One of the best ever - who heklped in the formulation of modern cricket.   As a commentator he was excellent - I can remember in the 1990's when he was commentating on games between SA and Australia he was needling the Aussie commentators and at one stage Chappell lost his cool completely.    When asked in an itnerview about him playing cricket in SA in the 1970's he said he had no chance of being selected at that time to play for South Africa - the SA team at the time was far too strong for him to get selected - hence his move to play for England.

Always liked his expert commentating.   He will be remembered by any fans

 Big loss to the cricketing world - RIP Queens boy

The outpouring of tributes is continueing unabated and it is wonderful to read and see how highly Greigie as he was affectionately called by the Ozzies, was regarded both here and abroad.

As I've said there are many tributes, this is one made by James Packer, the son of the late Kerry Packer gives an insight into the man....

"Tony stood shoulder to shoulder with my father at times when it was not always fashionable.

Apart from his considerable talents as a cricketer and then a commentator, (Greig) played an absolutely pivotal role in the success of World Series Cricket, which changed the game forever for the better," Packer said.

 Admired him as a player and more so as a commentator.

Great cricket personality and a warm and kind ex Saffer who chose to futher his career in cricket by moving to the UK. The SA side at the time was really a great side and it would have been extremly difficult for him to be selected for the SA team at that stage.

Thus he made the right move.

Thankfully he also was one of the promoters for one day cricket (Packer was the other) and just look at the legacy he is leaving for all of us cricket fans.
