hyped up pretenders, useless donkeys and "tractors".
LMAO!
Lots of egg for some of the opinionated blowhards who frequent this site . . . even if they're too pompous and arrogant to realize they have egg dribbling down their fat faces!

Why do they not comment on this thread? It is because they are afraid of causing more egg on an already mountain of egg covering them.

Actually the  Kriels are probably going to get 3 awards...the other being Japanese Player of the year for Jessie.
Meanwhile it is reliably reported that Lomp is definitely Jerome Kaino's player of 2015.

Best advice - it is better to keep quiet on your part in this case.  None of the players you supported were even nominated by the public for anything and fact is they were too poor to be nominated.  So it is only putting you in a ridiculous situation by making a posting in the manner you did.

Kreil's missed tackle against the Japs cost us that encounter & Lood's pisspoor attempt on Kaino, well, . De Allende was good but came up short when compared to his NZ counterparts .

Actually that sad list of "players of the year" is a clear indicator of just how far our rugby has fallen. With the veterans leaving the stage after the WC the immediate future looks bleak.

The problem is the veterans left real rugby years ago and stuck around to disgrace us,  That is never acknowledged by you and others who swore by them.  Just look at what happened to for instance Northampton who were so influenced by the hype they contracted a dud and now find he is useless.
The problem was that the whole scenario reflected a total delusion and that is to stick with them forcing our rugby in decline.  The future looks according to you bleak - but 2014 and 2015 was so bleak - the future cannot be bleaker than what happened then.  Getting down to no 6 in the world was an all-time low achievement in Springbok rugby and that would be not easy to match.
You come up with one incident in matches - yet ignore it why that incident was fatal in our chances to win.   The whole scenario in the Japan test for instance was not that incident - it was the performance of the team for the rest was so poor and that is ignored by you.
There were two tries scored in the semi-final.  You always harp on the first try and ignore the second try.  So lets see what happened in the case of the second try.  Burger lost ball possession 15 meters from the tryline and the turnover led to the second All Black try.  Burger apologized for the flaw he made   publicly - but that is ignored and the attack is according to you and a few others totally on De Jager.
Lets take another example - the Japanese fiasco.  What about the fact that the same Burger lost ball possession four times by knocking on balls in traffic.   - and the string of penalties given away by Bismarck, Jannie and Pienaar.   Did that not impact on the game?  Matfield was not all there and ignored Meyer on what playing style had to be used and De Villiers was totally inept and produced nothing on the day.  The old guard was horrendously poor that some of them were dropped from the team and others used sparingly afterwards.
It is easy to blame single incidents in a specific game to discredit players you do not like - but strings of other incidents of poor play by other players you like spread over many games are then ignored and the incident you wanted to use to discredit players is the only one applicable.
I stick with my advice - you should never have commented on this thread - because you are making yourself looking ridiculous by your comments.   Sad to see how you are defending the poor performers and attacking better players you dislike all the time.

The only acts of consequence that happened in the RWC knockouts were....Vermeulen's offload and F du Preez's follow up. Both veteran players. In the knockouts no youngster did anything of note. In fact apart from Lomp's missed tackle he also lost the ball twice deep in the Welsh half. Allende tractored away and produced absolutely nothing. Pollard, a player I certainly support put the team under great pressure against the ABS with poor line kicking. About the only player who really made a difference was Louw who was competitive at the breakdown. Kriel was literally irrelevant.
Not one of the players blooded in the two years before the RWC made a positive, better than his opponent, contribution in the knockouts.

Lood beat DDA, Burger, Eben and Jaco Kriel.
Surprising win given he missed almost the entire Super 15 season (hurt in the first game and came back for the last couple). His Bok performances were good, but not POY worthy.
Jesse Kriel a deserved winner as young player of the year. Disappeared a little in the WC, but certainly made his case to be the Bok 13. Props to Meyer for playing him at 13 from the first opportunity, even though he had played fullback the entire Super 15.
Most disappointing player of the year? Willie le Roux. Where did those magical moments go? Not fundamentally sound enough in the other areas of his game to get a pass if he doesn't bring that spark to the game.

DDA was a bit disappointing at the RWC, but that was clearly due to the game plan of the Boks. IMO he was our best player last year. Had he been a Kiwi, he would have won POTY. ... Meyer managed to turn a potential game breaker into nothing more than a stampkar. He even played flanker in the Argie desaster in Durbs. Not even Rassie can be that pòor.

This is a real problem.  The youngsters did their part throughout the WC and De Jager made more tackles than any other lock in the WC.  He was beyond any doubt the best lock we had playing in the WC.
The campaign against De Jager is ridiculous.  The other one that is absolute tripe is the lauding of the old players who flopped badly - and in that lot you can include De Villiers - he was poor in all the games he played after injury - Pienaar, Matfield, Alberts, Morne Steyn, Jannie du Plessis and even Bismarck (in the Japanese test) were all B S in capital letters.
Mozart base all his stories on one incident in the semi - and he attacked De Jager - while ignoring the fact that Burger gifted a try to the AB's as well.
This sick attack on younger players is boring and non-deserved by the players who really did their part - while being let down by the heroes of the past.
Mozart writes stories about tractoring - but what about the fact that Du Preez constantly played the ball back to the forwards and the few times the ball got to the centers the momentum was gone and De Allende got the ball in traffic.  What the hell is expected from a center who has to act as a loosie.  Yet he made more line breaks and beat more defenders than any other center in the WC.
As I said I am sick of the constant garbage dished up on this site and for you and Mozart  trying to discredit players is like applying for more egg to come your way.

DDA has all the tools for a 12 - good speed, strength through the tackle, elusive,  but he needs to learn to offload. I can only remember one legitimate offload in all the tests last year.
I expect his defensive game and tackling to improve as he matures and reads the game better much like JDV.

Draad at times I have been impressed with Allende, he is certainly a powerful fellow, but he does nothing at speed. He starts running when he has the ball rather than before.....it's all slow motion stuff and his breaks lead to nothing. Is it coaching...maybe...but a player like BOD never had to be coached to run onto the ball.
And his defence, while improved at the WC remains to be proven.

Mike - not sure you read what I wrote. I said he played well as a Bok, but don't think anyone should get Player of the Year when they miss essentially half the games and have zero impact in the Super 15.
I try to keep an open mind and write what I think, don't have a campaign or actively discredit players.

Problem was that in the WC a terrible game plan reduced every player to bog ordinary or mostly poor in the Japan game and the play-offs.   We should never have been in the semi - the Welsh actually outplayed us and the fact that Vermeulen ignored an instruction from Meyer and off-loaded a ball and the Welsh wing made a crucial mistake in defense late in the game resulted in Du Preez's try.
But lets get back to the player of the year issue bearing in mind that the public nominated the players considered and voted in the issue - who would you have nominated for player of the year and why?
