Cape Town - Former Stormers forwards coach Matthew Proudfoot is part of a Springbok management unit that's currently doing the rounds meeting with South Africa's Super Rugby franchises.
Proudfoot, who worked under new Bok coach Allister Coetzee during his tenure as Stormers coach, was part of the Springbok team that visited the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, confirmed Netwerk24.
T his has fueled speculation that Proudfoot is set to be a part of Coetzee's management team,
although exactly where or how he would fit in remains
to be seen.
Proudfoot is currently an assistant coach at Japanese
club Kobe Kobelco Steelers after he had followed
Coetzee there towards the end of last year, while
Johann van Graan has been named as the Boks'
forwards coach for the next four years.
Reports last month suggested that Coetzee
had sent a request to SARU requesting that
Proudfoot be a part of his management team.
When asked to comment on this issue on Wednesday,
SA Rugby confirmed that they would be releasing
a statement in due course.
Coetzee's road-trip will end in Cape Town next Thursday.
His first Bok training camp will be on May 29, while
his first Test in charge will be against Ireland on June 11 at Newlands.
