He barely made the starting XV when J Mitchell was coach...

He isnt the most fashionable player, nor does he get the kudos he deserves...

But since Ackers has taken over at the Lions, Jacobie Adriaanse has come into his own!

His form has been really good to watch.

Look, he isnt the most mobile prop, but...

He is massive at scrum time! Since he has started... the Lions scrum has been epic (the only part of their game that is good)

He has taken the ball up well on attack!

He puts in his fair share on defense around the ruck...

And he shows the character that a coach loves when the chips are down! He plays with all he has for the full time that he's on the field.

I hope his good form continues into the CC! He has been a standout for the past 3 weeks for the Lions.

He along with Junkies and the loose trio of Hattingh, Minnie and Josh have been playing really well!

Actually Minnie has been huge all season! Im a big D Minnie fan!

Flash

I do believe that Adriaanse is a good prop - but Minnie is a penalty machine and unless he starts to learn the laws of the game - he is OUT.

Dereck Minnie has all the attributes of a good open-side flanker,ie. low center of gravity, legs like tree stumps and strong as an ox, but gets his timing wrong most of the time and executes poorly. He needs to study how the great pilferers pounce onto the tackled player, but only when the timing is right.

Pocock, Brussouw, Bissie, Coenie, Andrew Hore and Liam Gill are all great pilferers of the ball, but they pounce only when the timing is right. I purposely left MaCaw out of that list because he is the game's greatest cheat and does'nt deserve to be mentioned with the true greats (IMO). Minnie needs to learn these things and could become one of the best in the world, until then, he will remain a penalty machine.

Agree re Jacobie he made mincemeat of Kruger -whose Bok career now surely is on hold. Harris is twice the player he is. Brock has not been shunted around the who;e year and outside the scrum has a huge work rate. Then maybe also malherbe though his form has dropped off a bit.

as for pilfers the best could be Deo ourie. seesm to me he could be abetter player than brussouw,

With serious doubts about Schalks returning the best we could do is Coetzee, Alberts and Vermuelen.

The tight five pick themselves although if Coenie were fit he would replace Beast. So we would have a 936 kg pack just 4 kgs under a fulf strength Stormers pack. The biggest disappointment of the season for me was not seeing the full strength Stormers pack in action.

These young backs like JJ should now be on the bench getting some game time.

Jacobie?

HAHA i thought i was the only 1!

Agree with Flash.

He isnt the most fashionable choice... kinda like Dawie Theron and Tommy Loubscher were back in the day.

But flip the guy is incredible at set pieces.

He also puts in a few good hits on defense.

Kitch Christie always said that tight head is the most important position in any rugby team.

I used to laugh!

If his form carries on, I dont care about fashion.... give him a shot!

Him and Beast are real brute strength.
