Cape Town - Matt Proudfoot is set to be announced as one of Allister Coetzee’s Springbok coaching assistants.
According to Rapport, Proudfoot will be Coetzee’s assistant for at least the next four years after he came to an agreement with SA Rugby regarding a contract.
It is believed that Proudfoot’s contract will also be until after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Proudfoot was Coetzee’s assistant during his tenure at the Stormers, as well as the Kobe Kobelco Steelers in Japan.
SA Rugby has seemingly found a way to extricate Proudfoot from his contract in Japan and is set to announce him as part of the Bok management team.
Proudfoot will share the forwards coaching responsibilities with Johann van Graan, who was forwards coach in the Heyneke Meyer era.
Van Graan’s contract was renewed by SA Rugby following the conclusion of last year’s World Cup in England.
Coetzee will however have to make to without defence specialist Jacques Nienaber, who is reportedly set to follow Rassie Erasmus to Irish club Munster.
So we lose two of the best coaches in SA to Munster. Erasmus is probably the best rugy brain in SA. What a bunch a hatters we have running our rugby!!!
