 @saf... mate is Louw that bad? I prefer Coetzee, but Louw has never let us down.
And I am so keen to see schalla in the mix.

Louw is solid, but not a real 6.....too big and cumbersome for the role......Coetzee, Carr, Brussouw, Kolisi and Kriel are all better 6's.
Schalk ahead of the above.....again no way........would I have him ahead of Vermeulen, v/d Walt, Arno Botha, Labascagne, CJ Stander, Mtembu, Rhodes or Elstadt......no way.

Louw is better on the deck than Coetzee...and a smarter player. Coetzee plays like a moron, charging into the first tackler....He needs to learn how to pass.

Bullshit, Coetzee is just as good on the ground these days and a far better player with ball in hand and in defence. He is a far better player all round. Louw is not a 6 much like Schalk never was.

Unfortunately not Chippo, the ball dies with Coetzee. Huge energy, lots of process tackles....but minimal fetching, no offloads...no cover defence.  

Nonsense, Coetzee and Vermeulen were our best forwards in 2014......Coetzee breaks the advantage line almost everytime he goes on the charge.....all that energy and strength beats defenders. His tackle count is huge.
Louw goes unnoticed......an innocuous player you might notice in 1 out of 5 games.....very average player who is lost as to where he should be playing......too big for 6 too small for 7 and one just never sees him at 8, where is probably best suited.
Solid player at best, nothing special at all......Coetzee is far, far better.....and was outstanding in an average Bok side last year. He and Vermeulen stood tall.  

Impressive ...who were all those guys he ran over? I like this guy and I like Carr....both of them see the field. Poor Coetzee only sees the player he wants to run into.

I am not prejudiced against Matfield,   He is the one player that reduced our Tight 5 to a Tight 4.   We have far better and stronger players than him to contribute in tight phases of play.

You mention some deficiencies which is negative about Coetzee - but the following can be said about Willem Alberts - whom you have onsistently supported in the past:-
"The ball dies with Alberts.  Minimal energy, too few process tackles with a substantial missed tackle ratio....no fetching, no offloads...no cover defence."
The minimal energy statement refers to Alberts low work rate approach.

I rate Coetzee highly, still learning too.
With regards to your players Mike, I agree with the majority - but I still think Fransie has something to offer especially with Jean's injury. An experienced centre would be good. Obviously if he can improve his perfomances from recently but I believe he can and will this season.
Also, if Alberts comes back from injury and shows his form from a couple of years ago then he could be very helpful in NH conditions. Although, if he shows some of his lowly form then there's no place for him.

Problem is that Alberts and Steyn have both been playing on reputation.  In general they were below par in 2013 and 2014.   I could find no reason in the last two years fpr their presence in the Springbok team.
Alberts - a few ineffective ball carries in games he played in - a low number of tackles - no breakdown ball protection and recovery.
Steyn - poor in ball handling and skills - very few tackles beaten (8 in all matches in Super 15 in 2014) - no line breaks at center - a  proclivity to lose balls more than any other center in Super 15.   His only positive was kicking at goal - but we have flyhalfs to do that.   
For these two players to make the grade they will have to up their performances by 100% - which is unlikely - and both ill have to improve their thinking ability in playing the game .        
   

 Like I said Mike I agree that they've been below par but if they get fit and firing then they could be big assets. Fransie more  than Alberts.
I believe we have a couple of experienced loosies who are better than Alberts, whereas at centre Steyn's experience could be useful. All depending on form obviously.

 Kriel is worh a shot if you want a fast number 6. Get the tight five right first by giving pap matfiled the boot. Vermulen and Schalk and kriel are a possibilty. 
Blikkies re that klip one has to be a bit realistic. Kriel was after all playing rooitwits hapless guppies. I doubt kriel can run through a decent side like he did in that second try. The first try he beat Cooper (an underated player) then a skittish back tackle attempt from the sharks. 
Louw is a must for the NH. Alberts? Well APD is correct we must see how he performs this season. He was not good last season.Du Plessis makes a good big number 7 in any case so is Alberts needed? Meyer has an embarassment of riches but picks mohoje and matfiled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point I lost a lot of confidence in his. It shows a fundamental error in knowing what is required to win against NH sides.
Against the wee abs you can field a pap pack and get away with it - witness our win in SA. It is in fact most annoying that we are not regularly hammering these hapless wee abs due to absurd selections - and of course bent refs!!!
Come on Meyer wake up surely you can see what needs doing!!
