Rassie to become South Africa's Director of Rugby . . .

Looks like Rassie Erasmus will be leaving Munster as soon as a successor is found and coming back to South Africa to take up the position of Director of Rugby.

Not sure exactly how this will affect the Springbok coaching position but reading Rassie's reasons for leaving ("However, in making the decision to move I always said that one day I would like to coach the Springboks if the opportunity arose"), it sounds like it could be the first step in Rassie replacing Allister Coetzee as Springbok coach.

But yes, Rassie will do a lot of good. Kick out quotas and we would be back in the fight for number one. The other big problem though is the drainage of players overseas. The fate of the Cheetahs and Kings will shed some light on that. Love to know how their deal stacks up against the deal the SA Super Comp sides get

Rassie has probably been coaching the team from Ireland. Coetzee has always ridden on the coat tails of Rassie. It started at the Stormers, and now at the Boks as well.

Ag Ou Maaikie, you remind me about the story about the two guys walking out of the town hall after a political rally in Namaqualand. The one guy says to the other, in typical Namaquand accent: "Nou wat het jy van die spreker gedink?" The other guy says: "Nieee hyt baja gepraaat en hyt môi gepraaat mar hyt fôkôl gesê nie". Why don't you, for once in your miserable life, forget who said what I have said about Rassie and take me up on my argument? Why don't you try and refute what I have said. I'm open for persuasion. Show me where I am wrong when I say that he has dropped one side after the other. More important, though, what exactly has he achieved as a coach. He is no different than Mallett. He has won one Currie Cup with a one-off tactic, much like his disco lights experiment. He shared it the next year and that was the last of his achievements before dropping his "beloved" Free State and pissing off. From there one he did not see out a single coaching contract, not that he even saw out the Free State one. He was supposed to be in charge of sorting out coaching and scouting in SA rugby. If he was that good we should have had coaching structures settled in all of the unions and franchises supported with proper succession planning, etc, etc. Nothing came of that after four+ years in the job. Look what has just happened to that junior team of us.

@MR, his big claim to fame was the fact that he beat the Blue Bulls in a game where all the odds were stacked against him. It was at a time when, for all practical reasons, he should not have beaten the Blue Bulls. In typical Rassie fashion he devised a plan for that particular game. He outsmarted the Blue Bulls by loading his bench wiling fowards and took them on up front. In addition he had Lady Luck having a piss up and she gave him a nice hug. The Blue Bulls were leading the game in the dying moments and the Cheetahs launched an enormous up and under. In a rare event Fourie du Preez, probably the safest scrumhalf you can get, and Johan Roets, probably the safest fullback at the time, made a complete balls up of it. There was no communication between them and they both went for the ball. They messed it up and Meyer Bosman brilliantly followed the kick up and gathered the ball to score under the posts, untouched. That was Rassie's claim to fame and he has been riding the wave ever since. I'm not saying he is a mamparra but other than that CC title, he has nothing to show. Just like Nick Mallett who has been riding his 17 or whatever winning streak since the nineties.

 I recall how Rassie won the Currie Cup twice while playing and coaching free State. He was offered a move to WP which he turned around pretty quickly. Unfortunately he couldn't take all the interference of the political bosses and left much like Mallet etc.I recall how CA Cobus Visagie said he is the astutest rugby brain he had ever encountered and similar remarks have been made about Rassie by others.One of course would not expect certain oaks here to appreciate a genius like Rassie. Rassie is just too cerebral for many oaks Bwahahahahahhahaha.

 So he shared it! He was a joint winner with the bulle I think it was. What a silly quibble in typical windpomp style. Some perspective. How many times have Free State won the Currie Cup. I believe it was three. Suddenly with Erasmus they win 2.

 And then, after that, what has he won. Sweet blue bugger all .

 No need to counter the BS spread by the dunces on this issue - it has been dealt with repeatedly in the past and the BS exposed.   The falsification of the situation has been exposed too.         

Rassie will accomplish nothing....there will be some bs indaba, but the Bok coaches don't want some Super Coach looking over their shoulders, nor do the Super Rugby coaches.

Yeah ... I stopped ages ago. I found myself rushing my moves. Not giving each move the proper time it needs ... merely going through the motions of playing chess but without analizing each move carefully.

I would rise to the early 1700's when focused and then fall away to 1400 when going through the motions.

I was waisting my time.

Thought I'd give myself a break. Build a little hunger up for this fine game.

 I don't play at RHP much these days, I only play there off and on, I mostly play on another site which allows me to play in tournaments, it kinda breaks the monotony. I love tournament play. My rating hit 1700 on there recently but it's now in the high 1600's....a bit like you, up and then down. RHP will only let you play in tournaments if you become a subscriber.

 There's a tournament starting on the 02/09/ and it's for ratings of between 1400-1600it's called the 40th Chess Tournament if you want to register,  you'll be playing in a group of 5 or 6 players. Think you'll love the buzz. Only 1 player goes through from each group.

 Yeah I reckon, glad to hear you feel the same. Yesterday they had over 33,000 players online!! I'm nowhere near exploring all of it's amazing features even though I promise myself to do so, I'm more into tournament mode, also over the moon that I've topped my first round group for the second time even if the margin was by a whisker.

There certainly is a lot to do there. Not enough hours in the day to explore everything.

Will have to break it up and systematically go through it all ... bit by bit. I see they even teach the various aspects of playing chess ... with puzzles to solve ... pinning ... what a fork is ... etc.
