Not sure what Zola Yeye is mumbling about.

First he says that he is not happy with transformation at EP, but that Cheeky and co are proponents of transformation. Then that the kings will not push one race, rather equality.

Good Politician, can say everything and nothing at all.

Kings of tension AUG 27, 2012 | GEORGE BYRON | 0 COMMENTS

RACIAL tensions are simmering below the surface as the Southern Kings prepare for their eagerly awaited Super Rugby debut next year against a backdrop of squabbling officials.

Former Springbok manager Zola Yeye is dissatisfied with the racial mix of the EP Kings line-up, saying more black players are needed in their Currie Cup team.

"I have expressed my dissatisfaction about the mix of the players in the EP team on many occasions. We need more players of colour in the team so it can be a true reflection of the province," Yeye said.

The manager of the World Cup-winning Springbok team of 2007 also suggested the Kings take one of their Super Rugby matches to Mthatha next year to boost the sport among township youth and to create role models.

"We have taken Test rugby to Soweto, so why not to Mthatha if the right stadium can be found?

"EP president Cheeky Watson is a proponent of transformation and he knows what we want from the franchise. The people in charge at EP are well aware of what is required of them."

When told of Yeye's comments, EP CEO Anele Pamba said his union would not disadvantage players of any race.

"We will not go out and buy players of colour. We are a family and we will walk this road of transformation together without undermining any race. Our academy was created to give hope to all Eastern Cape kids.

"We have players from Butterworth, Mthatha and Mount Frere, and some have graduated to the top without disadvantaging other kids at the academy. At the Kings we will not push a certain race. Everyone will be given a fair chance."

Pamba said the racial mix of the Kings squad fluctuated because of injuries.

Yeye's comments come after reports that Border Rugby has been rocked by claims of racism over the alleged purging from the union's teams.

Border forms part of the Southern Kings franchise and Yeye said it has been known for some time that Border was a "sick patient".

"Border has had a sick administration for some time. A number of interventions have been made to try and help them but they are sitting on a powder keg waiting to explode," he said.

It has been alleged that black players are resigning from the union and that one coach had left his position at Border after he was forced to use an all-white squad even though he had a talented bunch of black players.

"Border has many young black diamonds and it is incomprehensible for us to be talking about the malignment of players based on race," Yeye said

Zola Yeye was a real problem as Springbok MNanager and tried to play political games as to selection - there were serious problems between Jake White and him as a result.   He was involved in intrigue to get Watson into the team.

I think he is playing a different game now - he wants to get at the loot and replace his soulmate Cheeky Watson in the  EP rugby set-op  .  The political bedfellows has seemingly fallen out - but both are scroungers and low life - so lets wait and see what happens next.   Looting is a top prioprity in this case - end of story. .

Yeah, all this race crap is such a pain in the bum. I don't know of one person that has a problem with a black/coloured or any other player being included in a side, as long as they are good enough to be there on merit. Just a side thought, if our politicians are so insistant on getting players of colour into the top level of rugby, start forcing previously disadvantaged schools to include rugby in their sporting calender. If these kids are not being exposed to the game, why would they want to become involved in it? The reason there are more white klids playing the game today has nothing to do with colour, and everything to do with the number of them being exposed to rugby while at school.

Just FYI, our national Soccer team is also not representative of our population, because there are basically no white players in it....but that is because of the same reasons as above, but just the revers situation.

Also, there is NO rugby of importance on SABC? If they were really serious about getting kids "of colour" involved in rugby, then they would showcase the top level rugby, Tri-Nations, Super Rugby, on channels that the masses are exposed to. But they don't, yet they wonder why there are not enough children of colour coming through the ranks. Expose these kids to the game, and the numbers of players of colour will take care of themselves.

true bluebok but you must understand there true mission is not the represent the relevant people in the country its more about demonizing certain races of people in the country and to try and take control of everything.

no one of us or in the rugby is racist but they are usinig the veil of race to emotionaly blackmail people to buy there agenda.
